Day 106

Spartans squeaking toward completion. Oh, and silver on the sponson weapons now I remember. Just awaiting the underside of the tracks to dry.

And now metallics done, first coat of red down. Second and final red to be done later this evening.

All done! No more Epic to build or paint, so tomorrow it’s back to 28mm.

Next up silver on weapons, red spot, basing. Should get that done tomorrow. Which means I should probably start undercoating the Spartans tonight.

Next up in this scale will ideally be more Predators and Sicarans to bulk out my Armoured Detachment, then a bunch of Speeders and Bikes.

Definitely not more Astartes support, as they’re a pain in the arse to build.

Day 107

And here we go with the Kratos, the biggest single piece I’ve tackled so far this year.

Mostly it’s just being neat and cunnin’ with the metallics. Turret is pretty much done, but lots of bits on the main hull.

However having done all the tracks and due to wanting lots of possible handholds, leaving it to dry for now. But very much on course to finish tomorrow. Maybe Thursday.

Day 108

Wee lunchtime session to start blocking in some hull greeblies, break up the black and add some visual interest.

Genuine props to the model’s designer, because there’s *just enough* of such panels.

Will do the other side and the sponsons tonight. Maybe belt through the reds as well. Oh, and the metallics will be getting a Nuln Oil was before I’m done.

Also, I’m naming that Kratos “Mr Choomly-Warner” and there’s nothing you or anyone else can do to stop me.

I think that’ll do for the base metals. Soon as they’re dry, on with the Nuln Oil, meaning I’m now within a gnat’s chuff of getting this big boy done to a satisfactory standard.

Kratos seems to be coming along nicely.

Day 109

Wash is once a week for clothes, daily for me. For I am not a Filth Wizard.

But that’s the first red done on the Kratos. Second coat and tidy up to come later.

Then the orangey glow I use on Volkite weapons, which should balance it all out.

hey, that red is scarce but it breaks up the monotny of blakc and chainmail way better than I represented in my head.

I think the turret might need a splash more. The top of that is very black at the moment.

That Kratos is looking sick.

Even did the detailing on the guns. Well, I say detailing. More splodges of different colours.

However you butter it, with six, yes six (see the combi Bolter!) Volkite weapons of varying stripes, it’s now ready to give some filthy Heretics the most explosive diarrhoea in the history of trouser ruining besmirchment.

Also got the Sicaran under/base coated last night. So that’s what will be up next.

Then I may go back to the Assault Squad, as they occupy a shelf of otherwise painted models and frankly that’s getting on my pip.

Day 110

Sicaran now well underway, as the tracks are the majority and most intensive part of the necessary metallics.

Decided to watch ropey horror movies tonight, so I may get more done tonight.

Day 111, I think

Is Saturday, so been to annoy the Nephloof. He’s even giving paw, and came up for some proper “head on lap” sofa cuddles. Which has meant limited hobby time.

But, progress is progress. The hull’s metallics are pretty much done.

oh yeah, this turret already looks 30% cuterer with metallics

Need to do the sponson and turret today. Currently on stand-by for kid and dog sitting, so will be a later hobby start.

be sure to tell us how this fine specimen performs on the battlefield. I always say that tanks need proper care like all the other pets, they need to get out on the field regularly and blow crap up. A Tank is for life, not for Christmas.

Nephfloof would be a nightmare made manifest on the board! Nothing would go unslobbered. For he is the very best of good boys. Spesh when he’s doing cuddles and having a snooze.
