So, I'm making some Star Wars decorations for a party, and I need to paint about 150 square feet of trench and laser turrets by Saturday. Normally I would drybrush white or grey over black, but that might be too time consuming. Would spraying white primer over black undercoat achieve a lighting effect or just look crappy?

Also, making two dozen helmets. The first batch were nixed because the smelled toxic. Is there a fast, non-stinky method for weathering helmets? They are black.

Thanks!

And more turrets.

The trench is mostly Tupperware and takeout containers glued to cardboard and poster board.

black spray then drybrush with a big ol' household paintbrush and some cheap grey acrylic

Not gonna find a quicker method, really

black spray primer all over, grey primer (a good auto shop should stock it) from a bit further away, from the top only, white spray from even further away from the top but not all around (say a 90 degree arc).

Also I've started taking photos to use as reference for weathering which can be found here. Please send me your photos so they can be found all in one place!!

Thanks, guys! I'll test the spray method first. Maybe I will drybrush the turrets while waiting for sprays to dry.

How far away is too far, where the primer will form fuzzies?

Quick and sloppy turrets.
