I like what you're doing with the rather hum-drum plastic kits. I think they're more interesting for something like Necromunda (as I never see anyone actually really use terrain short of starting dreadnoughts off in towers etc. for 40K).
Overall, looking good. I'd like to see the finished product.

Cool! nice part about using pink foam for the substratum, you could easily make craters and such, like battle damage.

I like that you are actually utilizing the different stories, rather than just building up to a point like most of the kits. Particularly that second to last building. Well done!

Looking pretty cool. As others have said, good use of the kits to create something thematic and evocative.
As for the gate it's hard to make a recommendation without knowing what your plans are, but are you sure you even need one? For my personal taste I would do something like a massive, slab-like double door with some typical 40k embellishments.

Very cool --- for all the "blandness" people complain about 40K the vast majority of it comes from chasing tokens around on a barely populated table.
Terrain - exciting terrain with elevation, bridges, gaps, and difficult to solve problems is a sure-fire way to increase game interest. It presents a tactical challenge much like *gasp* some real combat situations do.
I also think that very cool and different terrain is excellent for forcing people to reconsider army composition. Well done. I wish I saw more tables like this in 40K gaming.

For sure. I always enjoy a filled battlefield. Any terrain that dictates movement, i.e. "fatal funnel, chokepoint, elevation" adds a depth that fighting on an (relatively) open field can provide.
I played a 2v1 3000k game last night using cities of death rules. With an abundance of terrain (buildings + LOS blockers) all 3 of us agreed, "kicked it up a notch!".
The OP's stuff looks great. for a gatehouse, maybe housing a 40k'd portcullis
, something like the chaos dreadfort.

Thanks everyone I appreciate the input. To describe the table(s) it’s actually 2 4x8 tables that are being used here. The bridge crosses from “blasted” landscape into a city. No the bridge isn’t done yet but that is in progress now. I like the portcullis idea. But I was thinking a large slab like door, it strikes me as very imperial. Thoughts

Thats quite the fantastic sideways fortress monastery you got there
though il say that i wish you had textured up the foam a bit more to hide the layers.
also cool pipe line. i think those canister towers are asking for a little something something on its tops to hide that it is a plastic bottle.

I agree 100 percent. Been working on that one myself. Trying to figure out what to put up there. I’m thinking some type of gantry Automatically Appended Next Post: I see what you are talking about with the monastery.
