I thought blood bowl was scheduled for release later this year? If that's the case, how is this store running a pre season warm up that requires in store blood bowl miniature purchases in the next couple of weeks??

There have a been a couple of Bloodbowl events being run by GW as of late since Bloodbowl was announced. Warhammer World has the upcoming Bugman's Tournament with the old rules and teams available for download.

I get that there's event packs and downloads available, but physical models??

Blood Bowl is releasing in 2017, not later this year. No idea what they're going to sell at WHW.

Maybe those old orc cheerleaders?

I would assume that the intention is that you kitbash your team from other models.

At GAMA GW official said 2016 Q3 or Q4.

Is it at all feasible that they'd do a mini release as a "pre season", whilst keeping a larger release til later this year? Ie, 2 teams made available in April, more teams and a box set in Q3/4?

I'm thinking Skitarii preceded the Mechanicum, that sorta thing.

Are the Bloodbowl teams going to be traditional WHFB types, or will we be seeing Stormcast Eternal teams playing against Khorne teams and Fyreslayer teams?

The test models show an old school human team, not Stormcasts.

Blood Bowl is the first game from the new specialist game studio at GW launched in January.

Quicker turn-around and more flexibility were among the reasons this new specialist game studio was created in the first place.

These guys only have been in their new job for 3 months now. It'll be a while until they find their rhythm.

Yes this is what i also assumed , there are lots of people making teams from fantasy models.

Update, I asked about the models on sale and was advised no new models. Queried if that meant old models being put on sale otherwise how can you enter, so far no response though the store is closed today. So either I've jumped the gun and made more of this than is to be made, or the store's response is a red herring. Will update as I hear anything else.

Maybe you can enter by converting fantasy models, as alluded to by Alex above.

Maybe, thought converting a chef or a cheerleader seems a tad harder to do than a catcher. Meh, time will tell. Apologies if I've jumped the gun folks.

For awesome and random minis like coaches, apothecaries, cheer leaders, chefs, etc. for a wide variety I recommend Comixinios. Ebay is the best and who sells them on Ebay can differ but the watermark and style you see here in the product in this link is them. Their store on ebay as well. Have a few options GW never even did. Alternative sculpts...mmmm.
Our sizable league last summer had some teams. I got a Chaos Dwarf team from an IndieGoGo they did a few years back and man, talk about sweet Bull Centaurs that can actually fit on the pitch squares. Explore on Ebay and Google if you don't find what you want. I picked up Norse dice for when I played that team, and teams with monsters like trolls, ogres, etc. also benefit heavily from Comixinios.

^^That will help with the buy in store part a lot.

But truthfully with Impact and other newer sites and the current rules. I don't see GW doing Blood Bowlers a favor when the release a new version of the game.

Yeah I remember reading that, this was more aimed at the store suggesting models being on sale, which differed to what we'd heard before. The post you link to, AFAIK, is only about the league they're running, and not about models.

I personally think no they will not do that. I think in the past Jervis has regretted putting the WFB races into Blood Bowl as some players can get confused and think it's the same universe. I'm hoping Specialist Games don't do this and keep with the grim and slightly silly way things are now.

I think it's going to be very interesting what happens when it comes out. Will Specialist Games make an effort with the community or will they force them to come up with a slightly different version of the rules? I'm hoping work with the community!

Being the same universe was a big bonus though; it was more immersive. Why would Blood Bowl occur somewhere other than Warhammer?

I read one of the Blood Bowl omnibuses and it all read as if they were travelling over the existing Warhammer world, the same taverns and characters, to play Bloodbowl.

The only reason to not do so would be to prevent kitbashing and to make it look less bizarre when you bring back Blood Bowl after destroying the world it's set in? Maybe this new Blood Bowl is set thousands of years in the future too.
