A little building I threw together for an upcoming tutorial... Made from a cardboard gift box and bits from the Maelstrom's Edge terrain sprue.

And an unpainted shot to show the construction:

That terrain sprue is pure gold. I most definitely have to get my hands on it. Excellent job!

Thanks

This is just the latest in a long (and still growing) string of buildings created with this sprue, and I'm still having all sorts of fun with it.

Great build! I've been meaning to grab a couple of those sprues for a while now and this reminds me that I need to bump those up on the priority list.

The building is a little plain. I think it needs a Se7en painted on it.

Indeed... I've generally been putting designation numbers and signs and the like on my buildings to pretty them up, but wanted to keep this one fairly plain to keep the tutorial reasonably basic and achievable for beginners. Throw too much bling on there and it all starts to get a little daunting if you're not too confident in what you're doing.

Having said that, I think the darker look does also lend itself quite well to a certain grim-dark universe where war is more or less everything. (Ooh, that's catchy. I should write advertising taglines...)

I like it alot. Might have to purchase some of those sprues for Necromunda esque habs.

Is that Mantic scenery (is Maelstrom's edge made by Mantic?)
I have bought the modular Dead Zone stuff from them but didnt realise they did these, great way to make scenery. Now I need to regress to about 10 years old and ask Mummy to stop throwing away old boxes

I've been playing a while, my first model was a lead marine and my first White Dwarf was bound with staples

No, Maelstrom's Edge is nothing to do with Mantic. It's made by a company called 'Spiral Arm Studios', which is owned and run by the same guys who own Dakka Dakka.

Nice stuff, I'm in the process of doing a load of smaller hab block type buildings using Wargames Tournaments' MDF buildings as a base.
I've got quite a few Greebles saved up from GW COD, Mantic, Platformer and other various odds and sods plus a load of textured plasticard.
Have you got the dimensions of the detail panels that you have used vertically and maybe the door.
They're a little expensive but I'd still like to order a couple of these sets to spice things up a bit.

Everyone: No.
