Just starting a painting blog up here. It'll also be over on my personal site in my signature if you want to go and visit it. C&C is always welcome here.

Cheers mate. Not sure if they sell folkart brand craft paints across the pond but if they do, or if you can find an equivalent, you might try getting a metallic blue craft paint, mix in some bright silver to brighten it up and then wash black ink into the crevasses in order to add shade. I tried it for my cygnar a little while ago and it wasn't the effect I wanted, but it might work for you?

I went to my FLGS recently and got a pair of Warzone Mutant Chronicles miniatures for £2 each. I figured that I'd use them as a bit of practice and an attempt at doing some sort of Brotherhood of Steel-style power armour. It's been around ten years since I painted anything, and longer since I painted a miniature of any description.

I’m kind of pleased with them, even if the blue armour didn’t work out quite like I hoped. I was hoping for the light blue sheen that you sometimes see in artwork for Fallout BoS power armour, but instead it ended up a very deep blue. It’s kind of patchy and the miniature appears worse in real life than it does here. I don’t think it’s too bad for a first attempt, though.

Technique on the blue sheen:
1. Basecoat Army Painter Plate Mail.
2. Liberally apply Army Painter Blue Tone.
3. Agonise over how patchy it is.
4. Reapply Blue Tone.
5. Repeat from Step 3 until bored.

In case anyone ever wants to achieve the effect.

That's a pretty good idea, actually. I'll have a go, thanks.
