Here are the miniatures I've painted from the box set so far. I'm going with Blood Angel colors but suck at transfers so they will have no actual markings. Oh well. Thanks for looking.

Ooh. I like these. well done. I really like the subtle highlight on the Marines. I can see that its there but it isn't forced or overdone. I really like it that way.

Glory is fleeting, but obscurity lasts forever.

Considering also your duty as a warrior you should not waver. Because there is nothing more auspicious for a warrior than a righteous war.

I like the paint job. Shame about the markings, though. Have you asked in the main Painting & Modeling forum for help with that? GW decals are not the best I've ever used, but with some care, they have been serviceable, and add a lot to the finished models.

Thanks for the comments, I really appreciate it! I believe there are some products that help adhere the decals with ease perhaps I should try them. Water didn't seem to work for me. The decals wrinkle around corners and tear easily. Although, the decals I have are rather old. I've thought about trying to free hand as well. I could do a simple blood drop on the shoulder pads which is appropriate.

5th company seems easy enough.

Microsol and (especially) Microset should help you out here with your decals ... they certainly did with me.

Really liking your Blood Angels, by the way!

I finished the Terminators in the box. I didn't want them to be too flashy so I didn't paint all of the trim gold. Thanks for looking.

This is not my formula but it worked great for another BA heresy army.

http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/670507.page#8265779

1. I put the decal in a water tray.
2. I start with MicroSet. I paint the whole panel that's going to receive the decal so that there won't be any drying spots.
3. I apply the decal onto the wet MicroSet, and adjust it. Then I put another layer of MicroSet on it (while it's wet). Using a flat brush, I ensure that the decal is wrinkle-free and devoid of large air pockets.
4. Use hairdryer or wait for it to dry. Then apply 1 coat of MicroSol. This bunches up the edges a little.
5. Repeat #4.
6. Use hairdryer or wait for it to dry. Apply Vallejo Decal Fix.
7. Repeat #6 about 2-3 times

It comes out perfect every time, with no noticeable ridges at all. No gloss coat underneath, no lahmian medium after, etc. I fluked onto it when I applied the wrong product one time, because I was falling asleep

Oh -- also, I use a flat brush to apply, rather than a round. The MicroSol/MicroSet doesn't matter so much, but Decal Fix is pretty thick.

If you just dont like transfers, just use some painters blues tape for a vertical or horizontal stripe. What I did with my Ravenwing

@ tagony, thanks for the info. I actually really wanna use decals because I think it will really bring the army together. I already ordered micro set and sol. I will have to look into the decal fix. I figure I will just sit down one night when I have everything I need and just go decal crazy. Thanks again for the advice!

No prob, it was Talys, that showed me his formula. I'm like you, Ordered the sol and set to try it out lol. I just havent had a sunny non busy day to prime and paint it some different bits to try it all out. On the link it shows his stuff with transfers and they look flawless. Hopefully it works out!
