I won't go into why, but I'm without a quick reply at the moment Chickenwhiskers I say. Chickenwhiskers!
That being said, the mod'ing on this site is still worlds above much of what I've seen.

I was banned from www.40kforums.com for excessive trolling.
People would ask for answers to rules questions (obvious ones in the book, like what do frags do), and I would make up answers, and insist everyone else is wrong (they are a str4 shooting attack!).
I didn't take being banned well.... I used proxy IP's, and made like 20 different accounts, and just started spouting horrible anti-mod things (personal attacks, things that were way out of line).
I eventually got bored, so I made an account with a name like "Horst2", and posted a topic saying that they could never stop me from posting, and while I found their attempts to censor me funny, this site is boring as hell.
I then came to dakka, and have never looked back.

I was also banned from the battle.net forums (starcraft 2) ~10 times, all for trolling terran players.
I've had 3 accounts permanently banned from battle.net for cursing out opponents.
My favorite thing I've said to someone:
"I am going to pray every day you get dick cancer. If there is any justice in this world, it will happen. Then I will pray you get better after borrowing tons of money from your family, to pay for treatments. Then I pray each and every one of THEM gets cancer, and because of you, can't afford treatments. They all die. Then, in horrible poverty, you spend your last years on earth as a friendless, family-less bum, before you die from repeated anal rape from a thousand angry hobos."

Don't get warnings or bans. Cause I'm awesome. If I ever did, there's more internet out there. I like Dakka, but not being able to post here wouldn't be a huge thing, especially since I can interact with most of my favorite people from here elsewhere. Plus, it's just an internet forum, not like it's a large part of my life.

I just delete the email and move on.
My distrust of forum moderators goes back many years, and I don;t much care about them enough to respond in any fashion. Sometimes, I will if I like the guy I'll apologize, but more often than not, I haven't done anything wrong, and just crossed a forum poster who is good old boys with the mod in question. I just leave it alone.

Trolling is a art.
Don't worry, trolls tend not to get banned here.
I tend to explain to the MODs why my post isn't a violation of the rules and/or try to clarify the rules so that I don't violate them in the future.
Some MODs don't like explaining their actions.

I have received my share of warnings and a couple of suspensions due to locking horns with a couple of people on this board.
Both of those people are now permabanned. I assure myself that it's a sign I need to tone down the vigilante crimefighting on the board...

One thing I will say, based on my rich experience of receiving warnings, is that some MODs word them in such a way as they can only be read as an attempt to provoke you.

I reckon I'd have a good shot at claiming the award for most warnings and bans in the shortest amount of time..
Ah well.. as the Administrator of my own forum, I look back on those days with shame.
Literally, you lot of regular users have no idea how darn annoying it becomes after awhile.. and hell, my mods and I only have to deal with about 25-30 other regular users.. the Dakka mods have to deal with thousands.
Respect them, they work like they're getting paid to keep Dakka a safe, positive community.

I understand this. Very provoking to receive the same, standard copy+paste auto-send explanation of your warning that doesn't actually tell you anything 3 times in one day.
Fair enough, it's more work for them to write it out, but hell if they can't be bothered to do that then that's a dereliction of their duty here. Kudos to those Mods here that have consistently displayed that commitment.
Heh, reading that I'm almost expecting another warning.

You mean this:
Hello,
Your post at http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/preList/410711/3586270.page#3586270 has been identified by a moderator as violating Dakka Dakkas Rule #1 Be Polite. We ask that you to take a moment and re-read Dakka's forum rules for what is considered appropriate posting behavior. A reminder of Dakka Rule #1 is as follows:
Rule 1: Be Polite
This seems obvious, however many folks can sometimes forget that common courtesy goes a long way to lending respect to both you and your opinions. Just because you don't see the other users' faces doesn't mean they don't have feelings and won't be hurt by rude comments or offensive images. When you see something that you find silly, rude or insulting first assume that perhaps there is more to it than you initially thought. Look at it again, keeping in mind that tone and inflection is difficult to convey in a visual format. It may be that the person is attempting a joke or is exaggerating on purpose. It is best to politely request clarification before accusing someone being ignorant, a liar, or worse.
If after clarification you still disagree with the person then politely outline your points. Try to avoid name-calling or even implying insults wherever possible. These tactics generally only inflame a situation and lead to what are known as "Flame Wars." Whenever a flame war starts it usually ruins a perfectly good discussion. Others will lose interest in the thread and the site in general if this kind of interchange becomes a common occurrence.
We understand that this takes a little bit of extra effort on your part, but please be aware that posting content on this site (or any internet site, for that matter) is a privilege, not a right. One of the requirements of posting on this site is to avoid personal attacks, slants, and innuendoes against other posters. Argue the issues of the thread and avoid attacking other posters.
Please consider this message a polite warning. No action is being taken at this time, but if you continue to create posts that contain personal attacks or slights, your account will be suspended for a few days as a harsher warning to please cease this type of behavior. Obviously if these warnings fail to curtail the behavior, harsher penalties may have to be levied in the future.
If you have any questions about this warning, please feel free to PM me (or any other moderator).
Thanks,
The Dakka moderation team
It doesn't seem too awful!

It seems like a lot of effort on a large site for the mods to hand-type each warning though.
