If they're re-releasing DV, they're taking their time.
But, 2 boxes on the shelves with the same rules-book, they're going to hold DV back until the Sanctus box is gone.

Or they are right on time, since the Starter usually appears months after the new edition.

We'll find out soon enough eh.

Well it's still available on the UK site, so either they drastically over-allocated us compared to the USA, or I'm going to get a platitudinous email later in the week offering me my money back(at least it better offer me my money back, they can take a long walk off a short pier if they think I'll accept store credit).

If they keep this up I'll have to dial my cynicism about GW back from 11 to 10; obviously having deals like this available perpetually on a rotation every few months would be better than a limited splash-release, but by my reckoning this boxed set is essentially a BOGOF offer, and I never thought we'd see discounts like this again after Island of Blood.

I need to acquire plastic Skavenslaves, can you help?
I have a blog now, evidently. Featuring the Alternative Mordheim Model Megalist.

"Your society's broken, so who should we blame? Should we blame the rich, powerful people who caused it? No, lets blame the people with no power and no money and those immigrants who don't even have the vote. Yea, it must be their fething fault." - Iain M Banks

"The language of modern British politics is meant to sound benign. But words do not mean what they seem to mean. 'Reform' actually means 'cut' or 'end'. 'Flexibility' really means 'exploit'. 'Prudence' really means 'don't invest'. And 'efficient'? That means whatever you want it to mean, usually 'cut'. All really mean 'keep wages low for the masses, taxes low for the rich, profits high for the corporations, and accept the decline in public services and amenities this will cause'." - Robin McAlpine from Common Weal

From Grot Orderly:

26th July Dark Vengance is coming back. All same old models are back plus an Aspiring Champion. As you can predict, new rulebook is there - soft cover.

Realm of Battle: Sector Imperialis - new 40k only plastic table, similar to the existing one which can be used for both systems.

Imperialis Basing Kit – 25 base clipons to match the new table.

Badrukk’s Flash Gitz –1x Kaptin Badrukk, 10x Flash Gitz, 6x Ammo Grots). Four of the six grots are brand new models.

So a "source" with access to a WD and a camera carefully only photographs the top quarter of the cover? You can tell me what you want, these MUST be intentional leaks...or Dark Eldars are behind this and revel in our frustration

That's the part at the end of the WD that 'previews' next week. Not the one with DV in it.

There has been nothing to suggest the contents of Dark Vengeance are changing.

If anything you might see accompanying plastic boxed sets of Chosen/Cultists, but that might be all.

Old habits. How about the rumor of the dark vengeance set and aspiring champion? New model or recycled?

I am not a fan of buying a RoBB, but the new one actually looks pretty cool. Do we know if it's the same price as the current one?

Don't regret too fast, I don't think we know if it's a complete board or just a few panels to mix with the other ones.

I'm really happy about this, i've been waiting too long for these.

So far we have seen 2 different panels? The first leak, and then this one with the imperial eagles, correct?

My apologies for not reading all 29 pages, but I've got 2 questions.

1) Has it been determined if the mini-dex in the starter box is a full rulebook or if it is missing any significant sections?

2) I'm unclear regarding the new starterbox policy. Is this THE 7th edition starterbox or just the first of several starterboxes that will be released, each with a different set of forces inside?

Kanluwen wrote:There are 3 missions.
The first mission(Green Tide, Grey Fog) starts with just the Grey Hunters against all of the Ork infantry(no Killa Kans).
The second mission(Fortress 26) is all the Wolves against just the Killa Kans(Krumpa's Killa Kans) and Gretchin unit(called Rustgob's Runts) The Killa Kans operate as individual models and both the Killa Kans and Gretchin mob can be 'recycled' into play if the Wolves completely wipe out those units.
The third mission(Gofftown) is everything v. everything and using the formations. Grukk's Rippin' Krew have access to Grukk's tellyporta array which means they can all Deep Strike. Fierce-eye's Finest are an interesting one where once one unit in the formation has shot at or charged an enemy, successive units in the formation who choose the same target re-roll failed attempts to shoot or charge.

In the past when box sets contained mini-campaign booklets that allowed you to use the contents of the box without first having to get the larger game, they were rarely, if ever, played. They were seen as not being the real game. As being a waste of time or for kiddies or whatever.

I think they really should take centre stage more. And big 100 model armies with foot high centrepiece kits should take the back seat more. The three SR campaigns sound like a lot of fun and hopefully people will give them an honest go and then build from there, trying out different things and largely ignore the "build a 2000 point army" treadmill. I think there's a lot of potential for lower model count scenarios with 40k and hopefully the people who managed to preorder these boxes will take the time to enjoy their full potential.

Or the scenarios will turn out to be badly thought out, not really that deep or fun and the bias against them will be proven to be justified.

Balance in pick up games? Two people, each with their own goals for the game, design half a board game on their own without knowing the layout of the board and hope it all works out. Good luck with that. The faster you can find like minded individuals who want the same things from the game as you, the better.

In ur base, killin ur d00dz

I'll add something a bit more thought provoking then.

Judging by the two armies in this set. Since Orks came out the most recently and Space Wolves are judged to be next, could this be a new oncoming trend? Like say for example, Blood Angels came out next followed by Dark Eldar, does anyone else think the next campaign series would be of those two armies?

I want this box set to be a thing so so so so badly. My current goal for my army is a Mek's Workshop with a detachment of Freebootas, and if they do a boxed set (meaning it should have a discount built into the basic price) that is available at normal stores (meaning I can get it for 20% off the normal price) I will cry tears of looting, plundering joy..

Yeah, that would be pretty great. A taster of the next army with the current army, good price point, encourage people to start the new army when it comes out.
