Hey just wondering how daemons work in 30k are they a fully playable faction? Or are they only an option as allies?
Thanks

If you run either the khorne or nurgle daemon prince of the ruinstorm they can be a HQ instead of lord of war.
They then use the daemons book.
So as long as you have either of those you can run a full daemon army.
Meaning with the changes to bases, daemons can now be used in age of sigmar, 30k and 40k.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

They can be used in 30k as a full army with the character above, or as allies to Cult Horde Imperialis Militia or Word Bearers with the right commander/rite of war.
Both characters are really good - their warlord traits are amazing - but you really, really need to build an army for Samus with him in mind - Skull Cannons and Soulgrinders are key to get those turn 1 character kills so he can arrive where you want - he's tough but not tough enough to eat a horus heresy army's worth of firepower.
Corbax is a lot tougher, and - whilst he really, really needs to deep strike in too - can tolerate the odd bit of interceptor fire when he does.

I was recently listening to the Age of Darkness podcast, who contacted FW about daemons in 30K.
Apparently (and surprisingly), the answer they got from FW was that Samus and Corbax DO NOT 'unlock' 40K daemons for 30K. The references in those two datasheets to HQs and Codex: CD are there for future design room whenever they finally properly address daemons in 30K. *shrug*
Obviously, we can do whatever we want, and I'm sure FW is fine with that too. But *apparently* in their eyes the only fully approved way to field them is alongside WB or a warp cult.

I'd heard likewise, that, according to FW, we are not along the timeline enough yet to have full daemon armies and that their appearance should be a rarity and only as allied forces.
