Thanks man! I can't wait to have the entire unit painted so people can see the death dealt to them by this unit.

Honestly they are my favorite so far also! It does help that I stuck to do doing troops before moving onto the cool stuff , but I am glad you and everyone seems to like the cloaks as I was worried people wouldn't like them

Well as promised I have finished the first 5 mor deythan, I decided not to do transfers on them to keep with the fluff since they were so stealthy. I also think I did a better job with the pictures this time around so tell me what you all think!

Here is some fluff on the mor deythan so you can see how stealthy they were/are

Spoiler:
The Mor Deythan, known informally as the "Shadow Masters", were a small elite cadre of infiltration squads within the Raven Guard Legion during the era of the Great Crusade and Horus Heresy in the late 30th and early 31st Millennia. In a Legion already well known for its nigh unsurpassed skill in infiltration tactics, the Mor Deythan were, however, far more than specialists in the arts of stealth, for each warrior was a veteran of the Lycaen Uprising who had fought at the side of their Primarch Corvus Corax himself. These elite Legionaries were rumored to have inherited a modicum of the unique trait of their genetic father that allowed them to "Shadow-Walk", enabling them to deny their presence to anything with a mind, making them effectively invisible.

You know when you start painting and you say oh its getting late I will just finish up this one step then go to bed? Well I took it a bit too far and almost finished the other 5 mor deythan in one night (its currently 3 am and I am regretting this ).
So all that is left is to finish up the guns (some highlights and washes for the flamer) and to do the weathering powder but beyond that the mor deythan are done. Up next is the rhino

Well I was able to stop at my local gw and talk to my adepticon partner to start figuring out what lists we are going to bring to the doubles tournament and I decided to get some group pictures of my army so far (minus the leviathan since I forgot it at home)

As promised here is an actual picture of the completed squad, do you guys want a collage one? Idk if I feel like it is worth it since they are pretty much the same as the last ones. Otherwise tomorrow is airbrushing day so I will get a start on the rhino and contemptor dread.

Thanks man! It was real nice to see them all like that because it gives me something to be 1 proud of and 2 show how close I am to having a fully painted army.

Well today was kinda fail, I was able to base coat my contemptor and rhino with my airbrush. But when I went to do the white stripe this happened (my airbrush does not have a variable spray nozzle)

I will be re priming it tomorrow and then re base coating it. After that I will make a few bits white that can be hand painted, like the metal band in front of the exhaust stacks and a few other things. I also plan on making the front window areas that dark iron to also help break it up. Sadly this puts a damper on my plans for my fire raptor. But I instead will tape off part of its wing and make the outermost parts white instead of doing stripes.

Ouch, that must have been quite frustrating. At least it should be quite easily fixed Ustrello.

The group shots look stunning.

If I could find a way to do a nice white to black gradient I would totally use this as a spring board but alas I am not that good

I will sand down any pooled up white parts and then re prime it and airbrush the basecoat again

Thanks man I got the idea for a WIP group shot from your blog actually

Well after the failure that was the rhino and me not having time to fix it til tuesday I decided to work on and finish the contemptor. Right now I am working on getting down the metals to turn them into that dark iron and the beginnings of the whites. The only part I am pausing on is how to paint the kheres assault cannon as I dont want to do the entire thing in silver and black.

The contemptor is going to make one hell of a center piece for your already imposing army. The assault cannon color might be tricky, maybe just weather it/wash it enough that it has a different tonal quality than your silvers. It's hard to picture it as anything other than a sort of "steel".

If you're feeling fancy, you could try a heat-distressed look on the cannon barrels. Silver or brass fading through blue>purple>black or similar.

Besides the leviathan and fire raptor it is for sure one of the center pieces.

Thanks for the advice I put it into practice today and I think it worked out well.

Speaking of which another day and another update. I have almost finished the contemptor with just the gloss and matting of the transfers plus weathering/powder to put down before the beast is done. I am debating a XIX transfer on the empty space on the left part of the torso but idk I feel like it might make it too busy what do you all think?

I think you should, it looks good but I feel it lacks especially compared to your other work that "pop" if you will.

I ended up adding the XIX transfer and it does look a lot better with it!

Well I actually completed the model a day or two ago but I have just gotten around to taking its pictures now. In the mean time I have airbrushed the base coat onto the rhino (after fixing it) dark furies and rapier, I only have about 17 more days to go to finish the army including those above and a fire raptor. I believe I got enough time but it is getting down to the wire.

He came out incredible. Love the yellow eyes and white stripe. The pinning highlights on the legs really make the black pop and the decal is great. Job is well done.

They are, though one of my favorites has to be the nightlords and that dread almost made me start a legion for them

I did actually. I left the secondary lamp on full brightness and the phone on 0 for exposure and then messed around with the auto level with photoscape.

Well I think I am beginning to fix the mistake that was this rhino. I have gotten all of the washes down along with the whites and muted metal on the driver plates (I am considering leaving it as is as the brown showing through some of the darker areas looks cool). All that is left is to highlight do some weathering and get the transfers down.
