Lovely work, subbed in expectation of more awesomeness! The painted stuff is all spot on, and the conversion work is looking good too!

Really cool. How did you achieve the shiny black on the Aliens? It looks amazing.

Very, very nice indeed. I really like the glossy Alien heads, so evocative of the original film. Great speckled skin on the predators too and the Marines have a beautiful paintjob...... but I'm guessing they're not going to last too long on the battlefield!

Nice aliens. So like in the movies. I want a step by step of that super glossy finish.

Jenkins: You don't have jurisdiction here!
Smith Jamison: We aren't here, which means when we open up on you and shred your bodies with automatic fire then this will never have happened.

About the Clans: "Those brief outbursts of sense can't hold back the wave of sibko bred, over hormoned sociopaths that they crank out though."

I'm painting them in two versions of this method.

Infant Warriors and Stalkers:

- Spray black
- Base coat with 50/50 black/gun metal
- Glaze with 40/60 black wash/acrylic medium (henceforth, just "glaze")
- Drybrush with previous black/gunmetal mix
- Drybrush with pure gun metal
- Wash of 30/30/30 Bestial Brown, acrylic medium and water, applied onto the ribcage, throat, belly, behind the knees, between toes/fingers, between tail sections and into any "vents" or "gills" on the model.
- Drybrush medium silver
- Glaze
- Drybrush medium silver, more selectively toward the face, hands etc
- Glaze
- VERY light drybrush of bright silver on the prominent areas mentioned above
- Pick out a few details such as segmented sections, musculature of the triceps, etc with thinned down purple wash.
- Glaze
- Pick out teeth with bright silver, paint cranium black
- Finish with gloss varnish. I paint it on rather than spraying due to humidity and the improved control. You may have to coat the cranium twice to achieve a perfect finish though.

For the adult Warriors and heavier stuff like Royal Guard, I skip the brown stage and then when I get to the purple wash, do all those details at that stage (but a bit more carefully).

Also for anyone wondering, the Predator skin is just a base coat of GW Rakarth Flesh, a wash of Army Painter Soft Tone, then several stages of careful Rakarth Flesh drybrushes alternated with 50/50(ish) glazes of Soft Tone/acrylic medium, finished with some fine highlights of Rakarth and a 10/90 glaze of Soft Tone/medium.

Here are a few other pics from the gallery, for those not inclined to click around all over the place:

Interestingly, from what I've hard the Marines get chomped as quickly as you'd expect... in small games. Once they have a decent number of bodies on the table they turn into a tsunami of dakka.

Great work, and that's a lot of Predators! I'll be checking back to your paint recipes when I start mine

Where did you get the objective marker models, they are brilliant...

Very nice work! The only thing I'd recommend is maybe bulking up the predator arm holding the sabre.

They're cobbled together out of quite a few different things.

Copied from FB:

The three smaller bases are Fenris Games "sulaco" 50mm, the big one is a Micro Art Studio "Tech" 60mm. The crates, cables, observation gear and computers are from various Dreamforge Games "Eisenkern" kits, apart from the large square crate which is a resin piece for Deadzone (Mantic). The guns are variously from Alien vs Predator (Prodos Games), Wargames Factory "Survivors" kits and DF Eisenkern.

Yeah, that one and the Predator holding a pulse rifle and saber need epoxy work to finish the arms. The one with the sword in particular currently has massive gaps and x-acto carved surfaces, you just can't really tell in the picture. Bulking, musculature and straps all need to be built up.

If i ever get into this game, i am totally stealing that Alien trick because that looks awesome as hell. I play Warzone: Resurrection and from what ive been told they play very, very similarly.
But i has too many things i need to paint as it is lol.

Yeah, they're essentially the same rule set. The current version of AvP uses tile sections instead of inches for measurement, but there's pre-release versions of the rules floating around that are directly compatible with WZR for the most part.

I've got time to do one more small unit or monster before I have to spend a week moving house, kinda tempted to do the queen actually but it may end up being another pred or some more warriors.
