It took around an hour to build and then another 30ish minutes to magnetize everything. As for the airbrush I am using the badger patriot 105, it seems like a good one so far. Though through reading there isn't an adjustable nozzle so if you want to airbrush a small area you have to get up close to do that.

Beautiful work Us, you have really done that brilliant chunk of resin justice. I like the restraint and realistically placed weathering as well.

So...what is next?

What is up next? Nothing too awe inspiring, just finishing up the last ten tactical marines, their apothecary and Alvarex Maun. After that I got the special troops, a contemptor, rhino, rapier, and fire raptor to do in about a month and a half...I gotta get to work fast

Alright after taking a break from painting and the looming deadline coming up in about a month I decided to try and finish the last ten tactical marines before I leave for Boston for a few days. After the marathon painting session to finish the leviathan I find it nice to get back to the line troops.

Just realized how dark they look actually , but you are correct beakie helmets are the best no matter what anyone else says

Thought I had posted on this thread, guess not. I love your leviathan dread. The weathering and tubing is superb. The red line really looks good on his helmet.

Tactical marines are definitely a grind with Raven Guard, they are looking great. The forgeworld helmets are so awesome and add a really nice touch of detail.

Thanks man the leviathan is probably my favorite model in the army so far (but then again my favorite is always changing ). As for the line troops yeah they are a grind since they are all black and without much distinction besides some leather and white.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Alright just a quick picture of the 5 tactical marines I have completed. I will try and get the other 5 (sgt and vexilla included) done before I leave on friday and get a nice family shot of them. After that is is the apothecary and alvarex maun, after that probably the rhino right quick and onto the mor deythan (still deciding on what color their capes should be red maybe?).

Dont you all hate the automatic appended feature?

Anyways I got some work in on the last 5 tactical marines, I had a long day at work and I have to pack for my vacation so I did not get a whole lot in (probably about 50 percent done at this point). I hope to have these guys done monday or tuesday at the latest and then I have to start on the rhino and mor deythan.

Tacs are all coming along nicely, the finished ones are splendid.

I reckon the MD's cloaks are ripe for some camouflage effects, though I'm not sure what type would work best with the basing/scheme.

Yeah that is the problem I was thinking of. The specific color for the cape and the pattern. Stripes are out because of the base pattern (maybe tiger stripes? But that seems kinda rouge trader ish to me) digital would be tough, mottled maybe. I could just do a solid color with highlights obviously also

How about a slightly shiny, smooth, high-contrast look, as if they're active camo cloaks that haven't taken on a texture yet. You could even experiment with a part-cloaking effect, the texture from the base starting to creep up the cloak.

The part cloaking effect sounds interesting. Paint about 1/3 to 1/2 as the base scheme and then with a blue line waving up (probably kantor as a base then teclis and then a baharoth blue with a fine white highlight) and red for the normal cloak color.

I had a good vacation and it was time for me to finish the tactical grind. I have almost finished the last 5 marines bar sealing and matting the transfers and painting the guns. After this the apothecary and alvarex maun on the the docket followed by the rhino and the mor deythan.
