Slightly different values. For example each trooper has at least 1 hp in firefight but in warpath, a group of 5 troopers can have 3 hp only. Same with attack dice. But other than that, the traits seem to be the same

Warpath is very much the Apocalypse version, but integrated wayyyy better than Apocalypse ever was with 40k.

Haven't seen current ones, no, and google isn't throwing anything up at me. Might be too soon, not yet at retail and still not finished with backer fulfillment

Cozy cockpit of an Imperial Knight

Got both an email and a KS update:

This is a message from your friendly dispatch team to confirm that your order ***-**** has been shipped and (in most cases) should have arrived.

Now we have had a chance to recover from the insanity of November and December we have had a chance to catch up with the paperwork, finish off the mince pies (very important) and are getting everything back to its normal setting of just mildly crazy.

As you no doubt heard we have completed shipping on Warpath Wave 1. However, we are aware, that you have not been given a whole lot of information regarding what that actually means. So we are here to fix that for you.

The way shipping works is that the orders are divided up into batches to try and make picking and shipping as accurate/easy/quick as possible. This does mean that not all orders to the same area ship at the same time. So don't worry if you have not received your order yet but others in your country/area have.

Depending on which country you are in will determine the method of shipping. Most people will receive the entire order in one box. However if your order weighs in between 1.8 and 3.5kg (this is roughly equivalent to an advanced warfare pledge level with few or no extras) AND you live in one of the countries listed below then it is most likely that you will have your order delivered in 2 boxes:
Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, Croatia, Cyprus, Finland, Greece, Hong Kong, Israel, Japan, Peru, Romania, Singapore, South Africa, South Korea, UAE, USA

If your order is sent in two boxes it will most likely be the 3 books in the slipcase in one box and everything else in the other.

Regardless of whether your order is in one box or two, every box you receive will have an invoice in. On this invoice will be a detailed list of your pledge (excluding wave 2 items). If something has not been sent, or is in a separate box, it will have been crossed out on the invoice. If you have ordered a pledge and some or all of the options for that pledge are wave 2 items the number on the invoice should have been adjusted to match how many items you are receiving - so if you ordered a total warfare pledge and you only picked 2 wave 1 battlegroups then the number next to battlegroups will be crossed out and replaced with a 2.

Now, we do still have around 10 orders still here where we have emailed them regarding an address issue and a further 30 or so orders still on query in the pledge manager. We will be chasing those up where we haven't had a response and dispatching them as soon as we can.

We are also getting the odd parcel returned to us now with address/delivery issues. We are contacting you as soon as they arrive with us so we can get them out to you as soon as possible.

What this all basically means is: Don't worry if you do not have your delivery yet, it can take some time to reach you. If you still have not had your order, or any emails for additional information regarding your order, by the end of January then that is the time to email in to let us know that it is still not with you and we will get it resolved for you.

If you have received your order and there is a mis-pack or a missing item that is on the invoice then please email customer services and we will get that resolved for you.

If you have received your order and something is missing from the order and it is not on the invoice because it is crossed out then don't worry, it is on its way (or is in wave 2).

If you have received your order and something is missing from the order and missing from the invoice please email customer services and we will get that resolved for you.

If you have never even filled in the pledge manager then please email customer services and they will get that resolved for you (but just so you know, not filling in the pledge manager makes the dispatch team sad so please try to remember to fill it in on time in future!).

Customer services can be contacted at: support@manticgames.com

Just in case you are not sure here is a list of all the wave 2 items that you will not be receiving just yet (we will update you with more exact information regarding the expected delivery dates on wave 2 items when we are sure what they will be):

• Forge Father Vehicles Battlegroup
• Tunneler Battlegroup
• Chira Transport Battlegroup
• GCPS Battlegroup (Mule only)
• Hornet Dropship Battlegroup
• Corporation Mule Formation
• Plague Mule Formation
• Veer-myn Tunnel Runner Formation
• Hultr Half Track Formation
• Forge Father Vehicle
• Veer-myn Vehicle
• GCPS/Plague Vehicle
• Asterian Vehicle
• Forge Father Hultr Vehicle
• GCPS Mule Transport
• Plague Mule Transport
• Veer-myn Tunnel Runner

Regards,
Matt

Mantic has made a clear and obvious mistake, but instead of fixing it they're doubling down on it. Not great.

