Well, the new pic of the gnolls make them look much better. There is still hope for this kit. Metal conversion kit is a big no for me. YOu d'ont mix plastic with metal, as the density of each material is too different. They should have used resin.

Eh, I didn't mind the old GW plastic/metal kits.. a lot of my orks were converted using those and I have a Landspeeder with the old metal missile launchers and stuff.. There are issues for using the two for sure but it's not unusable.

That said.. some of the bits in that are really bad looking. Which.. for a kit like that (all bits) is going to do a lot of damage.
I can't even tell what some of the things in the middle row are supposed to be..

I'm reading through the collection of vignettes now and I'm not really sure there's a compelling reason for anyone to buy a forest bandit upgrade kit. Is there some special place for them in the rules?

The vignettes are pretty good, by the way. Lots of neat ideas with just the right length for a good payoff without the extra length to require a lot of world building. I look forward to more.

Regarding the new "upgrade" set coming out, I'm not going to complain about some extra heads. The pieces are going to be that small there wont be a problem attaching them to the minis... It isnt as if they are like the old GW Devastators were you had to pin the metal weapons onto the plastic bodies.

As for making them in resin, it is probably not economical...

GW used to make a number of plastic figures with metal bits, I've never had a problem with them. Indeed I still have some old SM figures that used metal bits and they have held up just as well as the all plastic figures from the same time period.

I rather like these new conversion bits. Not sure if I will build a whole warband of "forest bandits" but more variety for the existing plastic soldiers and cultists is always welcome.

They go on sale next week apparently
Me soldiers! They've turned out to be a bunch of Robbing 'Oods!

I always like to see bits for customizing figures - these make getting a box a likely possibility....

I've been wanting another box of the soldiers anyway, so I would totally throw one of these into the order next week.

Frostgrave is on my short list of refreshing, smaller games, that actually has some traction in gaming clubs. As such i'd love to continue supporting it, and always pre-order their new books, etc... immediately.

Incidentally, does anyone know if Brigade will be offering these for US buyers?

Oh please. My entire space wolf army is 20 odd years old and nearly all metal bodies with plastic arms. So, yes you DO mix metal and plastic and there's no problem with it at all.

Yea, I like metal add on kits to improve the variety. Absolute worst case I have to weigh the base down a bit to keep it from tipping.

running amok, against the reality of defeat

While i have zero interest in these Gnolls for skirmish gaming, i will be looking at them for converting to BloodBowl.
Kolbalds too, if they make hem in plastic.

Well, if Brigade offers them in the US i'll definitely snag a box with the soldiers I was going to order this week anyway.

Anyone else in the states thinking about ordering from Brigade.. I ordered a box of FG soldiers from them and they arrived incredibly fast. Almost Wile E Coyote ordering Acme fast..

I exclusively buy my Frostgrave stuff from them. They're cool folks who supported the game when it was still entirely unknown.

As I said, i'll pull the trigger again as soon as they put up the Outlaw kit.

Shockingly bad by modern standards. Giant glove wearing 2nd ed Attilan Rough Riders had more elegantly sculpted hands.

What's kind of funny is that the dude in the back with his fist on his hip seems to have a decently sized hand in glove. It really just serves to make the rest look worse. I do admit that I have had the gaks of heroic scale, but understand that people still like that. Those hands though... it looks like they severed them from a much bigger hero and attached them to these poor guys.

I've found the size of the hands and at the least bows from the plastic soldier kit to be closer to Reaper's scale and a bit further from the heroic GW type stuff. I say this after having looked at a Mordheim bow and a FG bow two days ago to put on a Reaper model..

That said.. the hands in that picture I linked are all over the place. Some look like boulders or big loafs of artisan bread while others look like small carnie hands.

I've bought all my FG stuff from Brigade. I agree they have always provided good, fast service.

Do they smell of cabbage? Cause that's a deal breaker for me.

I can't pull my eyes away from that guy holding* the bag* over his shoulder*.

* At least, I assume that's what's happening. It could be he's being attacked by a fat one of these.
