Shuffle on to the RP at Salopia Row if you're not rezzed before you next have AP. The Station is not a RP and survivors are well within their rights to KOS you. Save your and their AP by trying to end your undead day on a designated RP.
16876
Post by: BlueDagger
I did, but sat on them for 2+ days with no rez. I figure this way either A) I get combat rezed or B) a survivor gets some easy XP
16387
Post by: Manchu
XP is not easy or difficult when it comes to fighting Zack. It's really a matter of AP. Every AP spent killing a friendly is one less fighting the enemy. The XP thing doesn't make up for it. A survivor also gets XP from fighting the real foe. Meanwhile, you die just to get up again as a full health zed and the whole wasteful cycle repeats. A better use of your own AP is life culting against enemy zeds (you can tell that they're enemies because they're not on RPs) or, in the case of getting fed up with an inactive RP, shuffling for the next-closest RP. Combat revives are a waste of 10AP to execute and who knows how many more AP from finding the needle. Needles are for friendlies only.

Combat revives just make death cultists who are arguably worse than zombies...

Yes, poor planning on my part that. But I managed to set up a generator and fuel it at the neighboring NT building so that we will have a supply of needles. I suggest that all Support Team members stock up.
Also, be aware that we'll face as much trouble proportionately from Death Cultists as from the horde itself. I can confirm that the one known as "Afterbirth Smoothie," discussed before in this thread, is active in the area.

Some of the things zombies/death cultist can do in this game are really frustrating. Pinataing just feels like a damn exploit.

Just logged back in and I'm still alive. Success! Going to head over to Vinetown, next door, see if I can find anything and then try to mosey on over to Chudleyton.
Will probably set up an Alt too, help get some experience...
Just looked up GK'ing, Manchu, and it said some people do it "even for no good reason at all." Hmmmm?
I assume I can search in one place multiple times btw?
Also, Grakmar, you said I should join a group - are there any in particular or benefits, or are the Dakkanauts in one?
16387
Post by: Manchu
Yeah you can pour all of your AP in to searching one location if you like. The Dakka group is called the Augarde Irregulars. The benefits of being in a group are ... well, it's what actually makes the game fun. The game has little in the way of internal goals. It's really just what you make of it, externally. There are a few large survivor groups and zombie hordes you can join. Our group is not one of the larger ones -- although it is large enough to show up on the game's stats page. I have three characters: my survivor in Chud, in the Augarde Irregulars, and my two older characters. One is unaligned, generally working for the well being of Vinetown and the other is a member of the Ridleybank Resistance Front. For whatever reason, the mythology has grown up over the years that Ridelybank might have been the epicenter of the infection. Many zombies therefore consider Ridelybank to be "the Homeland" and work to keep it in ruins. It's funny because the tables are really turned there. As a survivor, you're always afraid of the zombies breaking into your safehouse and killing you. In the Homeland, you're always worried that survivors ("harmanz" in zed parlance) are going to infiltrate the burb and start -- gasp -- rebuilding things. A lighted building in Ridleybank is a total affront to zedkind. As a survivor, you band together with others to push back the crisis and preserve/rebuild pre-infection human society. Neighborhoods like Vinetown are pretty safe thanks to committed survivors who have worked there for years. ATM, you could spend the night on the streets in Vinetown for a week and probably not get killed. Of course, some horde or another will make its way through, destroying everything. And that's fun for survivors. If either "side" (as if it were that simple) ever won the game would be terribly boring. When I started playing again, I noticed that Malton was overrun with survivors and so went zed with my highest level character. It can be fun to have a survivor and a zed alt for this reason. But you want to keep them far apart on the map. Not only is it good manners but if your alts are close together, your chances of successfully attacking or finding items goes down.
20867
Post by: Just Dave
Why the name Augarde Irregulars? And why Chudleyton?
Either way, I've just joined it with my main character. I'm already a bit bored of just wandering, so I'm gonna forget Vinetown and head on over. Feel I should probably try to help, so is there anything you guys want me to try and do/obtain on the way there? Fuel or somesuch?
I'm not really interested in the whole zombie side to be honest (that said, I love being a zombie in Halo's Infection), so my alt (I'm getting in on the lingo!) is a survivor too. I guess I might see what the deal is in Ridleytown with him, whilst my main heads on over to Chudley. So they should be pretty far apart too.
In one go, my alt (a Firefighter) has killed a (already crippled, I admit) zombie, found another radio and 2 flare guns! My main character has however shot at a zombie and missed, found a pistol clip (by repeatedly searching, thanks Manchu!) and that's it...
Thanks for the info Manchu, the wiki's not very newbie-friendly I'm finding...

