Getting back into the hobby after a 10 year break. I thought it might be fun to keep track of my progress here.

Any feedback or critique is always welcome, as I am trying to improve. So if you see something that needs work, or have some great tip you want to share, please, PLEASE do

I decided to start off my army with some Nurgle units. The first thing I painted was my plague drones, because I thought they were the coolest unit in the Start Collecting box, and I wanted something fun to get me back into the swing of things. In retrospect, something easier might have been a better call, considering it was quite the process trying to figure out how to blend, and drybrush, and basically do ANYTHING again. Overall though, while they took forever, I'm pretty happy with how they turned out.

Hopefully I can start averaging more than one model a week, otherwise it is going to be YEARS before I have a decent playable army painted.

Next I decided to work on my Nurglings. I knew I wanted a variety of colours, so I went with 3 shades of green and a brown to give them some variation. I really struggled with the eyes. If I could go back and re-do any one aspect of these guys, that would be it. But I already have so many layers of paint around the eyes I'm leery to add any more.

Now I am working on my unit of Plaguebearers and my Herald of Nurgle. Here is my first plaguebearer complete.

I will keep adding more units as I get them done

Nice work. I love the bases -- and the way they contrast with the darker palette of the figures.

Took a break from painting Plaguebearers to finish up my Herald of Nurgle.

I'm normally not a fan of nurgle but I love your plague bearers! You seem to have a decent grasp on blending, it's difficult to see where the gteens and browns start and stop. Care to share your expertise?

Thank you so much. I'm hardly an expert. This is only second unit attempting wet blending, and on my plague drones I only used it on the one trunk. Lots of small horizontal brush strokes after laying out the two colours and then a lot of going back and forth when I'd pull too much of one colour in either direction. I think doing a wash of Athenian Camoshade afterwards really helped smooth it out. But it's a useful skill I'm having fun learning and there's lots of it to do on the plaguebearers so I'm getting lots of practice.

Three more Plaguebearers finished. I started using a more pinkish Flesh tone for around the wounds and for the boils. I think it was something missing before. Next I am working on three medium-green plaguebearers, then 3 brown plaguebearerers. Just for some variety. Then what? Maybe a herald of Slaanesh or Karanak. Or some pink horrors. I haven't decided yet.

Haven't had much time to paint lately, but here are my three medium green Plaguebearers complete. Working on three brown ones now. Variety is good, right?

Nurgle models are done! ... for now. I know I'll be getting more in the future. Must have all the Daemons. All of them! Hordes of them! Erm... sorry got a little carried away there. But for now it is going to be nice to be painting something different as I move onto my not-so-pink pink horrors. Pictures of them coming... soon? Hopefully. Provided I find time to paint. In the mean time, finished Nurgle dudes.

Really liking these, I'm doing nurgle myself and it's nice to see other takes on them. Looking forward to seeing more.

And my first not-so-pink (but still more pink than I had initially planned) pink horror. This is my trial guy to get the colorscheme I want figured out. I'm not much of one for following the official colorschemes. I want to make things my own.

Still not based. So much quicker than painting those Plaguebearers though! I should make an army full of these guys I would have it finished in no time... well if by no time I mean sooner than 5-10 years from now.

Been very busy, but back to painting again!

Completed my Changeling. It was probably my favourite model to paint so far. I'm also pretty happy with how he turned out.

Current WIP: Herald of Tzeentch and a pile of pink horrors. Made my first attempt at freehand painting a tzeentch logo on the herald's loin cloth.
