A Warhammer World in the USA? Get the details here.

We’re excited to announce today that we’re starting work on a new Warhammer World… this time in the USA!

That’s right, soon there will be another must-visit Warhammer location to add to your bucket list!

Based just outside Washington DC, this new Warhammer World will be a flagship venue that celebrates Warhammer in all its forms: gaming, painting, modelling, storytelling, events, and community. The original Warhammer World in Nottingham, UK sets a very high bar. We’re not going to replicate it brick-for-brick, but instead build something equally uncompromising on quality and experience, something worthy of Warhammer’s rich settings and of course the title ‘Warhammer World’. And of course, at the heart of all this is creating something extraordinary for all of you – the Warhammer fans!

Now, there’s a lot to do – but with a fair wind, and the might of the Emperor and his inexhaustible armies, we hope to open the doors late in 2027.

I sincerely hope it is a lovely mega store, gaming hall, bar and exhibition like we have in the UK. But I also sincerely hope that's all it is as they haven't mentioned anything of manufacturing/other departments

I wonder if any of the old US Games Day displays are held in storage.

There was a particularly memorable Dark Eldar vs Imperial Guard one.

Vignettes included a Praetorian Guard firing line, a Private Ryan inspired exploding Eldar getting heavy bolter'd on a Chimera Hull and Ravenwing veering off to pursue their own agenda.

Depending on which direction they go in "Based just outside Washington DC" this can be a place I raid on a regular basis, depending on how my weekends shape up.

Excited!

I’d be much more likely to hit up DC over Nottingham, but it would still be a journey.

Will be interesting to see what they end up doing.

I've always wanted a WH World closer to home.

While the US makes a lot of sense for that location, it's kind of unfortunate. It'll be some years before I feel like it's safe to go to the US.

You’ll also likely get all the WHW Exclusives.

Warlord Titan Bonce, Heresy Librarian in Terminator Armour, Grombrindal stuff if there’s a Bugmans attached, that Iron Warriors Praetor That’s Always Out Of Stock. Rogue Trader and the Realm of Chaos Books.

I'm lucky to live in the DFW area of Texas to have easy access to the big Warhammer Store & Cafe we've got here. Something like that on a much bigger scale would be great.

I'm sure GW (or their contractor) did a lot of research to determine the best city to build this in for number of customers/tourists, cost of rent and utilities, access, etc.

I'm sure it'll be nice to have another big Warhammer destination to visit, but at the same time I can see this possibly overshadowing the Nottingham Warhammer World and I can't say that feels like it would be a particularly good thing.

A lot of social media is saying that Canada would have been a much better / safer choice, but I'm guessing this has been in progress for quite a while already.

It will be great to see the new diaramas that the team comes up with, even if only in picture format for the forseable future and not up close.
Visited the newly refurbished WW-Notts last year with the kids. Spent the entire day just looking at the exibits. Great visit.

I wonder how dificult it would be to engineer and build a 1:1 Warlord model at the front gate...

Wonder if it will have a museum as well?

In terms of practicalities, it may not. After all, The Precious Things live in Nottingham, and have done so, in one HQ or another, since they became Precious. And I question how well they might travel internationally.

The US is the largest market in the Americas, regardless of politics it makes sense to be there, especially near the Boston-NYC-Philadelphia-Washington urban area. Literally every major company in the world continues to do business in the United States, regardless of politics.

There's a hugely significant proportion of the US population in the Northeast, so putting it in That General Area makes a ton of sense.

As for the politics? Well, those can change every four years. It's tough to make long-term business decisions based just on American Political Schizophrenia. I have to assume that this decision was made based on Where The People Are.

And for some of us, needing to travel to another country isn't always practical - for instance, the current regime would make acquiring a passport rather... difficult... for me, so even needing to go to Canada would be problematic.

It was a comment on the optics of announcing it the same week the host country did a lot of really dubious gak, not a comment on the initiative as a whole. It obviously makes sense to have a big destination store in the US.

Considering that at WHW in Notts there is a very good chance of randomly getting to chat with staffers who make the stuff, I doubt it.

DC is like a 7ish hour drive for me, so not a day trip, but maybe a long weekend. Which could be said for pretty much anyone on the bulk of the east coast. And a chunk of people would be in easy day trip range.

Warhammer World isn't seen as the big destination for Warhammer fans to visit because there's a slight chance you might see some of the staff.

This new US one isn't going to overtake the birthplace of Warhammer. It's a bloody holy site at this point, ain't called a pilgrimage for nothing.

Around DC makes sense, as there used to be the Battle bunker around Baltimore Maryland, not too far away before it got downgraded.

It doesn’t change much for us on the west coast. I can’t afford to both go to DC and buy Warhammer minis, so it might as well be in Outer Mongolia Nicer Nottingham.

Honestly, I think there's a valid concern they will try and in the process irritate both sides of the pond and make worse both as a result.

It takes a lot of time and effort to make the exhibit pieces, they tend to make 1, maybe 2 a year for Nottingham. Are they likely to rotate them between sites, is one going to stagnate whilst the other gets investment for example?

Well, at least there's a chance to meet some guys of the rules design team as they're apparently spent their time watching all those tournaments in the US to fix the balance dataslates for 40k, AoS and Kill Team and preparing the next editions.

I somehow doubt the US location will serve alcohol. Not that I care one way or the other, but social drinking on this side of the Atlantic isn't seen as "friendly" when it comes to mothers with little Timmy wanting to see the toy store. I'm actually surprised GW hasn't been caught up in a modern day Satanic Panic, considering the material.

Seems odd to have it so far North.

It would make more sense to park it in Orlando, Florida.

There are a few places around with games/booze/food together. It’s not unheard of. Liquor licenses are a PITA from what I hear, but not undoable.

It does clash with the little Timmy vibe, but for cashing out on nostalgia for us old middle aged blokes? Beer me!

No, it would not. For starters, it would be competing with WDW and Universal. Secondly, Florida.

How will it "irritate" anyone? Having in-house designers isn't going to be hard nor is shipping something over to be rotated between exhibits; that's what museums all over the world do all the time. GW is hardly struggling for cash these days.

80% of the WHW exhibit is just showing off the range, with maybe 20% dioramas, most of which haven't changed in years beyond a good dusting. I like WHW, it's a good bash, but people don't go for the exhibit alone. As long as it has a good gaming hall, a store with all the trimmings, a Bugman's export and events, then it'll do exactly as well as WHW does.
