Mega rate of production as ever not online!!! Love the dark mechanicum guys, the black with the orange glow works so well. As the others have said the jet bikes are stunning
Your mega-batch paint militia project inspired me to just mega-batch my way through my remaining 100 renegades too. Great work on your armies. The blue on the alpha legion is great, and those scales are fantastic. Your painting has certainly improved since the start of the blog

Many thanks gobert. I do think i will need at some point some more Scimitars, not because they are good, but rather because from building to fielding they are fun. Maybee i'll even make a scimmi command and prateor squad.
Illumini wrote:Your mega-batch paint militia project inspired me to just mega-batch my way through my remaining 100 renegades too. Great work on your armies. The blue on the alpha legion is great, and those scales are fantastic. Your painting has certainly improved since the start of the blog
Ha only 100 ? joking of course, all of the old FW renegades type? I personally can't wait for WGA's full release of the damned, since my local FLGS sells them. I'd love to get some companions for my old FW Renegade command, if only for old times sake. Also, i kinda want to run a proto-bloodpact army and that would benefit from them.
Yeah, the AL are probably my pinnacle of painting skill, tbf, it's also now my most expensive army by far considering what i invested in it especially the FW side of it is... well...yeah. I do attempt to aim even higher this time though, especially on the vehicles and the charachters.
Yeah, the rest of the forgeworld renegades, and a bunch of converted ones from cultists and neophytes, 113 total. About to start highlighting the metal on all of them now. Nice to have them all done before I get reinforcements from WGA damned. Blood pact are really cool, my own are more Vraks styled
So, time to dust of my P&M blog... and what better way then to start with a bang i thought, after getting my last test done for my masters degree, with Alpharius.
Mistakes were made... i have used more time to bend it back in shape then i had to build the rest of the model....... for the price that GW asks it's a shame honestly. However endproduct looks awesome.

Sadly i don't yet know if i passed that one, not yet. And i will have fun painthing Alpharius or was it Omegon?
MeatShield wrote:Glad you're back. I missed your updates.
Ha far too nice.
Tommygun1918 wrote:Very dramatic looking mini, should paint up very well.
I will have to give my best.
Anyways, what Alpharius was a birthday gift some time ago, i personally wanted to go with a cataphractii praetor and 10 lernaens.
Because i really love Cataphractii and honestly in HH there's not one bad thing in the AL category from a looks standpoint. Rules wise though lernaens are on the more iffy side but considering my main opponent is salamanders nobody cares. Also i went with plasma blasters.
Good work getting the last exam out of the way. I remember it being such a relief to finally be done with exams all those years ago! Alpharius/Omegron is a great treat, and lookin forward to seeing you paint up his sons too!

Did cost a lot for shoddy mobiliar quality. Ikea but it was customisable.
IKEA furniture is certainly a crime against sanity.
Part of my job as a returning son this Christmas was building a table for my mom. She'd "started it" by which I mean put together half the parts backwards and given up.
tzurk wrote:Bob is a freakin' unit, don't mess with Bob!

Soooo much hobby progress! Great stuff.
many thanks Bob now got a friend.

mmph, devastatingly designed i say, best is when you have those customisable ones with plans for that specific part but god forbid a competent plan.
The sigil came out far better than 'okay-ish'- that's terrific!
And diggin' that metallic blue also- I did some Knights of Celedon (RAMF figures, I think?) in a similar shade but with a lesser quality paint. That metallic is good on the figures, but awesome on the vehicle.

Rock on!
Oh there will be some more vehicular goodness afterall my favourite unit is the Landraider Proteus. But first, i want to hand more specific AL units to your eyes.
30 Veterans with Banestrike bolters and fancy hoplite helmet crests.
And 20 Seekers in MK 6 which i am currently also painting.
AMAZING progress NotOnline!!! The fancy Legionnaires are super cool. Bob and his mate are really packing some firepower. Loving the black legs that some of them got as well. Can’t wait for Alpharius to join them
Syro_ wrote:Wow that's a lot of Alpha Legion. What paint(s) do you use for their main armor color?
Leadbelcher spray.
ironbreaker layer over.
Matt black from army painter for the rubber.
Akhelian green contrast paint with contrast technical 1:1
Runefang for scratches.