Post by: Manchu
When some Dakkanauts first stepped up to play, I suggested we have a group goal: take and defend the Pitman Mansion in Quarlesbank. So we all convened there, only to find that the only thing going on in town was us getting PK'd by somebody who ahd already claimed the mansion. So I further suggested we head south to see some anti-zed action -- and therefore be able to earn XP to level up. I chose Chudleyton because of Caiger Mall, which is a perennial target for any and all zombie hordes, especially because the largest active horde (the Dead) is headquartered very close by. We took our name from our first meetup/base, the Auguarde Street Police Department in Quarlesbank ... hence calling ourselves the Augarde Street Irregulars. There is a vague hope that we will one day return to Quarlesbank and drive out the PKer ... but things are a little too fun in the Chud right now, what with the mall falling every month. Please ask any and all questions you might have. There's no point trying to search through this thread now, at 67 pages. We don't need a specific point to hunker down. But I would suggest people using the Wasteland right above St Basil's as our RP if we do get pushed outta the Chud. KamikazeCanuck wrote:Manchu wrote:KamikazeCanuck wrote:The Walking Dead taught me to trust no one so I told him nothin'
I would encourage you not to tell people that we have a secret forum.
Why?
Because the natural response is to do a google search and immediately find our secret forum.

Crap, go this too late. Currently swaying south of St. Luke's.
They also tried to make Cuthbert into a Pinata, "woke" up with 4 other Zeds barricaded in. Brought them down.

Need one in Cuthbert.

I have a gen and fuel in cuthbert, just need two AP so I can deploy them. And it's done. Now Kenefie needs its gen still.

Already GK'd. One zed left there, at 20 some HP.

Killed the zombie in Cuthbert and barricaded it to VHB. Automatically Appended Next Post: Barricades were brought down and a zombie infected me.
Need a heal.

I'm dead, need a rez. I might have to combat rez those zombones if I find newbies in them, to slow them down.

Combat revving is never the answer. Where are you atm?
29408
Post by: Melissia
It's an answer if it prevents noob zombies from doing as much damage.
I'm south of st lukes

Noob zombies aren't exactly prevalent...

Needles take too much AP to find and use to waste them on the enemy. Think of your comrades first.
Gotcha, btw.
29408
Post by: Melissia
Well yes, I am using them on allies first. But needles are easy to get. I have had extra needles for over a month.

Post by: Manchu
Combat revving also makes enemies and encourages death cultists.
27391
Post by: purplefood
Yeah Death Cultists is the biggest problem I have with it...
29408
Post by: Melissia
That's only really a problem if you target enemies that have free running.
27391
Post by: purplefood
Most of them probably would.
Also you can't really choose who to target unless they're on your contacts list...
16387
Post by: Manchu
In any case, it's up to your conscience and the circumstances. I feel obligated to point out that combat revving is first and foremost a dumb and wasteful action whenever the issue comes up. Whether it has a worthwhile application in extremely particular circumstances is beside the point.

Who relies on their conscience to play a game?
16387
Post by: Manchu
My dear purplefood, the whole world is one kingdom and conscience is king.
27391
Post by: purplefood
Well then...
The king died a while ago and since then everything has either spontaneously exploded or burst into flames...
I consider myself somewhat of a moral person but in video games i tend to just try to kill as many people as i possibly can... allies included.
Same with tabletop gaming actually...

Post by: Manchu
I try not to waste my time no matter what I'm doing, including playing games.
27391
Post by: purplefood
Well i find the best way to not waste time is to simply rinse everyone on sight. I end up doing it anyway and this way i don't have to listen to them whine about stuff...
16387
Post by: Manchu
"Rinse" lol.
Even so, you're on a team partner! Rinse Zack. All survivors are our brothers and sisters.
27391
Post by: purplefood
This is a zombie apocalypse. If i rinse you guys i get nommed on by our decomposing neighbours...
It would be less than beneficial to my health...
16387
Post by: Manchu
Dude, that kind of thinking means Zack wins. When we're down to only cooperating because it's in our individual best interest then society has truly crumbled. (This is the IRL problem in the USA with libertarians, by the way ... I guess that explains why zombie stuff is so popular here.) Zack may tear down our cades and ruin our buildings -- but Zack can never be allowed to tear down our ethics and ruin our spirits!
27391
Post by: purplefood
The only ethics that should come with spirits are the ones that stop people from putting anti-freeze in the spirits...
It's not that i want you guys to die. I just really don't want me to die. I'll take a few hits for the team and all but i dislike getting nommed on in the worst way. Automatically Appended Next Post: Incidentally, what kind of contact are we having with other survivor groups?
16387
Post by: Manchu
Just cooperation. No formal alliances or the like. We aren't a top-down hierarchy. We don't have or need a leader. Other groups are really into that sort of thing -- negotiating alliances and managing other players ... can be tiresome.
27391
Post by: purplefood
Just checking, some groups tend to get a bit...
Pushy... followed by shooty...

Melissia wrote:Manchu wrote:In any case, it's up to your conscience
What is that?
In the depths of his conscience, man detects a law which he does not impose upon himself, but which holds him to obedience. Always summoning him to love good and avoid evil, the voice of conscience when necessary speaks to his heart: do this, shun that. For man has in his heart a law written by God; to obey it is the very dignity of man; according to it he will be judged.

I'd wager that we wouldn't have quite as many death cultists wrecking generators if we weren't combat rezzing them, since it's much easier to get into buildings using free running than chewing through barricades.
Just putting that out there.
