All out of Bubblegum - “I’m here to kick and chew bubblegum, and I’m all out of bubblegum. Your entry should be a specialist who does one thing, and does it really well. Normally cashing out nameless thugs in over the top displays of violence, but we can open it up for other options. They'll lie prone with their sniper rifle for five weeks to get the one perfect shot, they'll keep shouting coordinates into their radio even while the enemy's charging into melee range, they've got a chainaxe and every single other thing on the battlefield is a skull to put it into. They have unwavering (possibly insane) focus on that one task that, as long as they've got one unbroken bone and half a functioning organ in their body, they're gonna keep doing it.

From the Vault - Some armies like necrons have reserves of warriors waiting to be awoken, or chambers of stomcast. Chapters of marines will only break out fabled relics for special battles. Fantasy adventures will pillage ancient treasures from forgotten depths. Honor guards protect valuables. And beneath the wasteland survivors dwell. There are a number of ways to interpret this theme, but entries should either be locked and protected, in reserves, looting, or related to those activities. (I assure you, me watching the new Fallout show, noticing we are on challenge 111, and having played a ton of Fallout 4 back in the day are completely unrelated to this topic)

Glow Up - Paint an updated sculpt of an older model (lots of choices there)-- bonus points if you paint the older one as well. Alternatively, start with a low level character, and convert or kitbash a more experienced version. Maybe something like an old Ral Partha three-stage character, of a Frostgrave wizard and apprentice, as they're basically the same in game. If you want to be more literal, something featuring OSL or other lighting effects. If you want to go meta, paint or re-paint something you have done previously, to show off how much you've improved as a hobbyist.

Nice Ride - An entry where the "rider" gets around on anything other than his own two legs - weather it be a tank, a mech, a noble steed, chariot, or even Professor X's wheel chair. MasterBlaster runs bartertown? Yes he does. Let someone or something do all the hard work, and sit back and enjoy the ride!

Poll will run 2 days

Hrrrm. I think I might be able to bring three different Ghazskulls to the table if we go with glow up. One of them is already painted though.

Glow Up sounds the coolest, but the most circumstantial as well.

I went for From the Vault as I have some AoS adventurers I've been itching to paint. I'd probably be able to come up with some stuff for the other options. Nice Ride would probably require me to finish some of the exodite dragon riders I've been converting for ages, though...

They Live is one of my favourite movies, so this was a no brainer. Plus, it's an excuse to paint the bad batch - Clone force 99 are a TEAM of butt kicking specialists, after all.

Glow Up does sound cool (and I've got a suitable candidate, albeit with some work done on the base, hopefully that'd be acceptable as a start point - the marine himself is yet to come into contact with a brush), but it was my idea so I should go for Bubblegum (plus the free mini this month ended up converted into something that'll play into it). Although if Nice Ride comes up, I did have an idea this morning that made me giggle for a bit, so there's that...

I voted for All out of Bubblegum. I can find something for any topic but I don't have anything particular in mind for any of them.

Those are the best ideas. Let's hope Nice Ride wins, even if I voted for Bubblegum.

This is Daia we’re talking about here, so there’s a distinct probability* that the end result will be…unpublishable.

I can assure you, it'd be quite appropriate for a children's tv show.

That should be our 2 days, so mount up and let’s ride!

Bubblegum didn’t make it on the second chance, and the other 2 options were tied. Might just get a full round of new choices next month.

Now I need to decide if I need to paint shroudrunners, shining spears, or a bike chaplain…

Despite having Prof X to be painted, I feel as it's been used to exemplify I must come up with something else.

Don’t let that hold you back. It’s not like I haven’t worded topics with models in my to-paint pile in mind before…

That's okay. I'm a passionate degenerate. I can fill in if need be.

You will of course make the non-heretical choice. I have faith in you. Or else.

It’s a question of wants and needs. Part of my yearly goals is to paint a diverse selection of models (at least 2 units each from at least 4 different factions). Right now my YTD shelf is all marines and tyranids. I need to start branching out, and painting some eldar would be a good start on that.

The chaplain does not check any boxes for goals, but I actually want to get him painted up, as he’s awesome. So it might be best just to ride that momentum. As that’s been in short supply lately.

Paint both is of course, an option.

Frame of mind and point of view are also important thing. To the mouse tucked in the druid’s hat, he’s got a nice mode of transportation. And the raven perched on a staff can save some wear and tear on his feathers (but that’s a matter of a pinion)

The rescued in the arms of their savior?

As long as someone or something else is doing the work getting you around, it can work.

Early morning over coffee before work on the 24th. Runs for 2 days, so closed this morning.

The next month polls don’t have a set day they go up. Generally I ask for suggestions mid-month, and try to get the poll up about a week before the end of the month to give people a little head’s up on what’s coming. So around the 24-25th-ish? It’s not set in stone.

I should probably post in the main comp thread that the poll is up so nobody misses their chance to vote. Sorry about that.

Ah, so I didn't miss the announcement, then.

No worries, I have lots and lots of options for pretty much any theme.

Does the "rider" have to be visible, or can they be implied.? I have various mecha kits that I could enter, but none of them have open cockpits or even particularly obvious hatches.

Implied is fine. Pretty much any vehicle will fit the bill.

I know I'm going back and forth here but weather has been so terrible in my region that not using the internet is like bashing myself in the head with a live plasma grenade, its maddening.. and my double cold hasn't helped either (still on it :/ probably weather induced in the first place, because its really that bad)

Still skipping this month though, been trying to finally get the palet to my aos nurgle army (and managing with my first mortal)
so don't want to put a hamper on my inspiration by switching it up with another vehicle which could only be another kitbashed primaris tank for orks or something.. and no matter how cool that sounds.. no I won't do it.

Maybe if next month allows for something dirty I can paint a nurgly thing as I kinda want to stick with that for a while (pile of assembled shame is rather big of em)

Best case of a "vehicle" I have for Nurgle is the glottkin and that's really too much for one month.

It doesn' have to be vehicle but something you can ride on - horse, other animal, creature or person etc.

It was brought up before, but I think for june-july we are going to have a summer blockbuster side quest. Same basic rules as the main comp, but over 2 months. Challenge thread and vote as normal, but not on the league table. Just an unoffical side project to help people with big stuff the need motivation and help with, that takes more then a month. Run parallel to the main comp.

I’ll put up a get ready thread in leiu of a poll sometime early/mid next month, so people can get stuff together for the start date.

(Assuming they don’t already have it glaring at them from their Pile of Shame)

Someone with a nurgling shoulder buddy would work.

Actually I completely forgot I also have two maggoth lords..

Orghotts Daemonspew and Twiceborn.

I think Daemonspew will be more fun to paint right now, as atleast he's armored.

Painting a maggoth lord in one month seems a lot more doable than a Glottkin anyway.

So would this be allowed for the vehicle challenge?
