Freehand. And really basic, honestly. It's the distance and small photos. But thanks.

Sometime tomorrow night I will check my (15) APCs and see if I have the same problem.

Yep, that's my plan for tomorrow night as well. If it's just the one, I'll be ok with a Loki/Odin to make. If it's more than that it might be a bit uglier, since that part seems to be important to the machine gun being able to be posed/moved. My luck will say all 5 have the issue, but here's hoping Murphy was napping for a little bit.

This minor hiccup aside, it is still a very impressive kit. Most of the stuff has gone together very easily and even the fiddliest parts have been pretty simple. My eyesight must terrible as I struggle with the directions and how to orient the parts, but a dry-fit usually makes it readily obvious. The only place I'm finding its fanciness to be a two-edged sword is that I'm finding there's some parts I don't want to assemble until they're painted (e.g. - the "glass" and wheels, among others) because otherwise I'll foul them up or spend way too much time masking off things. Given my progress at actually painting anything, this might keep them unassembled for longer than I was waiting for them...

I know that feeling Krinsath. I had the devil of a job trying to work out how best to build it into stages that I can paint the inside and the outside in one fell swoop but get a good level of detail in the painting - doubt I'll ever be in the same field as DWartist though.

Mark has been in contact, as he said, and wants to know how many of each part I have that has been effected. As I still am not sure whether part B20 is suppposed to be flat-faced or have some detail on it, I have had to be a little wooly in my answer, but that is service. He said that I shouldn't have to be asking here for bits that should have been in the model, which is true, but I was just trying to save him some hassle and expense. I have before compared these models to Finemoulds stuff, and Mark should be rightly proud that they stand out so well.

Palladium books, on the other hand ........ well, they deserve everything they get. (Except more money!)

"Ask ten different scientists about the environment, population control, genetics, and you'll get ten different answers, but there's one thing every scientist on the planet agrees on. Whether it happens in a hundred years or a thousand years or a million years, eventually our Sun will grow cold and go out. When that happens, it won't just take us. It'll take Marilyn Monroe, and Lao-Tzu, and Einstein, and Morobuto, and Buddy Holly, and Aristophanes…then all of this…all of this…was for nothing. Unless we go to the stars." I think that since more than a single kit had the same problem it was well worth bringing it up publicly so others can check their kits too

(given model making communities habit of buying stuff and sticking in a cupboard)

IF there is a widespread problem WGF/Mark need to know ASAP so they can fix it all at once rather than a steady trickle over the next few years

Agreed. If I hadn't been in the middle of fiddling with it, I wouldn't have checked for another week or two, and that's on a just-arrived model. It actually leapfrogged the stuff on my painting desk (which lead to some awkward "need more space" moments) because I just like the design. For someone who wasn't as interested in the design, or was put off by the wait and putting it on their "some day" pile, they might not check them for months or a year+ and finding it out then is really annoying.

It's still annoying to an extent, but your KS backers are likely to be your more understanding customers (in theory, if you haven't screwed up your relationship...PB...). If it is a widespread defect with that sprue, asking folks to check the thing they just got to see if they need the bit is going to be preferred over "now where the hell did I put that box..." you'll see before too long in this hobby.

Well, good thing Mark said he is having word passed on to WGF so they can fix it.

Ok, just checked all 15 of mine. Specifically, I checked for the presence of part B21, as well as any "indentations" in parts B20 (as shown in Conrad Turner's pics). 3 of the kits are missing B21 and show the same B20 issues. Of the remaining 12 kits that do all have B21, 3 or 4 of them show some indentations in B20, but not as bad as the kits that are missing B21. So, looks like this particular sprue wasn't getting enough plastic injected into it? It's a good thing it got reported in the thread. Apart from the one I assembled right away, it will probably be several months before I get to the others.

I have not bought any of the existing Eisenkern troops, because while they look awesome, I just can't justify more plastic troops in my house until I can get out of my massive dry spell and back to painting to clear out some of the backlog.

That being said, I would definitely buy some Shadokesh if they all follow the aesthetic of the ones shown. Those are simply awesome, and something different from the existing alien forces in all the mainstream games out there. Even if they are somewhat restricted in a force (whenever rules show up), it would still be like having a Inyanden army of Wraithguard- if those Wraithguard were designed after some sort of wierd Lovecraftian Stargate Jaffa troops mashup.

I approve!

Az, don't want to water anyone's procession here, but have you looked at the sprues on those APC's yet?

I didn't get any. I went in for around $700 at the time, and got 3 each of the 4 types of walkers, some big guns, a few girls and some terminators. I'd have bought more (APCs) via the coupon that never happened, if it had happened.

