Wow. Tons of new rumors to be added.

Of course, it is imperfect. That being said, some arguments for reform are unrealistic. Any that rely on us knowing the hearts and minds of GW or rumor mongers are obviously on that side of the fence.

At this point, the methodology is about as good as we're going to get. It only requires us to know two real questions about any rumor monger:
Did they say something?
Did it come true?

That's much simpler and easier to prove than:
Did they say something?
What were the facts at GW regarding this rumor at the time?
Did those facts change at GW and invalidate the rumor?
Did other, non-GW events that are non-public cause the rumor to change?
Is the anonymous source of the person who is mongering the same?
Are they telling the truth about that or are they just trying to get a new start on the tracker?
Did the monger misinterpret their source's information?
Did the rumor end up true?

edit: I get it. Really, I do. No one likes to see their name with a bunch of FALSEs next to it. No one likes their word questioned when it was no fault of their own. The tracker isn't saying mongers are bad people for getting falses though. It is just telling everyone else what that person's history is. People can make their own decisions about what that means.

For more discussion, we should probably take it to the rumor thread.

Additionally, the thing that we can do here that benefits all is debate tracks, update tracks when I make a mistake and generally make this a community supported resource.

If you go back through the pages here, you'll notice numerous debates, updates and changes based on community feedback. It is very seldom where I just said 'that's how it is' and didn't take feedback.

You don't accept retractions or corrections to rumors though either, just the initial statement, which may make some people balk.

Also despite your intent being that, it's not what ends up happening and you know it. Heck you've tried doing it to me before too.

I absolutely do accept retractions and corrections when they occur in a reasonable amount of time. If someone retracts after it is obvious they are false or everyone calls them on it, that's not a retraction/correction, that's changing with the winds.

Also, I'm not sure what you're saying with the last part. Are you saying that you have been unfairly persecuted for your rumors? Because that's exactly what didn't happen. We said that your rumor history is your rumor history.

The system isn't perfect and can't be perfect. The point was that the complaint that it sometimes doesn't get things right has been raised before.

Is there anything that we can PROVE that we have gotten wrong in the tracker? I would absolutely change it if there was.

Fair enough.
I think your record is good because you are reliable and can sort crap from gold. There's something to be said for that.

Stickmonkey - Total rumors: (159 TRUE) / (332 FALSE) / (51 PARTIALLY TRUE/VAGUE)

Eldar Rumors - Harlequin rumors - Nov 2013
via Stickmonkey on Faeit 212
My info is from a while ago, so obviously it may have changed a lot, but it ties into what you mentioned about a Harlequin codex. I had info that there was a 10-man plastic box of harlequins being designed to be released I assumed with the next DE book. PARTIALLY TRUE
The design parameters included the standard options, but the box was also to have bits for a troupe master and solitaire. FALSE
Separate from this was plastic blister death jester. FALSE
There was also a rumor heard that one designer was working on a harlequin jetbike as a pet project following the new DE jetbike asthetic. FALSE

Does any of this hold water, no idea. It?s been about 9 months, and I?ve heard nothing more on it, so I don?t know. Probably needs lots of salt, but if we consider the possibility of Harlequins getting a standalone ally dex?maybe there is more to this? FALSE

Does this need updating? Seems to me Stickmonkey was right or partially right about all this. Solitaire is out, new death jester is out next week, the jetbike was true...

A new rumor post from WhispererofTruth

A new space marine assault squad has been sculpted, no idea on the release date but I'm guessing it will be alongside the next SM dex.

Next two campaign boxed sets, in no particular order, are:

Dark Angels vs Chaos
Raven Guard vs Tau

One will release this year, the other at the turn of the year.

Deathwatch supplement will pop up around the time of the Tau set.

Nightfury needs to have a couple more FALSE notes added to him. He flat out denied the existence of a new Eldar Codex at first, and then backtracked and said that it would be a supplement to the current codex and not a replacement. Both appear to be totally false, so both should be added to his rating. I can provide specific quotes if needed.

Nightfury states the following:

-Eldar are def next.. I'm still saying its not a redo of the 2yo codex but more of a sideways re-invisioning of the Iyanden book with the other craft worlds expounded upon. Until we really see the book in hand its a lil up in the air but i expect it to work WITH Codex:Eldar rather than replacing it..

So there he's claiming it's a supplement of the current codex rather than a replacement of it. However, what's not quoted in your post are the following quotes (I can provide screenshots for all of them):

BOOM!!! This is the last time i will comment on this..nothing i have seen or heard lends credence to a rehash or redo of any of the already released core codexes.. will will see "codex" supplements possibly a saim hain or iyandel like eldar book.. possibly a space marine clan ruaaken like sub chapter supplement or such.. very likely tied to a campaign . Kiist like the tyranid releases we saw before Christmas we will get splash release models for all core army books

First of all.. the SM codex from last year was written and developed at the same time the 7th editiin was being put together same as all the hardcover codex's that were released last year.. though they do not retain the same format as those released after the 7th drop they are considered by GW to be in essence 7th ed codex and will receive only minor updates or additions via dataslates.. do not expect any complete re-dos until 2017 or there after. i have seen nor heard anything to the contrary.

In fact i was specifically told that the "core" army books are considered "done" and the focus over the next 18 months will be sub faction supplements and a general focus on splash releases for all armies with "an emphasis on campaigns". No new eldar or SM codex coming for quite awhile, sorry.

Total bs.. no new codexs.. supplements sure but cor 'dex's are "done" for the forseeable future. i seriously laughed my beer out when i read this.. if it somehow in a tzeenchian way webtastically weaved way turned true ill eat my words but i wouldn't put any bets on it. my girls knows what's up and shed tell me if i had wasted my $ 6months ago on the SM dex i bought.

There is no new SM codex to be released this or next year

Lmao there's no SM codex being released this or next summer even

I call shennanigans.. no new eldar dex for a long time to be sure

Direct quotes all.

Of course. I just thought I'd share how vociferous he was about the idea of there not being any new codex updates, period, for at least two years. He shot down the idea of both a Codex: Eldar update (He was even more strident than the quote in the OP, as at first he said no new Eldar book, period, but then walked it back to his new claim that it's a supplement and not a new codex) and Codex: Space Marines update, and now it looks like we're less than a month away from at least a Codex: Eldar update.

According to him in one of the above quotes, not a single codex will be updated between now and 2017. So that's a False for every time an updated codex does appear between now and then. Lords of War Gaming have rumored an Eldar, Space Marines, and Tau Empire redo within this year, so that's three potential False's right there. We'll know for sure on the first one by the end of this week or next week, it appears, as that's when Codex Eldar: Craftworlds goes on sale.

He also should have a Partially True on Deathstorm. He said there'd be a Tactical Squad in it, but there wasn't.
