Hey Dakka!

I am working on some Storm Giant space marines and I am fielding a Command squad with Apothecary, 4 grav guns and 4 storm shields. I will be using Sternguard as a base, but need some help with Storm Shields.

First, do you guys have any good places to get some decent storm shields? I have looked at shapeways, or just buying from Forgeworld.

Or should I just use the ones from the Vanguard Vet box? I'd like to have my lightning bolt symbol either via sculpt or transfer (transfer preferably.)

I was going to suggest the AoS Stormcast ones, though they might be hard to obtain on their own and the hammer device looks sculpted on (you'd have to carefully file it off).

I haven't got any other suggestions at the mo, but will check back as I'm in need of some for my command squad too

Have you looked at the ones made by anvil?

They have a riot shield look to them, but I think they would make for good ones

They look good, very similar to the Forgeworld versions (which are nice), but lacking in handles apparently. Cheaper than the ones from FW due to the FW ones coming with other assorted pieces which you might not want.

Is your command squad going to be on foot or on bikes?

I like those Anvil ones. I ordered a set of the shapeways to see just what the quality is.

I will have 5 guys on foot (deployed from Drop pod) with their captain in Cataphracti Armor and at least one librarian.

I'll be bulking up their shield arms with additional armor and larger pauldrons.

I use Iron Hands tactics (Storm Giant insignia) and am using the Angels of Death book. In my 2000 point list I have a StrikeForce Command, a Stormlance Demi-co, an Annihilation Force and a Librarius conclave with a ton of grav.

Scibor has lots of shields with different motifs.

Kromlech has 2 generic ones, which I quite like:

Scibor actually has a tutorial on how to make some of the shields he does. If you got some sculpey, greenstuff and a cookie cutter, you can make all four on the cheap.
