We come as the storm clouds, to punish the enemies of Mankind

I am starting a Storm Giant Force, about 2000 points with some supplemental options. There will be a ton of Grav Cannon's and Grav Gun's in the list, and will be using Ironhands Tactics predominantly.

The force-

Captain in Cataphracti armor
Command squad with Stormshields and grav guns in a drop pod

3 Devastator squads, 2 drop pods, 1 razor/rhino, 4 grav guns each, each with cherub
2 assault squads (5 man, no upgrades, jump packs)
3 landspeeders
1 vindicator
1 landraider
3 tactical squads with grav cannons in razor/rhino
3 librarians
captain in power armor with combigrav and sword
1 of the new flyers

I will be updating this as I go. I have the first two devastator squads almost done. If you have questions please let me know, and i'll take any feedback.

Some notes on my test model-
1. I ordered transfers so no more hand painting.
2. I'll be doing battle damage to give the model some more diversity
3. I'll be adding a little more white to the highlight so it is more visible.

Some questions I have-
1. should I continue to use the gemstone for the eyes and lenses or do them the traditional marine way?
2. suggestions for base colors? I thought ironearth may look cool??
3. should I add something to the knee pads?
4. any other help/suggestions!!

Have never really noticed the Storm Giants before, but I really like that scheme. Exceptional clean painting style as well, I shall be looking on in interest.

Really nice! I love the eyes/lenses and I think the knees are fine as is. Looking forward to seeing more.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm at the stage just before applying battle damage.

If anyone has suggestions on how to do that with this force let me know. I've got a bunch of building to do, but here are some pics in the mean time.

I welcome all feedback. I am not yet going to paint the face as I have an airbrush stage to apply all my shading, then i'll do skin and face details.

Also, my Cataphracti Captain is not glued together to make my shading stage easier. The symbols are free-hand on this guy as well.

Looking great already. As for criticism I find it hard to find anything. You have a great eye for colour, are extremely neat and seem to paint with accurate thin coats.

What is your shading technique on the miniature now then? One big coat, individual areas of different shades?

Thanks!!

For shading I've stolen an idea from Dr. Faust's Painting.

I saw him do a video with Floor polish and MIG streaking grime. I loved it, especially for off white.

I do battle damage (still undecided really on this), and then:

1. Coat fully with Pledge Future Shine (gloss varnish works if necessary)
2. Once dry, airbrush MIG Streaking Grime
3. after about 30 minutes (longer if you want dirtier) I take a soft cloth and buff off the grime, leaving it in hard to reach places, and naturally shaded items. (it does shoulder pads very well)
4. Slight Touch ups if necessary to brighten or re-highlight (very sparse)
5. Add gemstone color and washes for 'glow'
6. Matte varnish

I'll see if I can't maybe get a few in-step pics.

Update!

First two Dev squads (all grav) are done! (minus matte varnish)

Cataphractii Captain is done. His command squad is next. Along with a spare vindicator I have sitting around, and 3 drop pods (not yet prepped).

C&C welcome.
