Looking awesome Minus, Eden is a game I really fancy trying and I may pick up a couple of factions to see if I can get some other players involved.

Have you seem the new sculpts they have coming out?

And could you recommend two good starting factions?

Hi Eldercaveman !

Yep, the Askaris have 2 new sculpts this month ! I'll have to get them when I finish the models that are currently on my desk.
I have a game next week, so I'm painting Ghazi (the guy on his giant scorpio) in order to play a band with models I never played before (Ghazi + Almeh + Alghul).

Eden is a game that I really enjoy at the moment. The game is really dynamic, games are fast and brutal. And it's really enjoyable to have the possibility to bring all that's necessary for 2 players in a single backpack.

Concerning the factions, all are quite balanced. Of course there are better bands compositions than others, but overall the game is balanced.
Each faction also has a specific way to be played, due to their special rules and warriors competences.

What kind of gameplay do you like ? Shooting ? Hitting your opponents face with a cybernectic fist ? Making everything burn ?
Of course, I really like the Askaris. If you want 2 bands for you, I'd recommend to take one with few warriors, and one with larger effectives. That way, you'll have different gameplays, wich should be more interesting.

ISC is a very good low number faction, with models that can't be hurt (their characteristics remain the same until they die) and whose armour protect from ennemies attacks.
Askari is also a low number faction, but they have no armors. Their strength relies in their special capacities, and on their mutations that you can choose for each of your warriors... at the beginning of the game (so when you already know your mission and opponent... oh I love it ! ).

For larger bands, I quite like the jokers gameplay (well in fact I hate them 'cause i don't play them, I play AGAINST them ^^ ). They are a pain to face because they have a lot of fire attacks.
I also like the Matriarcat, with their deadly sisters that use slaves as a fodder.

Honnestly, I'd recommend to choose the factions based on the visual aspect. Do you have bands that rely appeal to you ?
If you have questions, you can ask me here (or by MP) it will be a pleasure to help you choose.

I painted my new Janissar this week-end, especially for our upcoming game.
Nice model, quite pleasant to paint.

Awesome! now I want some :-) the models are really really cool! metal? you've done a great job on the spider thing, the colour choice and blending from dark to light works really well especially with the green Djinn on top :-)

That's very cool... fantastic paint job too.

Yup ! Metal models.
When I first saw the pictures of this miniature, I thought "oh man, building it will be a pain". But in fact not, the cutting of the scorpio (not spider ) is really clever, and it's easy as hell to assemble.

I love that range. It would be fantastic to see some of you here (Bebop, Gits, Nerdy, Weety, etc...) paint Eden models. I'd love it !

Well, i may go check some out and see what's what :-) they really are nice and even in metal they seem as if they'd be quite light?

Be hard to find a model in the range cooler than that last one.

Automatically Appended Next Post:

I checked out there web site. Found some fantastic models I'd love to play with. Problem is the cost (once you add in the exchange rate and shipping from Europe to the US) when you figure they're figures for a game I'll never get a chance to play.

Yes, it's metal but it's not too heavy, and it's a quite tender material. It's much more easier to remove the mold lines on these than on GW models.
Another solution is to buy their Boardgame named "Escape", in this box you'll get ISC and Resistance models that are made of plastic.
Maybe a bit expensive if you only want a model or two for painting purpose. ^^

Can't wait, hope the plane/spaceship/boat/... will get here fast !

Of course I'll tell you when I get the package.

Gitsplitta wrote:Be hard to find a model in the range cooler than that last one.

^^
There are all kind of models in their range, that's one of the points I like. Do you like Big killa robot ? Check.
A fat man with a flammer ? Check.
A mutant ? Check.
An alien ? Check.
...
A monkey ? A bear ?.... A lion ? Check.
Want more ?
A dressed up hyena ? Check.
Master Yoda maybe ? Well... Check.

There must be at least one model you'll like in there.

If you can combine you order with someone else, I think they offer shipping cost when the order reaches a certain value.
Anyway, I don't force you to buy any of their models. I just say I'd love to see you paint some.
(what are the models you like, by the way ?)

