Hey guys!

Need some help. I painted up some models for both color schemes, but I'm extremely torn. I like both, but black is very hard to pull off to make it stand out on the table top. However, I feel like I did an okay job with the edge highlighting etc.

Let me know which you guys like best! Whichever one wins, I'll be painting up and showcasing a full 2000pts list over the next 6 months. I'll add newly painted units monthly to a new gallery showcase thread I'll make after this poll. Apologies ahead of time for the photos, I took them real quick - but future photos will be much better.

Your colour contrasts works better on the black ones. Black and bones are good. Purple and bones, not so much.

The purple is very flat and dull. It would need more shading. Also, the purple has bo colour to contrast against. No dark/light. No hot/cold. No puple/yellow. Purple and purple/brown go well with white as well, but it is not that evil looking. You can also donpurple orange for a 70s colour look.

Dark eldar models lends themself tremendusly well for black/dark with a colour highlight. Perhaps you can do black with a purple highlight? Instead of purple with a pastel purple highlight. Just a thought.

2000 points in 6 months? A good thing DE do not have a lot of transports and cheap hordes of infantery witj loads of details...

Seconded. It's a very good black scheme, but the weapons get visually lost and indistinct. Maybe the bone scheme you use on the sword could be applied to the guns?

A squad or vehicle a week isn't that hard if you're motivated.

I disagree i love the purple you painted. But as shadenuat pointed out, why not mix? Youve achieved a great look with both schemes!

I like them both, a mix would be interesting. Going off of the Wych with purple and black mix, perhaps a bright green highlight on some of the the black as a counter highlight?

Both look nicely menacing.
If you need to chose one, I would go with black -it looks vey cool on them and is really well done. Perhaps not with the red hair.

The way I would like to see them though, is black base, various legs and arms in purple (uniqe variatons for each model) then you go about doing bright pink spot colours.

Purple is a magical color. And they look best like that IMO.

I think the photos you've taken don't do your models justice, which is why I'd be picking the black armour over the purple. If you have some more shots of the purple armour I'd be keen on seeing them!
