Hi all!
Quite unexpectedly I'm finally getting a 3d printer (FDM). It's primarily for hobby-unrelated works, but it would be a waste not to utilize it's idle time for some nice terrain pieces. But because I did not plan for it I did not follow any interesting kickstarters and searching through thingsverse is Sisyphean labour.
So question to all those of you who do print (or buy printable) terrain:

What are your favourite designs (and where to find them)? They can be either free or paid ones, original or not-so-original designs, with enough 40K/Necromunda visual style to go nicely with Sector Mechanicus (no generic/Infinity plain sci-fi style please). I'm also interested in cool Tyranid and Eldar themed designs.

Thematically what style are you going for? If you're looking for Grimdark I'm sure plenty of people will chime in.

Imperial Terrain makes some nice files (and has collections from a variety of users), but their main aesthetic is Star Wars - though it all looks great on a 40K table anyway.

I rather enjoy scrolling through thingiverse

A random assortment of buildings.that I might print for.40k, necromunda.or at 15mm scale.for.Horizon.Wars.

If you scroll to the bottom there are is a collection of Zone Mortalis compatible walls and columns, scaled.for the original Necromunda boards.

And here is a random.selection of potential scatter pieces

https://www.thingiverse.com/Gflinty/collections/scatter

I also included a bunch of civilian and industrial.vehicles in this collection that could be use in Necromunda as scatter terrain.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

I hope you’re getting a heated bed because FDM prints tend to curl off the build plate in the corners on a cold bed, it’s just part of how the plastic cools.

Also these style printers can have trouble with Nid style designs, they don’t handle curves or overhangs as well as resin printers.

That said you should be able to print plenty of 40k and Necromunda terrain for pennies on the dollar browsing Thingiverse, I’m browsing there every day. Once you find a design look for the “Collections” it’s part of for easily finding other designs. People tend to make the file names generic so GW doesn’t easily search them all out and try to get them removed. These Custodes grav tanks I printed for AT are found searching for Interstellar Janitors for example.

@Flinty:
Thanks! Those are very helpfull collections - not only some usefull stuff right there, but it is exactly what I needed to help me branch-navigate through Thingsverse. I went through thousands of designs today with several keywords, but density of usefull stuff was simply to low for such semi-blind search to not be a waste of time.

@Elbows:
While some of my terrain inspirations on Pinterest indeed come from Star Wars structures, Imperial Terrain doesn't catch my eye. As to what style I'm going for - nothing very specific ATM but generally think Ash Wastes but less Shanty Town and more abandoned/ruined refineries/factories. For interiors Warlayer 4.0 has nice vibe to it, as I don't like Zone Mortalis wall thickness - too much of table space gets wasted for walls.

@Fajita Fan:
I'm getting Ender-3 Pro. Unfortunately, while I love how suitable resin printers are for wargaming needs, they are completely unsuitable for the main purpose I'm getting my printer. As to searching Thingsverse - generic names I understand, what annoys me is that everybody invents their own variation on hobby related keywords so broad searches have low density of usefull results and you can miss a lot - see my answer to Flinty above. But having said that I probably have enough designs in my preliminary collection now for months of printing time

Your next task will be to learn TinkerCAD.com, a really easy way to build your own block shapes to export as .stl files for printing. Seriously, spend an afternoon with that site learning how to combine shapes, make holes, use the workplane, and resize objects and you'll be knocking out your own custom walls/gangplanks/industrial sites in no time.

Thank you for your enthusiasm but perhaps I should have stated this in OP - I work in Blender for a living so making even not-so-basic custom designs is very much on the table, but a) I have to learn the medium first (e.g. understand why exactly Warlayer 4.0 or Dragon’s Rest BSF tiles print without supports) and what can be done this way, b) designing takes time and I already have too much projects competing for my free time, c) why reinvent the wheel when e.g. BSF tiles cost way, way less to purchase than my work time would to recreate something similar and they are top notch?

At the moment however it looks like I will have to design both Tyranid and Eldar tables, as I only found one nice Tyranid and one nice Eldar piece.

@Kale: yes, I have already found Warlayer and will probably buy 4.0 set of STLs for my Zone Mortalis games. Thank you nevertheless. Are there any other companies that do make themed sets? Besides Warlayer and Dragon's Rest?

@Flinty: I saw couple of those already, but I fell in love with Dragon's Rest tiles (not tokens) months ago, as soon as I bought BSF. Especially when cardboard hexes are so irritatingly too small for model limits. That is one dumb design from GW... So naturally now when I won't have to sell a kidney to have those (like, really, it costs more to buy those printed than to buy the printer...), it is settled. I will probably test my printer on those.

The dragons rest.kit is lovely. There was a set on ebay recently that went for super cheap but I couldn't really justify the expense. Happy to.print my own though
