A new Kickstarter where the players work as a team to survive in a world of walkers in a tense, fully cooperative 2-4 player game based on AMC’s hit TV series.

Yes the TV and comic are two separate licenses entirely and have been for long time. CZE has maintained the rights to the TV license since they first released the other Walking Dead board games and stuff.

The miniatures from this new one seem like they are better sculpts than the Mantic KS.

Since it is a boardgame and not a miniature game, I wonder what the KS total will be.

Maybe its just me, but Cryptozoic's kickstarters remind me of Cmon circa 2014, with tons of exclusives and add-ons. I find those types of KSs nowadays exhausting. I didnt back their ghostbusters KS mainly bec of this, and bec so many iconic characters were add ons and / or exclusive. (Like Janine Melnitz, wth she was like my childhood nerd crush).

Its called No Sanctuary, but judging by the outfits is set around the Prison period?

Guess it must have a ring to it.

I'm assuming the price would be higher than were the minis to be sold in blisters. I'd buy the models separately for use in zombie games, but already have the Studio Miniatures ones (they just don't do all the characters unfortunately).

Miniatures that look human (not the fat cartoon mantic junk), based on the TV show (show > comics for character style)... this is full of win. Didn't think I'd do another kickstarter, but I'm all in here!

Looks like a great game, but this kickstarter looks like a hot mess.

Dazzled with diamonds, or baffled by bs, you be the judge, but on my end, I am seeing a repetitive, "Monty Haul" swag fest, more then just trying to fund a game. Tiers don't make sense, too many disjointed, "Stretch goals", and there is no easy way to understand what is attached to what, what is a goal, what is an add on, or a stretch goal. all in all, it just looks not very well laid out for what they are wanting to do here.

Great if your getting even half of that stuff, but there doesn't seem to be anything other then a money grab here.

The miniatures for this game are 35mm and may look a bit too large against the Studio Miniatures Zombies.

The digital models look nice but I am wondering if they will need a little tweaking before putting into production or if they are ready to go as is. I'm guessing that will depend on the material they use.

Lol that they included Otis.

Really love the comic so was going to pick up the Mantic game when it gets a retail release, this does look good as well though! More of a board game rather than a miniature wargame in a box and sounds like there is a lot more to it. Like the sound of the 'no confidence in the leader' stuff - if its done well, getting players to interact like that can make the most fun board games I find.

Yeah, Adam and Brady Sadler have an excellent resume when it comes to game design. I watched the game play video all the way through and I really like the game mechanics (yeah the players were a bit boring especially the guy playing Rick, who looked like he barely understood what was going on). I have no doubts that the game play here is going to be vastly superior to ghostbusters.

I'm one of the playtesters/QA editors for the game(I'll mostly be working on making sure the wording for different rules and abilities are clear and concise. The game is quite fun once you get into the groove of understanding how it's paced and the different mechanics.

A big part of playtesting for me has been finding what things need to be tweaked down in difficulty so that scenarios are difficult but not impossible, and this includes playing the same scenarios with different character layouts.

As for the models, the 3D sculpts are amazing, and the detail carried over into the production models is damn good. There will be pics of painted models being posted before the campaign is over.

I think you're right on this one. The base game is $40 without miniatures, while the game + expansion + minis = $125. So CZE is attaching an $85 value to the figures and expansion. It just seems odd to advertise the game as being "worth" only $40 - with a grand total of 2 backers they might as well not have bothered and not confused backers.

Well, I dropped my Early Bird. Still vaguely interested, but with all my Zombicide stuff, various dungeoncrawlers and the figures being the wrong size, I think I'll pass for now and wait & see.

Good luck everybody.

As a refugee from a CMON KS (: the $85 is also for the SG's. I'm guessing that the $40 is for the BGG'ers who don't believe in miniatures, although the two whole backers suggests that CZE shouldn't have listened to these people. Or maybe for non-boardgame WD fans who didn't want to spend $125?

Speaking of CMON, I'm wondering if CZE expected the same reception to WD as CMON received with MD. CZE sorta seems to be copying MD's high funding goal, use of EB's, and even similar $125 pledge level. Also, with Mantic's WD campaign, backers wanted a Daryl figure. So I'm thinking CZE thought the WD name would push the project past the funding goal in minutes, rather than days. If you look at KickTraq, CZE's WD may already be hitting the KS doldrums (especially since the EB's are gone.)

Mantic's WD likewise hit the mid-campaign on the second day. So that either means a publisher's reputation on KS is important, or some IPs do better than other (cf. Dark Suns) or both. Some backers on BGG were defending CZE, but GBII had half as many backers and funding as GBI.

I'm saving up my $$$ for the Secret Weapon Miniatures game tile KS, which hopefully will get me more stuff for my dollar. Right now, $125 gets you 50 WD minis, of which only nine are characters from the tv series. Might as well instead pick up some Hasslefree miniatures with the pound on the low.

Tempted by some of the minis - Daryl, Beth, Maggie but nothing really to make me pre-order at the moment. Likely pick it up at retail if still interested...

Certainly not bothered about Lori

AFAIK only one model that is painted right now is a resin master, and that one has been done for months. I know there are unpainted production models at the office, but I'll try to get clarification on which ones are painted. GB2 had an addon for resin copies of the main characters for those who wanted to paint them in higher detail, I'm sure this game will offer those as well, but I'm not 100% certain as yet.

50K to go to funding. But, since yesterday they made only 11K, that's five days of the doldrums we're looking at. How much advertising did CZE do for this project? I know Massive Darkness was leaked out even back in April, and Mantic posted several blogs before the Walking Dead project.

Its because there is nothing hard to see. A wall of lickies and chewies, and then the scale..... 35mm? Seriously? for a board game? got to see some of the figures, first. If anything. They are asking for a lot, without showing much in return. A sure way to kill enthusiasm. Then the matter of the production/ fulfillment...

Well in order to try and add more value to the KS they added 20 miniatures to the base pledge level (and are very close to unlocking the 10 crawlers zombies from the first social goal).

I'm spoiled by Zombicide. Identical zombies/gangers just hurts. Over $200 to get all the Character miniatures.

I really like the Walking Dead property, and I'd get more use out it since it a board game and not a war game.

Not crazy about the figures just being 3D renders. Zpocalypse figures looked great as renders and terrible in person.

Rivals in 10 each of two poses is just silly. Of course 25 of the same zombie pose plus 15 of another pose is silly too. I suspect the rivals and zombies they added don't add much to the game (or the retail version would have to have them as well).

I'm also not very impressed that the only thing besides digital renders we have seen is painted resin masters, and never at a good enough resolution to REALLY see the detail. My understanding is the Ghost Busters figures did not come out well in production (though I have not seen them), they lost a lot of detail. They say they are using a different material for these, but I'm a "Show don't tell" type of guy.

And the price is high for what we are getting now, not much better than MSRP let alone online discount prices. And 'price per figure' doesn't matter to me when all the zombies are the same and all the rivals are the same.
