Very artfully done model! What makes it for me is like you said, it looks more like a painting than a model! ( Which I honestly have a difficult time trying to paint a model like a painting ) What I especially love is the skin! Reminds me actually of an alcoholic I know. Next time you paint skin like that I would love to see a step by step of some sort, just to see the technique you use. Or if thats too much work a text form explanation will do

LDD: Cheers mate, I was just playing around with bits and came upon the sword stroking pose by chance, I think it is wonderfully creepy.

Warboss_Wazaag:Ah, you put it so well

Rogue wolves: Thank you, i'll see if i can work a tutorial up next time i get some painting done.

PDH: He could take Nagash easy (and with the new models he actually could(if only I thought any of them were actually cool))
Progress on rebuilding the head is slow, as I have to stop and flagellate myself with a copy of the Blanchitsu in which your models featured, every hour, with out fail. And of course I also have to kneel and pray before the shrink wrap servitor shrine I erected at the back of my house.

The warrior priest is now finished so here are some photos. As you can see I went for a slightly less painterly style on this chap, to reflect the fact that he is somewhat less mad than Grelbius, I imagined him as a more grim, stern character.

I imagine the only reason he alows the monk to accompany him is because he believes his mad babblings are a sign of sigmars blessing. The warrior priest even allowed Grelbius to paint the name of their lord on his scabbard, thusly "blessing" it.

One of my personal favourite details is the fact that he only wears one shoe.

Fantastic new stuff.

I love the Arbite. So nice seeing that wonderful Jes Goodwin concept in model form. You should do a second wearing only the chin armor and rebreather with the helmet removed.

The monk and warrior priest are great. I love the loose and rich painting style. The collar of candles is a wonderful detail.

Seriously you have captured a real essence with this unit reflecting that dark chaotic landscape perfectly, this is definitely the strength and focus of this group he seems to have a sense of leadership and slight arrogance about him just amazing work.

Seeing your WIP pic really brings home the amount of work you invested into this character, from the candles to the foot bandage providing visual character.

neil101:Cheers mate.

Freytag93:Thanks alot, I do find that painting is one of the best parts of the hobby, its the time when I consider who the character is. I'll be interested to see what you paint up.

PDH: Cheers, I just hope I can keep it up

Ive sent the Vampire hunter to Bruticus, to take up the fight against his vampires. His background can now be found here:http://www.exprofundis.com/mordheim-vampire-hunter/
Ive taken a break for a short while to concentrate on getting some models finished. Ive got an eversor assasin and some other stuff in the pipeline. Ive also got two new Arbites servitors.

Firstly, Servitor III of the Adeptus Arbites of Thrax, Castigator model. This servitor, originally some long forgotten law breaker, is used for the branding of Heretics and other malcontents. Contained within the servitor units chest is a small furnace, from which a branding iron can be heated. The servitor usually accompanies Judges or singular arbites carrying out patrols in more dangerous areas.

And servitor unit IV, used by the Arbites for hacking and unlocking areas which are in the way of the arbites duty. One hand contains a set of pins/tumblers, whlie the other has tiny mechandendrites through which the servitor can connect directly to the machine spirit in order to commune with it and recieve its blessed information.

On the servitors back, a data pad and printer presents information in usable format to the Arbites.

And for any one interested, there are some more photos up on my blog here:http://theunderhivea.blogspot.co.nz/" target="_new" rel="nofollow"> http://theunderhivea.blogspot.co.nz/

I dont know what is more scary your creations or your talent

I really do enjoy your updates the offering of great conversions and some nice fluff always keeps me interested, I love the more simple looking servitors and their specific roles and duties just brilliant concepts

Along with your style of painting just pulls your models together so well, I also love the spirit computer on the back with printer nice touch.

I hope your Vampire hunter returns victorious and not a broken man .........literally

lone dirty dog: You flatter me Hopefully the vampire hunters innate faith will hold his glue bonds together through tough times

SJM: Cheers,
Although so far i have stringently avoided chaos, Ive been playing around with my bits.. (that doesnt sound quite right)and these conversions just came together. wether i will ever finish them is another matter entirely.
I always sit down to methodically finish all the half finished projects i have on the go and then suddenly find some idea or combination of bits which sets me off, crazily looking through my boxes, cutting up models and generally making a massive mess.