Are you sure Alpharius hasn't joined them already without us noticing?
Yeeeah buddy, marines are looking great. The orange crests were the perfect choice against the blue armour. Nice freehand work with the helmet, doubly impressive if you were dealing with DOMS from the work out!
tzurk wrote: Yeeeah buddy, marines are looking great. The orange crests were the perfect choice against the blue armour. Nice freehand work with the helmet, doubly impressive if you were dealing with DOMS from the work out!
Ha. Many thanks.
Here, a helmet, another hoplon and some scales on a rhino.
Fast assault: Seekers and jetbikes. Jetbikes are fully magnetised, meaning i can switch as i please.
Heavy infantry support: Rotor and Calviers. Nothing special, just like the look of volkite.
The actual Heavy support: preds got a magnetised turret. Also they are probably still my best scaling work next to the jetbike.
The Elites Veterans 30 pieces, with banestrikes and 2 x 2 melta in multi melta rhinos and 1 x 2 plasma guns.
Also behind the veterans are 30 tacs 2 x with rhino and bayonett once with nothing beyond a power sword.
My lone contemptor. He does look a bit sad. Probably need another one or 2.
And the actual meat of the army. 4 proteus and a spartan filled with terminators. 10 lerna 4 command squad cataphractii with a primus cataphracti centurion protecting my new cataphractii terminator. 10 Tartarus built in a way that i can field 2 identical equipped squads for when i want to switch contents around and a norma squad of cataphractii terminators.

Anyway, a bit of a review of the solar auxilia.
The good. The models are amazing. They look great.
The bad, yeah.
what gw doesn't tell you is that the sepearate for some reason shoulder armor has to slot in into a very small notch that is created oout of the two piece chest. For reference: The main body without the chestplate, yea the small bit that is indentented above the arm space. yeah in there you have to fit the shoulder pad.
Also the body is slightly poseable BUUUT, there's cableing kinda forcing you to fix the torso on the legs. Basically, be carefull with applying the glue, be aware of torso having an actual correct position on the leg bits. And work on the shoulderpads when you are awake and have good lighting.
Also really fragile guns, NVM the bayonetts. Basically Amazing models amazing content per sprue, but considering that there are quite the ammount of pitfalls like the shoulderpads, like the 3 point fixed guns on the sprue. AND you will see that there is severe plastic shortage because the arms are not fully flat but rather hollow, which leads to the inclination of requiring more glue which then inevitably will drip into the notch which then will make it annoying to see which in turn feths with the shooulderpad.. Yeah... Also considering it's one of the few decent options for the Solar aux armies to be fielded AND is required... and is worth 5.5 pts... you do the maths. Oh and ignore the buildplan for the pouches on the back...fix the torso first then add the pouches.,
Those men you can't turn by money or the promise of power, those are the most difficult. They are men of principle. And that is the angle you will play to make them do your wishes. Turn the principle into a tool. And watch as the principle will get washed away, perverted, turned on it's head.
Two more to go.
Also there was a sign. I once again cut myself during construction of the dracosan. Khorne it is.
Gotta tell ya: lookin' at 'em from above, the tanks remind me of the profile for the M88 armored vehicle recovery vehicle- you throw boom on the back of one of 'em and you can swap power plants under field conditions!

Now for something diffrent the Malcador.
For one, it's a plastic malcador that makes it imo an autobuy for all those that like imperial tank design regardless of 40 or 30k. Also it's my favourite tank overall, even before the proteus from a looks standpoint. (hence why i own a resin malcador that cost me literally my 3 plastic malcadors in Money.)
HOWEVER: 3 of the same side guns? NOPE you get 2 and ONLY two. So if you want like me 3 autocannons? Better keep the bits from the lemans around. An absolute dick move imo on GW's part. Then there's the turret...
I get that it is difficult to translate the glorious Resin malcador turret into plastic... But this... This is nutjobery.
Your Alpha Legion are a sight to behold! Fantastic work not online, your best looking army yet i think! Solar auxilia are coming along at your usual pace too!