I don't think it's a mistake,

I think it's people assuming they'll be able to build everything with the 'best' weapon option despite mantic never promising this

Exactly. Its Mantic doing something GW does too (in the instance of things like Devastators). People expected something different, get upset when they didn't get what they had assumed, and Mantic clarified. The good news is that it sounds like squads with different weapon load outs can split fire! So you still get your cake and you can eat it.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

To be fair, can you imagine the unplanned shipping costs fixing this would incur?

You do realise that the asterian drones are the same and always have been. You get two drones and one of each weapon option. Seems a pretty normal way to do things.

Yeah, to be fair I was expecting to only be able to build one of each weapon type, I'm more iffed about my mortar tripod being broken/confusing as hell to put together.

Mortar doesn't use the full tripod. It uses the two legs together and the mortar makes the third leg. Don't use all 3 leg pieces plus mortar.

Figured that with the third leg, but it does leave an odd gap just below the legs.
Maybe I'm just doing it wrong.

Is the GCPS kit the first plastic kit to contain left-handed troopers shooting their guns? Between that, the jet packs, and the ambiguously female head, I'm really impressed with Mantic's forward-thinking approach. Sadly, they are also forward thinking in that they only give you the bear minimum of appropriate left arms to equip one special weapon per sprue.

No, because every Asterian Drone I received in DZ1, and the extra one I got in DZ2 just for kicks in one of the packs, came with each weapon option - excepting the plasma bombard they made out of metal on a whim later, and then by DZ2 era apparently forgot they made, because I've never seen it on sale again. Same goes for the Goblin guntrack, and the Veermyn chemical pushwagon.

The FF gun platform is different, as the Surtr and Jotunn come in a different boxes, but that has always been explicitly stated. The Urban Demolisher is another metal upgrade from DZ1 they nearly forgot, and I had to remind them it actually existed and people had paid money for it in the alpha stage of Warpath, as it was missing.

on the forum. Obviously

A quick question of those who have the book - is there any form of army structure? I read the beta rules for firefight that was on their kickstarter, and I didn't see any sort of structure. It was really just "take whatever you want, but if you take too many of a certain unit in a certain points level your opponent gets bonuses."

For full Warpath a unit has limits on the teams it is made up of.

I don't have my book but for example a unit can start with a requirement of 2-4 squads of basic infantry.
They the can have the option of taking 0-2 Heavy weapon teams
0-1 specialists. Such as snipers or race specific stuff.

The individual units also in some cases have up grades that can be bought.

Different races have different setups GCPS have a very open structure with a lot of options resulting in very flexible units that can be all rounders.
The enforcers however have a more rigid structure witth an emphasis on small units that are very good at one thing.

I really like it I have had a.lot of fun list building making up set.units that I feel will be usefull and keeping a record.of.them to make myself a.plug and play feeling way of.making a army fast.

Your last point is especially laughable and comical, because not only the 7th ed Valkyrie shown dumber things (like being able to throw the troopers without parachutes out of its hatches, no harm done) - Irbis

Selecting Units
Each force will be made up of a number of
units, each with its own entry in the force list.
There are no specific units that you must or
must not take – it’s up to you to decide which
units will work best for you in the game, or
simply which units you like the look of!

Page 76 in Firefight, and basically the same speech page 75 of Warpath ie no force org, just a points limit; I imagine there will eventually be a tournament pack that adds optional restrictions, but it's free choice out of the box.

e: Warpath of course has restrictions within each unit, ie 1-4 teams, or 2-6 teams, but that's all, there's nothing like the 40k force org chart, or even the KoW Regiment-Troop-Hero-War Engine setup.

Is it balanced at least? Like, is it possible to spam stuff?

You can spam stuff, but the more powerful stuff has a secondary points system, High Value Assets. You only get so many points of those per game before you start to give your opponent VPs.

For example, in a 2000 point game you took nothing but Corporation Lancer Tanks, you'd end up with 18ish HVAs. A 2000 point game has a limit of 5 HVAs, so your opponents would be starting the game with 26 bonus Victory Points.

I like that mechanic. Are there HVAs that aren't just rare vehicles and monsters? Meaning, can you take powerful veteran skills as an HVA instead of a tank?

I like it as well. It's markedly preferable to the market leaders mechanic of buying units in bulk with $$ allowing you to spend zero points in game to use those units.

There are a couple of HVA infantry squads, mostly those using exotic/experimental/rare equipment. I think the enforcer team with the fusion gun is an HVA and maybe the Veermyn Tangle.
