Since the last time I put a similar list up I had a think and made a few subtle alterations. I also had the chance to playtest it twice. Once vs SW Longfang and Razorspam at 2k, and once vs an ultra fluffy BloodRaven DS heavy 2k list. A draw on the first count, a win on the 2nd. So, onto the lists:

At 1850:

Overlord
Warscythe
CC Barge

RC1
1 Cryptek
HoD
Solar Pulse

Overlord
Warcythe
CC Barge

RC 2
1 Cryptek
HoD
Solar Pulse

5x Immortals
Night Scythe

5x Immortals
Night Scythe

5x Immortals
Night Scythe

5x Immortals
Night Scythe

5x Immortals
Night Scythe

7x Scarabs

Doom Scythe
Doom Scythe

In the 2k version I add another 3 Crypteks (so 1 for each squad of Immortals) and 3 scarab bases.

From experience I have found the threat of multiple Doom Scythes and CC barges a great combo. They both perform and it's very hard to stop all 4 before they have the chance to do something significant. Having multiple Night Scythes also helps with the application of overwhelming force. Thoughts on any improvements that can be made? The only thing I was thinking was dropping the Immortals down to Warriors, but I like the fact that these guys actually have an impact on the game, have greater range and are more survivable.

I think you should put less good things in the list

Not sure the scarabs fit here Luke, I think they will get in the way. The points could be MSS and more HoD's.

Well at first I was thinking 5 HoD's instead of the Scarabs, but the Scarabs have great utility against certain builds as well as providing a tarpit or distraction unit in games where they aren't as useful (your DE being 1 example). Elliot persuaded me to keep the Scarabs and I'm inclined to agree.

I will probably give both versions a try but am looking at using Scrarabs first since they are painted. Working on my 2 CC Barges and 3 Annihilation Barges this week. Should get them and 10 Immortals done over this holiday.

Something I will look into (had another think about making it more MSU) is replacing the Immortals with Warriors and dropping the Scarabs altogether. I could then fit in a 3rd Doom Scythe and have 30pts spare at 1850. Any thoughts on that?

If you want Night Scythes, stick with Immortals. If you're switching to Warriors, I would swap those out for Ghost Arks, or else drop the transports altogether. I haven't run Scythes/Warriors as a combo yet, but it doesn't seem too synergistic. I'm also not sure if a third Doom Scythe is the way to go if you switch - like Triarch Stalkers, I feel they work best in pairs. I actually might recommend a Monolith in this scenario - it gives your opponent something else to worry about, that's stupidly durable and adds some versatility to your list.

I haven't run Scythes and Warriors yet either but my experience so far is that both Scythes are great, and I think facilitating points to get more stuff in is worth playtesting. Have found 2 Doom Scythes works, maybe a third is better?

Ok, have had another test game in with this and I think although I'm on a winning streak, part of that is due to what I'm facing (9 out of 10 games have been DE). Tesla Destructors in this case are possibly the best weapon to take since it's extremely hard to get that first pain token (everything is meched up) and when he does finally get it most of my weapons are high enough S to ignore FnP. Now what I'm thinking is that perhaps against a tougher army (physically higher T, not a better player...Cmac is a one of the best generals I have ever faced) my list may struggle. FnP BA, Paladins and Terminator heavy lists may give me issues since the huge numbers of shots is mitigated a lot by superior saves. In these cases when building a more balanced all-comers I'm thinking I need a couple of dedicated anti-infantry units that are capable of delivering a solid punch. Also I'm not a fan of having Troops units that really don't contribute to the game in any meaningful way. I think Immortals are a far superior choice in that respect when compared to Warriors. So with that in mind see below:

1850

Overlord
Warscythe
CC Barge

RC1
HoDestruction Cryptek w/ Solar Pulse
HoDespair w/ Abyssal Staff

Overlord
Warscythe
CC Barge

RC2
HoD Cryptek w/ Solar Pulse
HoDespair w/ Abyssal Staff

5x Deathmarks
Night Scythe

5x Deathmarks
Night Scythe

5x Immortals
Night Scythe

5x Immortals
Night Scythe

5x Immortals
Night Scythe

Doom Scythe
Doom Scythe

Now I have 25pts left. In this set up I keep a high number of Scythes and have more high priority threats on the table.Despair Crypteks join the Deathmarks and do their thing on a high priotity infantry unit, I lose scoring units, but with the resilience of Immortals combined with the fact they go into reserve if their ride is destroyed I think it's a safe assumption they should survive.

At 2k the list then changes to this:

Overlord
Warscythe
CC Barge

RC1
HoDestruction Cryptek w/ Solar Pulse
HoDespair w/ Abyssal Staff

Overlord
Warscythe
CC Barge

RC2
HoD Cryptek w/ Solar Pulse
HoDespair w/ Abyssal Staff

5x Deathmarks
Night Scythe

5x Deathmarks
Night Scythe

5x Immortals
Night Scythe

5x Immortals
Night Scythe

5x Immortals
Night Scythe

Doom Scythe
Doom Scythe
Doom Scythe

Now the issue I'm having (in both of these incarnations) is that since I have less scoring units do I even need them to take part in the battle. When it's 5/6 units it feels like a waste, but when it's only 3 perhaps there are better things I could spend the points on. Freeing up 60pts in both cases gives me access to another Cryptek for my Deathmarks each, dramatically increasing their efficiency, or even some upgrades for my Overlords to make them more efficient in cc once their Barge gets popped.

I tried a list very similar to this and it worked very well. I took orikan and kept everything in reserve then turn 2 with rerolls almost the entire force showed up and the 3 doom scythes deep struck in and wreaked havoc. The lords on ccb's I'm sure will work just fine too though.

The list is brutal against WWP and mech DE spam lol. Tesla Destructor is the tool for the job.

Soooo..... many........ It's tough to get them under control without extreme tailoring. Basically its an all mech force with no troops of any major interaction.

Shooting phase gets a bit meh.

I do love me some scythe spam lists

My current 2k list looks a little different, as I put more of my support into ground units:

Necron Tesla Immortals x5
- Night Scythe
Necron Tesla Immortals x5
- Night Scythe
Necron Tesla Immortals x5

Ouch. I love Scythe spam.

I don't think the scarabs are wasted though, they have a great threat range that complements your scythes and your opponent will only have so much High Strength shooting to divide between all those threats.

The scarabs will either draw fire from your scythes, or they'll reach the enemy line, either way it's a win.

The biggest problem I see you facing is actually converting that many models.

Soon to add

Well I'm out for a game soon, so will hopefully get a taste vs a different opponent. WIll be giving the Warriors, Deathmarks and dual Crypteks a run. Hopefully they won't let me down.