Olthannon wrote:Really good updates here Not Online!!! Great progress on the Solar Auxilia
Ehh. for my taste far too slugish but what can one do.
Also that would finish off my Väterchen Rosts Heavy support. The only thing missing will be another 60 infantry and some 20 crew for the guns themselves.
Got currently a really stressfull and disatisfying situation so my progress slowed down considerably. Many thanks for the kind words though.
gobert wrote:Cool markings, are they all freehand? The symbols in their chest plates and helmets are cool. Love the chaps with the big axes too
Yes and with the eyes painted the way they are for which i need to take some pics and post them which i will do after basing, they look a bit like very angry minions.
Mad Doc Grotsnik wrote:Man the Solar Auxilia look great. Infantry, weapons, tanks, just really strong design work.
They look great, especially if you find a colour for the non grey part, buuuuuut a lot of the infantry and tanks are also PITA design for modelling, f.e. the shoulder pads on the infantry are activly sadistic, the axes are horrendous and the less stated about the turret on the plastic malcador the better.
Otoh, like you said amazing design work. Plastic malcador, plastic leman russ, and overall looks on the infantry are basically just nearly perfect.

Great looking army, an't wait to see it comlplete. Nice freehand on the tank - it's the kind of detail that makes an army memorable, and more people should have a crack at that kinda thing I reckon. Made me want to go back and see what else you have done! nice one

Tek wrote:Those are crazy! This is the first time I'm seeing those heavy sentinels and they're awesome
The small ones are positivly adorable.
Anways, some sketches for freehands i wanna do on my tanks.
Some more progress, the command tank needs its metallic red and the sentinels are close to finished, only needing basing and a wash aswell as some markings and slogans.
Those are some great looking sketches. Nice to see the whole gang gathered in one place. Also, you have a shockingly clean hobby area. My own is essentially a table covered in scraps, sprues, and sketches with paint & glue on the wings. And whatever my current focus is kinda lives on top of all that.
I guess living with a fellow crafter makes her lenient about the look of my hobby space

Trust me, if you'd see my table you'd retract that
Sentinels looking better and better. Also, maybe it's your photography space. The surface is void of debris. I don't move my stuff to a clean space to take pictures. It's no criticism, your stuff takes center stage. For me, I think it's my process that I like showing off sometimes more than my finished projects.

Judging by the colour of the Ace of Spades, it looks like the correct name should be the Aces of Spades. Perfectly normal when playing followers of chaos I suppose . Keep on tanking, they’re coming together very well

could be far more impressive actually in HH. Militia can form second line Russ squadrons up to the size of 5 / HS

blockade23 wrote:I absolutely love the scaling effect done on the LR. Gorgeous. Would look amazing on a tabletop. Makes me want to get the HH version for my guard army.
Guard isn't technically in HH yet, you have first line Solar Aux which would be closer to stormtroopers and militia which is basically PDF/ Cults /paramilitary. Both armies are fun and have good builds but require a bit more knowledge about HH 2 to get to working. Overall if you got an itch that is closer to oldschool wargame warhammer it doesn't take much to pull over an IG army and run them as militia to get your feet wet.
Anways, Grey layered the dracosans with demolishers and started scaling.

They do, but with the paint, they get quite sturdy.
Thallax are a right pain in the ass in regards to parts. However solidly to build together. If you can do new infantry like cadians these are no issue

The Kits are 21cm Mörser 16 from takom. To be precise the new version, with a lot of the fidlier bits left away. A Cheaper and more detailed alternative to GW.
Love the artillery crews and the work. Reminds me of the old GW battle report where the artillery crews were on one table and the main battle on another.

For my Militia/ R&H, which is now completely finished. (well actually it isn't, someone gave me a malcador infernus )
Also, onto finishing my Dark Mech army.
As you can see, metal dark is done on the thralls, the servo automata and auxilia magos have already brass and black cloth.
