Wouldn't the grass change colour to reflect the biome?

Yep, thats why we need the a medium-wood forest or a plains biome to get the right grass colour.

1.9 Pre 6 is out. I've updated the original post with links to it etc. Please use that for finding any new world coords.

Don't know yet, will try to test it this weekend. Hope not. Most of the bugs I have heard fixed are not biome or world generation bugs so I don't think anything's been changed, but the latest version is always the best version to use when getting coords for Minecraft 1.0

Apparently they're releasing another Pre tomorrow to fix some minor bugs with doors not working without redstone and obsidian mining very fast.

There's a (slightly hilly) plains biome at x -1000, z 1000

Nice easy to remember coords and once the Manor is plonked down, the hills would be gone. If it's not big enough, the nearby regular forest could also help take some of the space.

Also another at x -50 z -1000

If you could plonk it down near there, preferably on the opposite side to the desert I would be very grateful.

I've dug around my house a little to make your life easier Dark: it's not too clear where house ends and ground begins. I understand that this will make it easier just to copy a prism extending form the ground, rather than go into specifics.

As Minecraft is released this Friday, I will probably take this evening's 6:35pm GMT backup as THE version to copy all structures (and player inventories) from.

You can still request structures to be copied at any time up until the release on Friday, but they will be copied "as they were at 6:35pm this evening".

Y'know, there are two more things I spent a LOT of time on that I guess I'd be sad to see go (one *way* more than the other).

The first would be the 'valley of death' (aka the canyon with a lava river in it).

Unfortunately, I don't know how you'd transfer the whole thing as it kind of requires mountains and such to create the whole canyon effect.

But I guess if you're taking the awesome castle next to it (assuming you are) you could probably just try to pull the whole mountain/canyon in along with it?

Anyway, the canyon is here:

x: 200
y: 63
z: -255

The second one is much less painful if it can't be done then the canyon (although I did probably spend about as much time on it).

Basically, below my 'sky lair' is a stairway that leads down to bedrock. Down there, my idea was to create an uber-cavern that was basically a giant lake underground at bedrock as well as making a ton of controlled pools of lava as far as the eye could see. I was also going to make giant 'Mines of Moria' style pillars to look like they were holding up this big cavern.

I did do a lot of work clearing out that area at bedrock, so if there's some way to save that cavern, I guess I'd like to do so. Of course, lots of other people were digging smaller tunnels all around it, which was kind of cool because if I wanted to expand it, I wasn't going to have nearly as much work clearing it out.

So, I don't know exactly where you can choose to pull it from, but I guess as long as you get the big cavern at bedrock (including the lava pools) then I'd be happy.

It can be found right here:

x: -35
y: 6
z: -150

I don't really care where the canyon ends up in the new map, but I'd like the mine to still be roughly near/below wherever you put my sky lair.

Thanks again! And anything that's too big of a pain, just don't worry about it.

Yeah, I think there is sufficient modification to that valley (the lava, bridges and houses etc) to warrant copying it over. (I just didn't want to be copying unmodified naturally generated mountains "because they look cool", when the generator will make plenty more mountains anyway).

Same goes for your underground cavern.

You know, Yak, Id be rather willing to help with that cavern. I have some small experience with making giant caverns.

Nobody else has been posting requested coordinates, but I just got MC1.0 RC2 and scouted around for a nice, flat piece of land.

May I request the following new location for my Citadel posted above:
x: 50
z: -1000

Somewhat of an image of the general area:
Spoiler:

It's similar to my current location; it's far enough from the spawn, it's near the coast, and it has an open-air ravine nearby suitable for mining.
Plus, it looks nice.

Thanks, Dark! Oddly, people seem to avoid that portion of the map, despite it being so close. Maybe I'll make a nice overland path there as well, on the new map. I think I've figured out my new project once I'm 'finished' with the Mesa (I'm never finished.)

Minecraft 1.0 is officially released and public tomorrow, I'm curious when the new non-apocalyptic map will be up and running.

Also, when will all the stuff be transferred over?

No rush, just curious (and excited).

Unfortunately when I was working on the new world last night I encountered a problem (or bug) that the spawn area kept moving to the bottom of an ocean 1600 blocks away. I would fix it and then it would move back.

I think the new world I created has gotten corrupted somehow and I have to delete it and start again (luckily I hadn't started putting peoples structures into the world when I spotted the spawn area problem).

This will cause a delay and I definitely won't have the world ready by Friday evening. Further to that, I will be away all day Saturday. So it will probably be late Sunday at the very earliest, assuming everything goes smoothly.

I will still accept requests for stuff to be copied right up until I decide the new world is ready to go. I'll make a post here when I'm ready to declare this thread closed.

Also can wolf have his pyramid moved? the corners of the cube to be copied are x=1279 y=70 z=-853 to x=1220 y=100 z=-913 and on dakka there is a huge desert around x=-660 z=880 so can wolfs pyramid be moved to around there? preferably near the sea.
