Yeah for my army I would have preferred to buy like 3-4 different mark tactical squad boxes separately, and then mix & match torsos and legs and arms and heads and all. Would have made them all a lot more unique. Maybe some day

That is what I was thinking too in all honesty. They want to fill out more basic infantry in plastic after all. Stuff like destroyers, assault, breachers, etc are all things that make up a lot of armies. Heck a plastic rapier is another thing that wouldn't surprise me in all honesty.

That's what makes it suspect to me. They showed with BaC that they're sensible enough to leave the minis generic even if they're theming the box. Why limit the audience by including a unit only one legion (well 2, AL with a specific rite of war) can use?
Though they did that on the 40k side for the first time with Dark Vengeance having Dark Angels not all that long ago. I was doubtful when I read about plastic DAs in a 40k starter box, but it happened, so this isn't outside the realm of possibility - especially if it's being sold as a standalone boxed game rather than an army-starter box.
As for the Ultras - meh - they're just blue marines and you can paint them green or yellow or purple if you want to. Given that they're the poster boys and the rumour doesn't indicate any UM-specific units, that becomes a real possibility as it's just the colour scheme on the box (and a transfer sheet). Just like Calth. Automatically Appended Next Post: Necros wrote:Assuming... the tactical marines will be the same models from Betrayal at Calth? Assault marines sound good though, buy I don't need any more tacticals really. Might have to see if I can find someone selling the assault marines afterwards I guess.
I'd be much more excited by MKIII or MKV, but we'll see what happens...

They'd probably do Tartaros this time, especially if they power armour is a different mark.

Ooh, I always wanted to buy some Red Butchers just to paint them. If anything of that is true and the box is priced similary, it's going to have an insane value... Butchers alone are like 50 quid.

I can't imagine them doing world eaters vs marines in HH, I mean, blue and gold vs white and blue?
Maybe the Assault marines will come with power swords so they can be the Ultramarines special version of Assault Marines?

The rumored set would be awesome for me as a WE player. Could use a few more assault marines, but I'd still give it an "A" if true. Conversely, I would have little interest in a Phall/breacher-oriented box.
If GW's goal is indeed about producing a range of plastics for 30K, then I'd expect that potential future kits like assault squads and even breachers would be based on Mk.4.

Unless one of the goals of making 30k plastic is to get base suits of power armor in various marks, so FW can focus on upgrade packs and special units. In which case a Mk. 3 box ( IH vs. IF?) makes sense. Later they could do a Mk 6 box ( RG vs. AL?), a Mk. 5 box (Don’t know who uses a lot of that) or some such.
I don’t see any reason to keep locked in Mk.4 just for compatibility. The mult-part plastics are pretty flexible anyway.

I would LOVE a Phall box.... but the chances of getting it are about as good as GW making a good plastic Magnus model

I thought they couldn't really do Mark 2/3 in plastic due to the amount of detail and ridges on the model.
That was the rumour at least.

I think that was more people specualting than any solid rumour. Plus the plastic MkIV is a bit different to the resin so if there is any problems it can be changed subtly to get round it I'm sure.

One rather undermined by the Iron Hand in the recent DW:OK box, who wears a version of MK3 that's been slightly redesigned to work in plastic(chiefly the vents on the backpack changed - I actually prefer it to the resin version). Also if they can do Cataphractii in plastic, they can do MK3, the design issues are fundamentally the same(riveted layered armour with heavy added plates on top).

I need to acquire plastic Skavenslaves, can you help?
I have a blog now, evidently. Featuring the Alternative Mordheim Model Megalist.
