Hey all,

I looked at my bitz box and registrated that there are still enough minis from my KoW Wood Dwarf project to create a small force of Chaos Dwarfs (which I wanted to do for ages). And since the old GW models are as beautiful as expensive, conversion work it was. Here are the first units. Will field them for Dragon Rampant (there are no special army lists, just one generic one so no problem) and later for SAGA Age of Magic too (still waiting for the german translation) as Masters of the Underearth.

Here you go:

Lovely stuff, great work on the bases.

Cool chaos Dwarfs there, loving the bases, much more striking than my poor efforts at lava bases. How did you achieve the effect? Are the black parts just painted on or are they raised up?

Liking the classic Chaos Dwarf by the throne, but is missing an arm?

Awesome lava bases, great army.

Where is that earth elemental from, he looks so familiar.

Thank you!

@gobert: The bases are primed white, then painted yellow. Darker areas got more and more red into the yellow, lighter got more and more white (colours mixed on the base. Make sure to let the base dry after you mixed the red in the yellow to not get any red and white mixed together). After that, black dots are painted onto the surface. The darker the ground colour is, the bigger the black dots get.
The dwarf isn't missing an arm, that's just the perspective.

@Kid_Kyoto: Thanks! The earth elemental is from Scotia Grendel.

P.S.: Here are some wip photos of the general, built from an old bitzbox mini

Titus, thanks for the tips, I’ll give the technique a go on my next Chaos minis. I can now see his arm, I hadn’t realised he was wielding the axe two-handed!
