Subject: GiraffeX's Man O War adventures - Empire vs Dwarves batrep
Awesome I love Man O War. I havent really set time aside to work on any of the fleets, and I have 1000pt fleets for all the races. But using what free time I have on Epic :/.
Some day, I will get around to Man O War... and it will be good.
All hands to the sails, oars men at the ready there's a fleet of steam powered Iron on the horizon and powering they way through the waves towards us, their goal unknown but they shall not pass Empire waters without questioning.
Another day at sea but this wasn't what Captain Jacob had expected the Dwarves were supposed to be our allies but they don't look very friendly coming at us at full steam, prepare the cannons and brace for impact lads.
1000ish points
No wizards or Man O War cards this time round to make it a bit easier getting back into the game after goodness how long.

The Dwarves
Ship templates
Turn one
Spoiler:
The Empire fleet advance between the two islands keeping the wind in their sails for extra movement.
The Dwarves advance splitting their forces
Half go for the Greatship
While the rest of the fleet with the Dreadnought take on the main Empire fleet between the two Islands.
After an exchange of fire between the Wolfships and the Monitors in the middle they both end up loosing a cannon each, this means that the Monitor can now be boarded unless it repairs itself. The advantage the Dwarves have is that their ships cant be boarded unless they are damaged they also have the ability to repair a damaged part at the end of their turn on each ship on a roll of 5 or 6.
Turn two
Spoiler:
The Monitors advance on the Wolfships taking out a few cannons. The Greatship goes straight in and off loads into both the Ironclad and the Monitors in the centre keeping itself away from the small force on the left. The Wargalleys manage to take out the steamwheel of the nautilus immobilising it. The wolfships then pull in ripping off another cannon and then boarding the middle ship killing all its crew.
On the left side the Monitors take a few long range shots at the Wolfships setting one on fire, in return the Wolfships pull round to face them and unleash the front cannons, that's 9 shots into the Monitors but only get a point of damage through.
Turn three
Spoiler:
The Greatship unloads into both the Ironclad an Monitor again this turn but the Dwarven armour holds firm. The Wargalleys take out the nautilus sending it down to see Davy Jones. The Greatship takes a bit of a beating this turn from the Ironclad. The dreadnought pull in along side one of the Wolfships and gives it a good beating but takes a bit of damage in return.
On the right the Wolfships are in trouble as they now have to deal with the nautilus and Ironclad as well which badly damages the far left Wolfship.
Turn Four
Spoiler:
In the centre the shoot out between the Ironclad and the Greatship continue I think at this point the wind changed direction so the Greatship couldn't go anywhere if it wanted too. The Dreadnought blows the Wolfship next to it out of the water.
On the left the Empire fair a bit better by shooting and then boarding the two Monitors and sinking the vessels. the poor Wolfship on the right takes a bad beating from the Ironclad along side it.
Turn Five
Spoiler:
Not match action on the right this turn the Greatship is loosing its battle to the Ironclad and the Wargalleys go after the Dreadnough one manages to ram it but bounces off the hull.
On the left the Wolfships take out the last Monitor while the Nautilus submerges and takes out a Wolfship with its torpedo.
Turn 6
Spoiler:
The Dreadnought and the Greatship are still taking it out on each other, while the Dreadnought pulls in and starts missing everything. The Wolfships are now behind the Dreadnought but fail to do much to it. The Ironclad that was on the left side now comes in to help take down the Greatship but doesn't do much on the other hand the last mobile Wolfship on the left pulls round and rams the undamaged Ironclad sinking it!
The Nautilus lost its cannon in the fight and runs away to try and repair it.
Turn 7
Spoiler:
The Wargalleys have started to loose their cannons in the fight with the Dreadnought while the Dreadnought sinks another Wolfship but takes two hull points for its trouble.
Turn 8
Spoiler:
The final turn the Nautilus swings round the bottom of the and at the end of the turn will repair its turret so it can submerge next turn with the Greatship in sight. The Iron clad reverses to prepare for raming next turn the Dwarves also start repairing their vessels at the end of the turn its all to much for Captain Jacob who surrenders before his ship is sunk.
I need to win some ships on ebay before the next battle report for my other fleets so not sure when the next batrep will be.
