Subject: Looted Golden Throne of Terra W.I.P.

Exactly what the title says.
Long-winded and convoluted origin story and description below. Skip past to see all the W.I.P pics.
I'm a big fan of Orks and looted vehicles so when I saw a drawing of a looted Golden Throne with the caption 'Orks can loot anything' I thought to myself: "I'm gonna loot the golden throne."
I had no idea where to start, so I broke it down into manageable chunks. I'd need a throne, an Emperor, a carry vehicle and a reason beyond the obvious. The carry vehicle seemed like the place to start. I started with an Ork Trukk, scrapped that and looked to a Rhino or Chimera, then a Land Raider. None of them spoke to me. Then I thought about the Baneblade and immediately binned the idea due to the massive cost ($165 AUD).
This was around February and my tortured first-world moping must have annoyed my long-suffering girlfriend because come Valentine's Day she handed me my present: a brand new Baneblade for my converting pleasure. Having been together for 7 years already she understood my eagerness and allowed me to start work immediately (second-best V-Day ever!) So I got to unboxing and instantly the sprues started singing to me, ideas exploding and bouncing all around my brainpan like a low-cal round fired into my skull.
The second task, a Throne, came from the sprues. The crew platform/engine housing from one of the Baneblade variations served as the base and steps of the throne. The backrest was made from the decorative rear panel of the Baneblade and the arms tipped with some eagle heads I had left from the Looted Dread Knight. Assorted plates, cables and plasticard make up the rest of it.
The whole thing rests on I-beams and will be chained down. The Emperor (when I find a suitable model) will sit on the throne and be hooked up with hoses from the flanking panels that are fed by the fuel drums which in turn are fed from the tank itself and here's where the model earned it's temporary name...
Da Golden Gobbla.
As you can see the whole front between the tracks is taken up by a spiked conveyor and a gaping maw, with a pair of grabbing arms from the Deff Dread. The idea is that the tank pulls in victims and renders them down into a nutrient paste to pump into 'Da Emprah' who in turn provides the power to fire 'Da Emprah Kannon'. I liken Da Emprah Kannon to a Kamehameha or Special Beam Cannon from DBZ.
Anyway, whatever offal is left over fom the rendering process is pumped out the back of the tank and deposited unceremoniously onto the ground via the cement truck style chutes. I'm particularly proud of the whole idea; a tank that eats people to force-feed the galaxy's most powerful psyker so that his essence can be siphoned off and converted into the most destructive energy weapon to ever prowl a battlefield.
After that I tried to find ways to make the remainder of the tank less Imperial and more Orky. My very first choice was to go asymmetrical. The crew platform on the side is roughly armoured in, crudely supported and sporting placed guns and a saloon-style disembarkation gate. The six-barreled las cannon happened because I had 6 las cannons. Duh.
The battle cannon is a more conventional weapon for the Orks to use while waiting for Da Emprah Kannon to power up over 9000 or so. A few more big shootas and a missile launcher round out the gattage. The spotting tower and the suicider grot came next and give it a more 'crewed' sort of feel. The little fellow on the sponson is drilling a hole to feed control wires so he can mount another missile on the side. It's a living touch that tested well with my critics.
The Nob on top is riding a warbike hardwired into the tank. His exhaust dumps pretty much into the Emperor's face (when I get an Emperor). Da Golden Gobbla is one of the biggest warbikes in the galaxy, and the Emperor is riding bitch. Boomtown.
In the back you have 3 jet engines, because Orks like to go fast. The wing is for stability at high speed, because Ork. That green cowling is made from the spout of a maple syrup bottle. That green plastic is extremely hard to glue Stuff just wouldn't stick to it. Some electrical wire was bent into pipes that ring the whole thing and the shield is from a Deff Dread.
It's not finished, but until I get an Emperor mini, it's on hold. So I thought I'd share what I've done so far so that people can get excited and perhaps suggest which variation of the Emperor they'd like to see. Full golden glory Emperor in his prime? Half destroyed zombie Emperor? A head in a jar? Ideas and suggestions are welcome.
This has been a labour of insanity and love. Once it's built I'll be looking for someone to paint it; I haven't the skill to do it justice.
Please go nuts with the feedback and share it everywhere Orks are loved.
Signing off for now,
Mad Mek Shiny
P.S. I have to give credit to two inspirational gentlemen, without whom this project would have fallen flat on its face. To the greatest tabletop general, SunTzu-level strategist and my harshest critic, my blood brother DibMonkey and to the Imperial Historian, Zenlord and overall creative force behind some key design elements, my brother-from-another-mother Jubbana The Potato Lord, I salute you both. Thank you for everything.

I'm not impressed by the photos. It doesn't capture well with a camera. To hold it in your hands however it seems far more coherent. Thanks for the feedback.

Impressive build! I like some of the little details you added (the patches on the conveyor belt for instance). I'm not sold on the Ork biker mounted on top... I would like to see his front axle attached to the tank, right now it's just sort of "resting" on top. Maybe add a torso to the conveyor belt? You might also consider adding some more rivets to the sections of plasticard. That's all I can think of for now. I agree that once primed and painted the whole piece will tie together nicely.
Thanks for sharing!

Some of it still looks too uniform to me. The barrels of the guns are the same length and width. The turrets are very neat and tidy. There's no way an Ork could resist makin dem MORE SHOOTY.
I like the idea very much. It just feels a bit half full.

You are in my ballpark friend! I have a whole bunch of bolt heads that I shaved off the baneblade (which has waaaaay too many exposed bolts) I will use them to stud all the plasticard trim panels. and the bike will have more connection, the original idea was to have it raised up on hydraulic rams like a flight simulator pod, but that looked really stupid. I plant to add some strutting, a banded bracket at the front axle and a few levers sprouting from the tank turret for the Nob to pull to enable various features. The conveyor and the gore chutes will have mess added to them post paint, so no worries there
Now, as for paint I will need to con some sap, ahem, I mean legend, into painting it for peanuts. I'm sure I can find someone haha

Wow, hard to please, aren't you? But, for your pleasure sir, this is a WIP. Barrel trim is in the works, for both of them. As for the turret, it is waiting for the Emperor. Once the Emperor is in place pipes and houses and patches can start to be added. Didn't wanna trim it too much until I'd run all the feed and power cables across it. Then I can see what needs filling. A lot of my modifications have been made uphill, a lot of my friends are were telling me I was over-doing it. Glad to see someone thinks otherwise!
I appreciate the feedback!

I love Ork looted stuff!
I've got a bit of an idea to make a Kill Team of looted Tyranids at some point, but looking forward to how this comes together

The Ork bike is now chained to the deck and the forks are plated in (pic 1) and mounted with hydraulic stabilisers (pic 2). As for the gore, that will go on after paint, to make life easier.
And rivets... Well, the Baneblade is covered in bolts, so I shaved a few off and used them for the plasticard sections (pic 3)
