Sorry all for running behind on these with the recent changes in the FAQ and reworking the mirror list it took us a little longer to play test and work on missions.

Here are some example missions that will be run at Wargames con.

Mission Alpha

Deployment: Pitched Battle

Primary Objective
• Seize Ground - 5 objectives. Players will roll off to place objectives before rolling to see who decided to go first/ deployment. Objectives follow standard Seize ground rules and must be 12 inches or more away from the Table edge and another objective.

Secondary Objective
• Marked for Death -Eliminate a Troop Choices not including a dedicated transport. Opponent gets to pick decided before game starts.

Tertiary Objective
• All in Area Control: Table quarters to the right of the opponent are areas of control and must be maintained. Which ever play has the most victory points in that table quarter of any unit controls the table quarter. If the victory point difference total is 150 points or less its considered a draw.

Mission Beta

Deployment: Dawn of War

Primary Objective
• Kill Points – whoever has the most Kill points at the end of the game wins. If both players have the same amount of Kill points the players tie.

Secondary Objective
• Central Command – Control the middle, any unit within 12” of the center will count as controlling the middle. Whoever has more units in the middle will control the middle. Count units controlling the middle the same way as you would kill points. Ex. A 10 man tactical squad with a Chaplin would count as two units controlling the center

Tertiary Objective
• Over the line: If you have a unit within 6” of the opponent’s long table edge. Any unit counts as long as you have a unit within 6” inches. This is winnable by both.

Mission Gamma

Deployment: Pitched Battle

Primary Objective
• Capture & Control – Whoever scores the most objectives wins this mission. Place objectives the same way from the book. You deploy your objective when you deploy your army.
Secondary Objective
• Victory points – If the player scores 150 or more victory points they will win this objective. If the difference between both players is 150-0, players will tie.
Tertiary Objective
• Behind the lines: Have units in the enemy deployment zone. Both players can achieve this mission.

Mission Delta

Deployment: Spearhead

Primary Objective
• Seize ground 3 Objectives – There is one objective placed in the middle of the board. The other two objectives follow the same rules as Seized ground objectives and are placed by the player. They have to be 12 inches away from the table edge and 12 inches away from another objective including the middle objective.

Secondary Objective
• Kill points – Kill points out of the Main rule book. Whoever has more kill points at the end of the game achieves this objective.

Tertiary Objective
• Table Quarters: Players have to control table quarters, players control table quarters by having the most amount of victory points in that table quarter. There is no difference in Victory points. If a player has one more victory point over the player they control that table quarter.

Thanks for the response Darkwynn.

When you say example, you mean we can expect missions with these style of objectives, or that these are the actual missions used in some yet-unannounced order?

Actual mission in unannounced order

That being said we are taking feedback to make the missions better. So they could change but something tells me it will only be slightly.

Generally speaking I don't like missions that use VPs in 5th ed. 5th ed (and beyond) codices aren't balanced VP wise so using VPs as a mission objective, even secondary or tertiary, can cause problems. I also find that I need to carefully count my opponents VPs in order to insure a true result and in some cases vice versa. I would say substitute KPs for VPs wherever possible and if it isn't possible perhaps rethink the objective. Just my .02, will these also be the missions for the Mirror Match?

I'd prefer that similar objectives be the same throughout the missions rather the slight variance - in a tight game it could easily lead to some confusion. Also the wording for the tertiary in the Alpha mission is confusing.

Well the 19th Legion should be there defending both the Mirror Match and 40k Grand Tournament title.

I'm not a big fan of fixed five objectives, but I see that you've got fixed three later, so that balances out. Nice. I also appreciate that they're player-placed. Good show!

Marked for death needs to be more specific about when the units are designated. I strongly advise that it be after deployment. Player going first has to name his target first.

I don't think I quite understand the tertiary. Each of you is trying to gain control of the quadrant to his opponent's right? Is that correct? And you need more than 150pts in excess of your opponent's total in the quadrant to hold it? So if I have a 105pt unit in the quadrant to my right, you need to have 256vp worth of units in there to take it?

C&C: In the book you place objectives before either player deploys, and the guy with choice of DZ has to place his first. I strongly advise you keep it that way, rather than having them placed when you deploy your army.
VPs: I think you mean "Compare victory points scored; if one player has 151 or more in excess of his opponent's total, he wins. If the difference is 150 or less, it is a draw". Is that right?
BtL: Unit singular or units plural? Do they have to be completely in, or can it just be the majority of the unit? If the latter, and the unit is evenly divided, do you randomize?

Any word on the Mirror Match missions? Are they the same as the 40k championship missions?

Final Missions for the GT are coming up; we fixed them at the workday today and they are getting formatted this weekend.

Mirror Match uses straight book missions and deployments.

I'll give you a hint, at least. There are certain armies that are very popular that might find the team tournament missions more challenging than a normal game.

When will list submission be due?

And when are badges and such to be sent out?

List were due the 30th, but it is no big deal, all you have to due is bring 9 copies (in army builder) to the tournament. They should check your list for any validity checks when you register (If you already sent your list in, they will have 9 copies waiting for you during registration). I believe last year they had the badges laid out in the gaming hall for people to pick up after they have registered.

Badges are picked up at registration; I am not aware of any tournament or convention that mails stuff out, but addresses help us sort people for pairings.

I just feel bad, cause been in the scenario of going through someones list right before a tourny. Although, I only signed up for the Team event, and had heard that the 30th was the date but, couldn't find any proof or and email about it being due.

I still wake in a cold sweat because of my mirror match defeat in the last round at the hands of the 19th legion! You all cunningly dodged me in the main event, but this year I shall have my revenge! Looking forward to seeing you guys there.

Were we supposed to receive any sort of confirmation that our lists for the 40k GT had been received and that our copies will be ready and waiting?
