my Infiltrators use thinned black templar contrast paint over silver to shade their guns...
I also did a Smash Captain with blood angels red contrast over silver. The "gold" armor is just contrast Aggrax Dunes (or whatever it's called) over silver as well.

Contrasts look great over metals...if you layer them nice and flat. The gray is great over metals to darken them and this is Talassar over a bright aluminum.

I like the look of Terradon Turquoise (contrast) on Retributor Armor. The result is a nice, metallic green.
I hope these pictures give an Impression (its on the rifles)
Spoiler:
I also like to apply a more or less thin layer ofTerradon Turquoise on the combination of Ceramid White + Seraphim Sepia. The Sepia shifts the color a bit more to the greenish side and increases depth.
So in these pictures: the turbans of the upper 4 pictures are before contrast (Ceramid White + Seraphim Sepia), the bottom pair of pictures is after contrast

I'll try something over the Army Painter Bone tomorrow and see what happens...
Hmm ok, cool. Thanks. I'm looking to use skeleton horde over a preferably white undercoat.
Pyroalchi wrote:Its still an GW color, but Ceramid White is definitly matte and it works just fine with Terradon Turquoise and Nazdreg Yellow at least.
I use Vallejo Air Primer "Grey". This appears to be extremely close to the Grey Seer paint in colour. It works great with the contrast paints.
I have also experimented with using the Flesh Tearer red over Retributer Gold and this looks nice for gemstones. I have heard that the contrasts are better sprayed over metallics as it gives a more consistent less patchy cover, but you do loose the "contrast" and you're instead just colouring the metallic.