Any way, here we have them, two thousand sons and a dark mechanicus tech priest. Im sure you can tell from the blutack bulges that they are very much wip's

The rather strange dark Mechanicus heretek, his face, beneath a metal hood, is made of flayed skin(dont worry, its not his own)

And just to prove that I havent forgotten the arbites, heres some detailing ive begun for the barracks I'm working on.

One last thing, a question: I have recently come to question my bits storage system(just dump them all in a box) does anyone else have a simple way of storing all those little heads arms and assorted gubbins, if so Id love to hear.

Very cool! I particularly like the techmarine torso on the first thousand son. The Dark Mechanicus guy looks interesting too, like a homemade version of the FW Myrmidons.

At least your bits are in a box! My natural tendency is to store my bits in a pile that covers my cutting matt work zone. Every once in a while I force myself to sort through the bits and try to pull out the best ones and organize them in a storage bin thing, but it never lasts long.

"The rather strange dark Mechanicus heretek" has a great posture that hung over hunchbacked stance really works well and his distorted facial expression completes the character perfectly

The Barracks emblem is spot on I get the impression there is going to be some size to this when complete

As for storage I use these get them from Ebay cheap as chips and quick delivery, just search for plastic storage containers :

I use what LDD uses for conversion Ideas (all the bits for a model in one section) otherwise I use little resealable bags, like bits sellers use.

You can buy 100+, depending on size, for about £1 ish from evilBay.

@LDD: you have an outrageously large collection of small heads. Well done sir.

lindsay40k: Cheers, I always try to get something Blanchian into my models.

deadmeat85:hmm, I should probably look into something similar.

OneManNoodles:I find that i dont really want to categorize my bits to much as some of the fun is looking through and then having random conversions spring out at me. I might get some of thesame containers as LDD

LDD: Glad you like him, although now Iv'e begun it may be some time before he resurfaces, lost in a tide of bits The barracks is going to be pretty large, its going to be made out of that old styrofoam packing case I was using earlier. I just have to decide wether to cut off the top and make a detailed inside or not.\

Weirdingway:Cheers about the darkmechanicus guy, a few people have pointed out his family resemblance, so i may have to have another look at the myrmidons style.
That sounds exactly like my system. Even when i do turn myself to moving them it just tends to be a "sweep everything off the desk into a box" rather than any type of sorting.

Anyway, back into the Grim darkness and all that...

The whipping servitor, tasked with the shriving of unclean things from the bodies (or corpse's) of the Emperor's congregation.
Where the Ecclesiary protect the souls of His servants, the Arbites must protect their living abode's from unclean thought and action, for even to contemplate heresy against the Emperor is to be eternally damned, let alone to carry it out.

Through incessant whipping the lack of spiritual fortitude which allowed a demon to lead some small time criminal to sin is eradicated. Although of course, for crimes of greater magnitude death is the only option.

The individual upon which this great burden has been placed was once a adolescent boy, who, some say, attempted to steal from a local noble. The ancient process which turned him into a servitor has stunted his growth leading him to remain small with smoothened skin, a strange sight indeed for those who see him.

The scales of the Adeptus arbites are inscribed upon his brow, a reminder to those whom he punishes of who their dictators are.

And a rather small group shot, sorry about that. You can zoom in on them:Here

And last but hopefully not least some shots of my latest terrain piece (I finished it a while ago but only got around to putting the photos on the dakka gallery today) It was originally a gutter cover.

Apologist: Ah, I accept your praises, although in future you must burn incense and candles when viewing this thread…. All joking aside, thanks for the complements, especially from a talented fellow such as yourself, I really do love your truescale Marines

LDD: Believe me, I do have times when I run out of ideas, but for me its all about following a process. Finishing one model tends to fling me onto the next. Its just getting stuck in the middle of a project thats a problem. Thanks alot for your continuing comments

Meph: Cheers

Hanskrampf: glad to hear it

And with all of that out of the way, Ive finally got around to finishing the servitor for sale. It doesn't look as like he's been iced quite as much out of the photos.
