So the draft happened last night/today. Everyone happy with how their teams shook out?
I know I'm thrilled. Holland robbed Arizona blind.

Can't say I've been following the Canucks too closely, but a couple minutes reading on the guys drafted seems like a decent class.... Not really stellar, but not bad either.

We've got the money to offer Stamkos what he's wanting, and some other intangibles, such as nearness to home. I feel we have a not horrible chance of landing him.
Will be super exciting if we do. And if not there is always Backes and Okposo on the market as well.

Well, you're also not Buffalo either!
To be fair though, I think there's going to be a lot, and mean A LOT! of hush-hush competition from Toronto as well... No one in the league can compete with them in terms of pure money, it just comes down to cap space.
Hell, even here in TO Land, pretty everyone who wasn't simply a blind & deluded Loafs fan was giving Babs pretty much 0 odds of actually accepting the coaching job. Shanny is a freaking magician it seems at convincing people to come, and he's put together a solid front office team.
Plus, the Maple Losers are in desperate need of a leadership guy like Stams, and he'd be a great role model for the younger guys like Mathews (likely the future captain), Nylander & Marner.
Anyways, I'm happy with what the Habs managed. Our 1st rounder looks promising, and we've added another pest in Shaw to alongside Ghallager.
PK probably isn't going anywhere either, despite all the rumor hype.
Hopefully this year the team stays mostly healthy! This past season just was painful watching half the team go down to injuries.

Toronto's biggest negatives are the media, and how they'll be crawling up his ass crack ever second of the day, and Babcock, who lets face it, while being a good coach, is a dick.

Got to love how Molson chose a floundering GM/Coach pair over one of the best Habs defensemen since Chelios. God I hate the Habs management. I hope Price gets traded or just hardlines the Habs next contract. He deserves to be on a winning team and get his name on the Cup.

Eesh, so is PK really that big of an donkey-cave as people say or is that just people hating him? Seeing as how he got traded to the hawks division I assume I will find out soon.

Not sure about all that, but he has struck me as being dirtier than the average player. Doesn't necessarily mean that he's a dirty player, but for me, the perception is there.

He's a talker on the ice, and he's been a bit of a young hot head, though that's been settling down in the past year or so as he's been maturing.
Off the ice he's a very nice and friendly guy from all accounts, and did a lot of charity work in Canada.
He's a great player, and I think he'll do really well on a team with an actual coach.

He gave 10 mil to a kid's hospital. Not exactly chump change.

Well today has been entertaining so far.
Glad we got Nielson, not happy with the contract though.
Vanek should be a solid addition.
Ott??? We tried this with Tootoo, and while it was entertaining to have a fighter on the team, just wasn't worth it.

Words cannot describe how much that we hate that trade. My phone blew up with notifications from friends complaining as soon as it happened.
Habs management is the worst....Uggg...and they wonder why we haven't won a Stanley Cup in forever.

As an Atlantic rival, I'm not going to complain about this turn out. Subban can stay in the West.
Also super happy about the Blues dismantling a bit. Elliot and Backes have been big names for the team for quite a while.

I think the PK deal was a solid move by Mtl. Subban is an over rated offensive defensemen who tends to be a liability when he actually needs to play defense. Furthermore, at 10 million a season you would expect more then 6 GOALS a season.
Honestly when Subban signed that contract the first thing I thought of was "Trade Value" what they have effectively done is make him a GIANT liability for a number of years for another team and eating up a huge chunk of that teams Salary cap.
Considering that Mtl's biggest weakness this and last year was scoring, it is not surprising they dumped a giant salary that was only putting away 10-11 goals on average a season.
Compare Subban to Torey Krug of Boston, Krug just signed a HUGE contract for 4 years with the Bruins worth 5million a year. Krug put up 2 fewer goals then Subban, but still managed 44pts, furthermore, if you watched him play this year he had a massive slump that was exacerbated by having a bunch of goals taken away from him through coaches challenge (awful rule). Krug is basically PK Subban LITE, without the on ice issues. The Bruins have him locked up for 4 years for literally half the salary as Subban but Krug produces almost at the same level and is just as good defensively as Subban.