Bit it didn't happen(ed).

DFG was one of my first KSs, and I only bought 1 Leviathan Crusader. Looking back, I should have gotten the extra guns and arms. I'm very glad to have supported DFG in their relaunch into plastic. Seeing their product in stores makes me very happy.

I really look forward to Mark's next project. I'm sure he learned a lot on this KS, and will apply that going forward.

Well finally got mine!

And I was not really glad at all after having paid for this delivery $ 74 for shipping!!! (this is a robbery in open daylight without a mask on! [as we say in Italy]) and €110 for Import Tax.

1. Mark (and after all that time I don't bother who, either WGF or Mark, as it is Mark's KS and therefore everything that is concerned with is his responsibility) forgot to send me my Valkir Support Troopers box!

2. Quality is sadly and strangely not up to the first wave. I bought 3 boxes of the Panzerjäger (aka 10 Woman Squad). The grips for the weapons are only partially present on the sprue, as it seems that the sprue they're on were poorly cast - strangely since everything else on said sprue is top notch. Since I have a lot from the troopers expansion box it really doesn't bother me much.
Other than this some really awesome miniatures! And the weapons and helmets too!! Those extra parts will surely all find good use in my SM squads.

3. Quality is sadly on GW par on the Valkir Assault Troopers. Especially visible on the helmets. Sad as those are otherwise of fantastic design! The overall detail quality seems less crisp then all the other things I recieved. And the colour of the plastic deviates from the others. You just have to look at these and at the Heavy Troopers...what a difference.

Apart this: Gee anyone looking for SM standins won't take anything else after having seen those!

These and the Heavy Troopers are shurely going to be painted either as Grey Knights or a homebrew chapter or even both! Great comps on those Valkir Troopers!

So glad I took the mini-Mortis plus most weapon arms, and the APC plus all it's variants, are incredible. Pure win!

And my personal highlight: The command box! Apart from everything beeing ace - and I don't need to be convinced to buy more as I already am determined to - great idea of giving us 2 sets of legs (prebuilt/to be built) for the MULEs! Thinking as a hobbyist! THANKS! Especially since the humble MULE is my favourite.

Ah well seems that I might end up painting some of all this then...and that my pile of shame won't grow as fast as I thought.

Happy to hear you received them. VAT or Import tax is a killer for sure.

1) If there is something missing it will be sent.

2) If there a under filled sprues, we can fix that as well. But a sprue shot would be helpful so I can show it to the WGF China team to help determine if there is an issue… I also need the part #'s and the count of the effected components.

3) I am not seeing a loss of detail crispness, but I suppose that is a subjective matter.

Please send me a message on KS and we can get any missing / mis-casts taken care of.
(edit received your email on KS)

Cheers,
Mark

Just received an email from mark. As a backer he is doing an additional 10% off of the current running 25% off preorder sale for the wave 3 stuff. The ladies seem to be mysteriously absent from the list. But here's the 10% coupon backers have been looking for.

1) What are the rules for fight club?

2) They have not been released yet... They are an April Release along with the Command Squad and the APC upgrade kits.

Yep, that certainly helps.
I can't afford, nor do I really need, anything that is out right now.

Hopefully if this discount for backers works well, Mark can do the same thing when the final kits come out in April.

I would like to get at least one box of the female Jagers to supplement my Kriegsmarine models. Maybe a 10 man box of Stormtroopers also.
That should give me enough Eisenkern to face off against Shadokesh in the future.

Mark... is your site shipping calculator broken? It quotes me 42$ for 10 business days. For that amount of money, I want it delivered on my lap by a kawai japanese schoolgirl, mate.

Seriously, though, is international shipping that much a of a pain? And I mean, those are some slim boxes. (Looking for 2 support valkir sets)

I've been spending the last three days ignoring writing a conference paper and instead building all the goodies that I got sent and boy are they awesome!

The female troopers are excellent, all the proportions look very sensible when you actually have them in hand. I especially like the faces, some young, some old and all very full of character.

The Valkir boxes are equally awesome, beautiful crisp details and no one model looks the same (impressive to say that it is a 20-man kit) I noticed that the unhelmeted heads look great on the torsos, really makes the armour more impressive.

While I haven't finished making the command squad yet, I did build the commander and man is he cool! Reminds me of the GW plastic commanders in that he has so much character (though doesn't cost $40)

Really great stuff overall, well worth the wait in my opinion. Good luck in your future endeavours! I'll be back when the plastic Russians decide to show up