Of course you aren't forcing me Minus... didn't mean to come off like that. I just thought your suggestion had merit so I want and checked them out. Just had to swallow hard when I projected out the expense. It doesn't help that what I picked out was a boxed set, rather than just a single figure. I'll be honest Minus... their figures are a lot more interesting with YOUR paint job rather than those rather more mundane paint jobs that are on the web site. Your interpretation is much more exotic and interesting.

My problem is that I don't just like a single figure... that would be too easy. I like the boxed sets or groups that are supposed to go together. Of course the advantage to getting the boxed sets is that you get the rules as well.

For example:

Hord - Beast Master boxed set or beast master + chitinous hounds (3)
Nephilims - Starter Box
Escape - I really like the three robots, but they seem to be for another game (even though they're listed in the Eden section). Not sure.
ISC - black shinobi, Carmen Onryo, Carmen Samurai looks nice, but is almost too "normal" if you get my drift.

Hmmm... given the above list... perhaps I could try the ISC... it's the only one where my model choice doesn't involve a boxed set. That being said, I discovered I was adding the monetary difference on top of the listed US prices (which meant I was adding it twice). So cost isn't as bad as I'd thought originally.

Well... it can't be worse than GW prices ?
(just kidding)

Oh man.
Thank you. That's a nice compliment. Wow. I appreciate that.
(maybe you could send them an email, so they'll hire me and pay me millions for painting models )

Yes, in the box set you have the rules. Note that rules and all material such as cards and so on are available on their website for free. So you can get them even if you don't buy a starter.

It looks like you like the ISC. It's a really good faction, fun to play with or against.
All three robots from the escape box are also playable in Eden. The only problem - if I can say so - is that with these robots you don't have 100 points, only 85. I have the Escape box, and a friend at the gaming club had an initiation game with these ISC models. He loved that and bought the starter the next day.

The Nephilim Starter looks ggod too. It's not my favorite army because high tech aliens in a post apocaliptic game are not what comes to my mind first, but the models are nice. Their gameplay invlves lots of rerolls, it's a faction for players that don't have much luck when throwing dice.

I'm pretty happy with the purple on the Arkabut. And go ahead for the turquoise lenses. I use the good old Scaly Green from the previous GW range, this color is fantastic.

Ok, and yesterday we had a few games at the club so I took a lot of photos... and some of them are not too blurry.
My opponent plays Nephilim. His band looks good, I love the pink skin, it works well with the yellow in my opinion.

Almeh has a little discussion with Bo'Dagun in the first game (and gets killed, btw ^^ ).

This image is the deployement of the third game. The mutant in the middle is my objective, I have to bring it back to our laboratory. My ennemies play a "survival" mission, he gains victory points each turn for the models he has in a given radius in the middle of the board.
I deploy Almeh and Alghul together.

Ghazi, my Janissar (= the boss ^^ ) deploys on my right side between a wall and a ruin.

Yu'Silaa infiltrates in my territory. She should read the warning on the wall...

She comes on my left side in order to shoot at Almeh.

However, Almeh is fast and agile and Yu'Silaa misses her shots.
Almeh engages her and cuts the alien right in two.

The Nephilims charge my mutants. Note that Almeh gets in position to be able to counter attack next time (Almeh has a special rule that give her rerolls against wounded models, so she's perfect for "finishing" ennemies )

Thank you Gits. It was a good evening, we had fun.

I'm back with the wolves I painted for project 111. The photo is not so good because I wasn't home when I finished them, so I didn't have a good light.

These models were a pain to paint. I didn't enjoy it at all. I tried to do a good paintjob, because I like and support Project 111 (wich is for children who suffer of heavy diseases). But it wasn't fun. At all.
Though, painting the 2 characters (the Vampire and the Necromancer) was a great experience, so it balances it.

Stop chating Minus, let us see the pix...

Last Sunday, friends and I organized a Miniature games Convention near Paris. I exposed some of my models, and Bebop's guardsman was part of the display.

And today, I finished a new Eden model, the first Lahrima model. I went on a bright and rich green, kinda radioactive. I like it. Next Lahrima might be even more brighter.
