This year. Mark promised! (Wave 3, not the heads)

Going to be a busy year....

Game development is a rather large undertaking when you consider all the steps, finding and hiring and keeping on top of 2d artist for illustration, alpha test, beta test, off to the technical writer for review and corrections, layout and finally print to PDF and book format.

In tandem The Op-force needs to be completed so that we can illustrate the book. That would be (possibly) Light troops, Medium troops, Heavy troops, 3 walkers a transport and a special unit.

Add to this an Eisenkern Tank and light walker. Then add terrain, special tokens, etc.

There needs to be releases in between the game/op-force release to help keep interest and drive sales.

Yep, a busy year.... or two? Who knows, I will work as fast as I can and we will see where this shakes out.

Any resemblance of this post to written English is purely coincidental.

Especially as those Eisenkern will need an adversary or two...

Alph, that's what the "Op-force" is in Mark's post.

However, "Eisenkern Tank and light walker"? I gotta get at least one of each of those, than I should have a reasonably well rounded force. I'll have to pick up some more troops I think. Don't know if a single box of 20 will be enough.

"Ask ten different scientists about the environment, population control, genetics, and you'll get ten different answers, but there's one thing every scientist on the planet agrees on. Whether it happens in a hundred years or a thousand years or a million years, eventually our Sun will grow cold and go out. When that happens, it won't just take us. It'll take Marilyn Monroe, and Lao-Tzu, and Einstein, and Morobuto, and Buddy Holly, and Aristophanes…then all of this…all of this…was for nothing. Unless we go to the stars." A sprinkling of Russian troops here, some Americans there and I think you'll hold our interest just fine.

I know I'd prefer them to be first too.

And then the Americans, of course!

Yeah, the Shadokesh would be nice, and a lot of people seem to favour Russians/Commies. If memory serves me, they eschew walkers in favour of AFVs?

I was working on the assumption that Shadowkesh would be the Op-for and the Russians and Americans could be the fillers.

Making Shadokesh the next faction would certainly help cement the image of Iron Core universe as a game, rather than just a setting to create alternative Imperial Guard and Space Marine models (not that such a thing is necessarily bad, as it still helps drive sales).

Personally, I really want an Eisenkern tank.

I can confirm that the Shadokesh are the next faction.

Walker heavy; this is after all where the Eisenkern got their first walker to reverse engineer and begin production on the Leviathans.

I just dropped by to read the posts and leave some thoughts.

I guess I need to buckle down and get some stuff painted up. I have some Kriegsmarine and a couple leviathans that need paint.

Is there anything like rough sketch of a Shadokesh walker out, yet? To compare with some rather less technically impressive miniature lines, would it be more like the Eldar titans rather than the Eisenkern walkers? (By Jove I'm looking for something like that with a similar level of technical sophistication to the Leviathan sculpts... and in plastic!).

Is there any chance I can join in on play testing this game? I really like your model range, and would love to contribute by playtesting

Happy: Beta testing will be open for pretty much all that got in on the kickstarter I believe.
Alpha testing.. I think Precinct Omega and Mark want to keep it smallish, so one of the entry barriers is having some painted Iron Core models.

I'll be getting on that post-haste. So far I only have one of the LE Anti-mech snipers painted up.

Really? Painted models is the bar? That seems a bit haphazard, no?

they want people who are prepared to show their commitment,

and buying (and painting) certainly does that.

It also keeps the pool of testers manageably small without them having to make decisions themselves, they can always relax things or make individual exceptions later if they need more people

Not only that, but moderately well-painted models are a great draw for interest when playing in public.

We're talking alpha rules, right? Not something you'd use in public a lot. I think proxies would give us more chances to play test more rules.

It's moot in my case, I have a painted force. But not my pool of opponents.

I think just having some (any) painted models will be enough to show your commitment.

One Leviathan, single fireteam, etc. More the merrier, but just having something done will help in that regards.

Get on over to PrecinctOmega and shoot him a PM or email about it. I think it's going to be a bit before they get anything nailed down anyways.

They're supposed to come with them, I just checked the KS page. WGF just forgot to include them, right? I lost track...

Let me look into that...

Edit: I spoke with WGF and they are going out this week. Those that chose to have the armor and Capacitor Coolers sent out should be receiving a shipping notice by the end of the week. They are listing the parts with a .25 cent value so those of you with VAT will not get stung.

Not quite yet, still tweaking to be done before it is ready to go.
