GW made a new site, it looks lovely and it has all sorts of cool stuff.
Including the cartoons made of the cool GW community guys : D

These guys here -> http://www.warhammer-community.com/about-the-community/

But the site also includes this strange picture called "home-hero" on their opening site. This one -> http://17890-presscdn-0-51.pagely.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/home-hero-1-1600x716.jpg

It looks incredibly odd to me. First there are no kids ...
When was the last time you saw any GW promo photo with no kids.
Second they don't look at all like your regular gang of players, it looks more like regular folks or even a sitcom cast. They are all in very unusual poses, it does not look like they are actually playing the game or even pretending to play the game, and why are they all sitting one one side of an immense table. It all looks odd to me. Could this be an inside joke ? Could they be all sorts of genius never seen studio painters, or the sales staff, friends of the boss in there or are they just a bunch of random actors. Who has any idea what is going on here.
And what about the name... Why is it the home part , and what makes these guys heroes ?

Ps. Do not cyber bully them by making memes of them or giving them insulting names. The mods don't like it and it makes me feel guilty for asking an honest question.

That's some of the white dwarf team isn't it? And probably people who look after the site.

No this is the website team

5 of them

http://www.warhammer-community.com/about-the-community/

No idea who those others are. Perhaps they were kidnapped off the local street and forced to pose for some shots? Or bribed with a free trip to Bugmans bar in warhammer world.....

They look more like hired actors. 3 girls 4 guys split and they look like a stock photo. They are NOT the White Dwarf team

Well, at least you managed to get a fat joke in there. And the two people you insulted were both women. Good job mate, I'm sure this will encourage anyone at GW reading this to interact even more with the community.

They hired actors/models who fit the type of players they wanted; I just tossed in funny captions. I can easily see any one of these people actually playing 40k - but the photo itself is almost comically set up. Specifically the fellow painting on the far right. I clearly remember White Dwarf having photos in the "Find your local store" section that had much more convincing photographs of players. The 40k rule books seem to be on point as well - and if I remember the LOTR rule books (two towers and so on) had actual creators of the game as the players in their photos. I don't see a fat joke though.

RULE #1.

THAT WAS NOT EVEN CLOSE TO FUNNY - OR APPROPRIATE.

Please be a bit more mindful of the rules of the site before posting things - especially 'funny' things.

Thanks!

Larger lady? wow I admit the tooth comment was terrible for Becky - but I couldn't think of another name for the young lady reading a novel at the table.

I assume they showed for a per diem day shoot for a handful of tutorial/rulebook photos.

I am sorry for my original post it was never my intention to pick on them nor enable others to do so. I am honestly interested in the story behind this odd picture.
I edited my first post to make this clear.

How about you just apologise for your crass attempt at humour and move on rather than trying to divert eh? Show a bit of maturity.

That guy in the middle looks really familiar to me. I think I may have seen him at a convention or something local. The rest of them look like people who were roped into a photo shoot and are just trying to get through. Well spotted... or examined, i guess! that's definitely what's it's meant to be, i agree. It's a bit awkwardly posed, but you know? i don't think i've ever seen a picture in a GW book that didn't look a bit awkward.

What about buying GW products?

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

Third lass from the right is Holly Goodwin I believe. She's Jes Goodwin's daughter and does all the new Forgeworld Transfer Sheets.

Edit: The gent 2nd from the left, I believe, does a lot of the Forgeworld Technical Drawings. His name escapes me at the moment
Third lass from the left I vaguely recognise. I've seen her about, staffing the hall during Warhammer World Open Days.

This is why (it's about the image and how it's used and not about the people): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hero_image. If I remember correctly it comes from traditional publishing (for page filling images?) and was adopted in web publishing for the big images at the top/in the background when these became a trend.

That is the back wall at Warhammer World's gaming hall, and those are actually pretty much standard for the average people who turn up there.
Apart from the huge lack of gaming aids, that photo is pretty much what I'd expect to see if I look around the room.

Maybe they don't look like the average stereotype of gamers, but yes, the people turning up at the venue are usually well kept, mixed genders and sometimes even smiling.

I could try and find out when I'm next over, but honestly now the "heroes" part is answered, it seems a little strange to be asking.
