This is the second time this has happened using the new Citadel line of spray cans, first with Mechanicus Grey and now with Caliban Green.

Exactly the same thing occurred each time.
I shook the hell out of the can for about 3 minutes.
Sprayed at a reasonable distance.
Did not over spray it, was very careful to get a consistent coat.

The first bit that I sprayed was perfect, and the second comes out like the picture attached......

Also the last time I used their White spray, all of the paint came out of the nozzle as a dry powder but not immediately, only by about the 7th or so model..... It did not dry on the model, I was able to brush it off and expose the plastic beneath.

I'm very very confused by this, have any of you guys experienced something like this with these new citadel spray cans?
What the hell is happening here!?

What part of Oz are you in and what was the weather like?

Srlsy.
Rattle cans (ALL of them) have issues with humidity (too wet OR too dry), as well as temperature and wind.

In the last week, the weather in Newcastle has been positively S**tful for spraypainting with rattlecans, for example. Too much humidity, too windy OR too rainy.

The powdery effect is usually from the paint drying in flight before it hits the object. It either has to be sanded back or stripped off.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

That is not dead which can eternal lie ...

... and yet, with strange aeons, even death may die.

Brisbane, and the weather has been a bit wet over the last few days but that aside the heat has been nuts too.

I'll definitely be stripping this piece down and re-painting but moving forward I'll be much more careful about the conditions when I use sprays.

You could also be holding it too far away as the paint is drying before it hits the model. Kind of have to work with the distance a bit to get around the weather. Too close makes it too thick however.

Less than ideal as a solution, but consider investing in a spray booth.

Living in the U.K., I'm somewhat at the mercy of the elements, and getting a 'just right' day, let alone one where I'm not at work or otherwise busy, is a sod.

My spray booth has changed all that. Provided my flat isn't humid (rarely is), I can now spray successfully in all weathers.

Amazon stock them, so have a look and see what you think.

it's been high humidity here for nearly 2 weeks, I'm not far from brisy myself and I've been waiting for better weather to prime some stuff so I'd say that's your main reason. If your spraying outside a bucket of ice water for the spray can's can help when it's overly hot, not much helps outside in humidity though. A desktop spray booth as suggested works well in airconditioning as it'll reduce heat and humidity, i have asthmatic's in my house now so I only prime/paint in my shed so I don't use one anymore but they do work if you want to pay for a setup.
