Rather have Mark's Hanomags than the GW Taurox for my army

Taurox is Ork material in my mind

What's sad is the GW stormtroopers look like good models. I would love to have both their models and Mark's mixed in an army. The problem is GW's "premium price" has put them way out of my price range. $70 for a squad of 10 is insane. I can get 40 eisenkarn at that price, and for a little more have just as many bits as the GW models would have.

The G.I. Joe thing vs the Eisenkarn transport isn't even a competition. Its like bringing a guy in a wheelchair to box against Mike Tyson.

And you know with a model that hideous its rules will be amazing

If they do end up RRP $70 for 10, and therefore something like $55 US Discounted... in 40k terms, they can go feth themselves ; p We got 60 eisenkern with 3 accessory kits for what, $90 from the KS? That's substantially better than disocunted retail, but... even discounted retail is ridiculously better than GW as you say.

And yeah the cowboy hat is rofl.

Yeah, the only thing the tuarox is good for depending on price, is Orkification

Mark's Hanomags beat GW Taurox hands down

A good video from Spikey Bits compares the 15mm leviathan to the imperial knight, and sadly it does seem substantially shorter. Would have been nice to have the 28mm shown too but it seems to be:
- 15mm crusader
- +2.5" Knight titan
- +2.5" 28mm crusader

The ability to pose the leviathan is ridiculous compared to the static knight too as we know.

I'd rather put my 28mm leviathan on the board and give the GW player a larger target to shoot at and also give him an inferiority complex . I might be compensating for something, but the extra money in my pocket and better looking models make me feel better.

Aye here, here! I am liking that my 28mm leviathan Crusader is almost a warhound in size, and well, I have some kits I built of cool looking mechs as big as a knight, i just need some close combat weapons attached to their left arms

I'm still not sure why everybody is complaining about the Taurox. I think it's cool that GW has now made two different Battlewagon models for the Orks.
Still waiting to see the new APC that IG are supposed to get, but I doubt it will be anywhere near as good as Mark's work. I can just imagine Mark sending GW a card in thanks for driving even more customers his way.

If the GW kit is reasonably priced, I'll get one or two. I do like the look of them. I won't be buying any more than that, though - and on an unrelated note (yes, really) I am planning to buy another box of Mark's infantry and heavy weapons shortly.

And yes, I'lll take the Hanomags any day over that thing. I like their infantry. Not sold at all on the vehicle.

Oh very nice, he did a great job. It came up high in my google search so I just had to include it ; )

Is it urgent, or can it wait until - hopefully - we get that discount coupon?

The GW infantry look decent, not far off the Eisenkern and of an aesthetic I might like a bit more, actually... but I think Mark will make a killing with his APC!!! It looks much cooler than the new GW one, imo

In a van down by the river

Funny conversation randomly overheard at a local store (where they obviously got the Knight stock from GW that arrived without art):

"The Knights came in an unmarked white box! I mean, what kind of marketing is that? $140 and you don't put the art on the box?"
"Yeah, it's a cool model but after seeing that I went over and bought one of the Dreamforge Titans we had in stock." (side note: they used to have both 28mm on the shelf, now both are gone)
"Yeah, that's a cool model."
"You know, I didn't really think about it too much until I was at a convention and saw one in the flesh assembled and painted up. That is one gnarly model."
"I know, I saw <random person's name> putting one together."
"Yeah, the power fist has like...40 individual pats, but it's fully articulated. It's the first model I've put together over the years that came with its own screwdriver."
"Like 'here, you're going to need this'"
"Yeah, the screws are just there to keep the joints together so that it's posable, but it's like you see that and you know 'holy cow, they aren't effin' around here.'"

It struck me as neat to hear people talking about DFG. Had to resist tossing in my faux-hipster impression and going "Well, I liked DreamForge back when they made stuff in metal..."

I have a feeling if WGF can get their act together and put the APC into the retail channel before July (doubtful, I know) then they'd make a killing versus the...whatever the heck it is GW made.

Just got back from the local GW, where the store worker just couldn't stop saying all the things about DFG and the Levis that he didn't like...including how much they took their look from 40k. I was boggled. Then, he said something about "Like, take a look at their orks..."

"They don't have orks"

"Well, maybe I'm thinking of someone else"

Bring up pic of the Crusader Levi on my phone.

"Yeah, that's what I was thinking about, I just don't like it".

All this intermixed with him insisting that the IK is 8" tall.

When he brought his out to show it off, I grabbed a tape measure and we measured it at 6 1/4".

"Yeah, I guess so. So, like, 3/4" for the base and it's probably about 7""

I had been getting along with him relatively well, since he took over for the last guy.

I can't wait until the WD with the pics of the IG...er...AM Taurox "short bus" shows up, so I can make fun of it in front of him.

Mark,

I was on your webstore a couple of minutes ago, and the regular prices were slashed with another price there in their stead. Did you forget to put an end to the sale?

Not exactly urgent but we don't know for sure if the discount coupon will turn out to be a real thing that exists, or if shipping can happen from China or not, since a US based coupon would be a lot less useful. We also don't know when it might happen, or even if it's 100% likely to happen this year the way WGF are going with the things they're producing. So, I might buy them anyway. (And if the coupon ever materialises with decent shipping, I can buy APCs instead).

No rush though, being honest, I'm unlikely to even clip them from the sprues this year, let alone paint a force of them. I'm still struggling through the two fantasy armies I started late last year.

Perhaps Mark is continuing to strike while the iron is hot so to speak by keeping the sale on. The more Leviathans that are out in the world, the more people will see them and choose them as a viable alternative, after all.

Blood Sacrifice to Khorne

Hello! I am quite interested in this project. Mainly for the lovely (and inexpensive) models being made. I'm making my way as best I can through the 100 pages of this thread, but it's a bit of work.

Call me lazy, but I would really appreciate if someone were to write up a brief overview of where this project is going. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks!

Short write-up of where this project is going :
Dreamforge-Games and WGF are partnering to make awesome models.

The Eisenkern line of miniatures is progressing with the wave 3 designated miniatures, but slower than all have anticipated.

Mark from DFG is working on designs and background for the Iron Core universe. Rules are being worked on for a game based on the Iron Core universe. Hopefully it will be out late this year (2014).

After that, an OpFor line of miniatures (Hopefully the Shadokesh-an alien faction) then expanding with more factions down the road.

Yes, All of them.

I still don't understand why people play GW games anymore. Everyone knows the rules are broken, and now the models suck. I understand we have a lot invested in the 40k universe, but its like kicking each other in the balls because we were playing soccer, but someone took our ball away. Its true! I wish I could trade in all my stuff at what I paid and pick up stuff from Victoria Miniatures to replace it.

I like DFG stuff, but not the stormtroopers in the GW universe. I like how the alpha rules are coming together.

Honestly I only stuck around because I like the background. Lots of rule systems do Sci fi soldiers well, but I've never found a good one to use my Orks with.

If a rule system had lists where I could realistically use some sort of cool Sci fi troops and Orks, I would be set.

If Mark made an Ork proxy, I don't know what I would do.
