I do like these models but after all this time waiting for Chorfs, i'm kinda just over it. They should have finished off peoples favorites before moving onto stuff like this.

Especially since the Blood Bowl universe is the happier, lighter version of the Warhammer World as wars are limited and rare

Enh, that one is probably going to stay lost in the mists of time.

This is the first team in awhile that has my attention. They look fun. Hopefully they don’t come with a price increase.

I'm intrigued to see what starplayers they will have.

Morg, obviously, Deeproot also seems like a certainty but that would mean either giving them and Deeproot a new “league” or more likely putting them in the halfling thimble cup which means Akhorne, Barik, Cindy, Griff, Grim, Karla, Zug, Puggy, Rumbelow, and Grombrindal. Plus any Gnome star players they care to invent of course.

I think we’ve seen a Star player already? In the video, there’s a player with the ball on a rope and hook.

I’m not seeing him anywhere in the other photos.

True, I assumed it was an alternative assembly, but the body is different from the others.

I hope some starplayer mounted on some other animal.

I remember when David the Gnome was murdered with a chainsaw, the new team fits perfectly into Blood Bowl. No tonal difference whatsoever.

Yeah, I don't even know how one begins to say Gnomes don't fit into this game lol.

I play a team with beer keg carrying pigs, and a Yhetee... one of my other main teams sometimes accidentally eats one of their players or uses them as a projectile.

The gnomish team is amazing. I don't even play BB these days and I want those models. Great character in them and their animal friends.

No. But I remember when literally billions of humans weren’t decapitated by Chainsaw, only for the team responsible to use the severed head to sneak a touchdown.

I think the old lore had Gnomes being secluded in/around that Albion island. They make more sense in that region but would feel off being around the empire and mainland old world.

Kinda wondering if that supposed star player is plastic and part of the kit, usually star players/resin minis are not included in the preview trailers.

They did not. Albion was just a blank space on the map when gnomes existed in WFB.

They were just dwarfish 'cousins' who lived alongside them, and lived outside dwarf communities in even smaller numbers than dwarfs. The largest such community was 'Glimdwarrow' in the 'Mirrormoors' of the Empire. Mostly the lived in the Worlds Edge mountains.

You could take them as part of a Dwarf army in 3rd edition, if for some reason you wanted cheap (5 points instead of 10, before equipment) troops. And were willing to go from Toughness 4 to Toughness 2, and leadership 8. But they had movement 4 and initiative 3, so I guess that got something in return.

Efficiency is the highest virtue.

Gnomes definitely live in the Empire… somewhere. But I do recall now that the Albion Campaign did mention them as one of the many oddities that inhabit the islands. But only in passing.

Had to check my calendar to see if we weren't in April Fool's territory yet - a BB Gnome team has to be the biggest surprise GW has come up with since... I honestly don't know.

I can sympathize with those wishing the plastic sprue allocation to be used on more widely wished-for sets, but these gnomes are a rather fun bunch.

That is awesome. Hopefully the rules won't be a GW special, but the models are ace.

Nifty trick he’s got. Kind of like On the Ball but it doesn’t rely on Ag or potentially move you away from the line of scrimmage.

Thanks GW.

Thanks a bunch. I'm leaning out over the fence on BB now on the 'BUY' side.

A gnomish team for the household will be fun.

Their most current lore - if you accept WHFRP 4e as canon - are that they live across the Empire but in small numbers. Glimdwarrow is still their largest community but is largely a shadow of itself after Grom the Paunch killed the majority of their population. The remaining 8 'clans' are all vigorously in opposition to each other as they all blame each other for Grom.

It's weird because after they re-appeared in 4e, one of the books for the Empire in Ruins series retconned a previously gnome character into a halfling and people thought that meant they'd been jettisoned again (http://lawhammer.blogspot.com/2021/08/wfrp-gnome-npc-with-graeme-davis.html). However this team would suggest that their revival continues.

It's nice that the ball is stuck on his foot, instead of just hanging in mid-air on the end of that line. Maybe it won't immediately snap off.

Anyway, I'm probably going to pass on this one. I've already got plenty of unpainted BB teams laying around.

To those who are saying gnomes don't belong in Blood Bowl, here's a direct quote from the Lore of Nuffle, featuring in the first edition rulebook then later requoted in the Blood Bowl video games, via commentators Jim and Bob:

"Did you know there was once a team of gnomes, the Shortstuff Scurriers, who first started playing in the Blood Bowl in 2479? The unfortunate team lost 34 games in a row - their first ever 34 games, in fact - and promptly disbanded and went home again, taking their ball with them...."

Bring an Unicorn team then please... That sums up why many may feel these Gnomes are going on a weird tangent.
