For those of you who made your own clan, chapter or craftworld; what did you name them (inspired by the "baneblade names" post).
I'll start it off,
Orks: Da forty Thieves
Chaos (nurgle): The Leper Kings
Tau: don't have one yet...
Btw: Being my first post, i apologize if this is in the wrong place.

I call my Space Marines chapter "Iron Griffons."
I make use of the Raptors Iconography.
They aren't an offshoot of the Raptors. I just really REALLY liked their imagery. It's exactly what I had pictured in my head for the army (It's Bike and transport heavy).
My CSM I call... "Chaos Space Marines," since I rarely ever play the same thing twice.

I sold my other stuff. My Space Marine Commander was named Force Commander Earl Grey, because, well, I drink so much of the stuff. haha :p
My old nid army was called Hivefleet Sunstrike since apparently really gakky yellow painted tyranids was a good idea at the time.

My Necrons are known as the Procyon Elite.
The army includes a surplus of immortals and I tend to capitalize on my elite choices rather than on the flying circus bots. In fact, depending on the point limits for the game, the army can include more immortals than it has warriors!
The fluff behind the army is that they were one of the earliest groups of necrontyr that were converted into the necrons on the planet of Procyon. (Fictional planet that I made up as a tribute to star control 2, not sure if it exists in the normal WH40K fluff)
The army is lead by two necron lords, an immortal-lord and a warrior-lord and tries to focus on a "upper-class" / "lower-class" ranking system. The army doesn't have any Pariahs yet as rules wise they are pretty bad, but I've been toying with the idea that the tomb world's pariahs are a mixture of parts from lower-class warriors and upper-class immortals that contain the nearly exhausted life-energies / souls / whatever of creatures bearing the pariah-gene, and thus are outcast by both the warrior-caste and immortal-caste of the tomb world. Destroyers and Heavy Destroyers are seen as specialized immortals, and everything else is seen as lower-class necrons or mindless servant drones.
The army is dedicated to the deciever, as is to be expected of an army that displays a disturbing amount of human emotions and ideas and is somewhat of an objection to the popular consensus that necrons are thoughtless, mindless killing machines. Instead, the Procyon Elite are a legion of desperate necrontyr entombed in their necrodermi who still retain some sense of who they are. They use whatever mental ability they have left to fight for the Deciever, as it has made a false promise to them that once they've quenched the God's thirst, they shall be released from their eternal prison.
Not the most original idea and it butchers some of the necron fluff, but it does bring some personality to the army and I like it. Just be glad that I don't expect them to talk and all like the necrons in Dark Crusade...

Post by: Mannahnin
My elder come from home-brewed Craftworld Maen-Lir, and the army is the Host of Mannah’nin. Mannah’nin is my Farseer, a phonetic misspelling of the Irish god of the sea. The fluff was that it’s an isolated craftworld which just recently started interacting with the Imperium. They still worship the old Eldar gods, and the fluff was a mix of 2nd Ed Eldar fluff and ancient Irish cosmology.
My Dark Angels are Task Force Nemesis; an expeditionary force devoted to hunting down the Fallen on the edge of the Eye of terror. All the regular marines are provisional Deathwing inductees, who will be fully inducted if they survive the mission. The character names are mostly classical angels or archangels.
My Slaaneshi CSM are the Sons of Degradation.

My old Blue Marines were the Blue Vipers. They are dead to me now.
My Guard army preceded the Inquisition armies by a bit, hence the backstory of "Von Dekkar's Elite" being they were an Inquisitor's private army of elites from regiments across the galaxy he was assembling to destroy his heretic master, a man well know for his ability to raise armies of his own.
My Space Marines, hailing as they do from the Planet Krieg, can only be know as the Kriegmarines.

The Bestial Warband of Chaos Lord Therian (750)
An army of beastmen who where turned into chaos marines by Fabius Bile to replace the losses incured by a Black Legion Chaos Lord named Therian (which is latin of beast). Therian didn't know Bile would use beastmen when the deal was made though.
The Eternal Legion (750)
Necrons

Orks obsessed with Bionik upgrades. The clan is led by a cybork warboss and a big mek who is in charge of Da Scrappas. Based out of an trash world.

The Order of the Sapphire Blade is on a crusade around a world to the galactic north of the Maelstrom warp storm. They are effectively attempting to create and maintain a sphere of stable, defensible systems around a forgeworld which holds the "Sapphire Blade" power sword STC.
The Umaran 371st Combined Regiment is remnants of a planet which was declared exterminatus. In my background, they contain several different kinds of companies, including five infantry companies, two armored companies, three sentinel companies, and three artillery companies, along with two support companies which include cooks, the techpriests and assistants, and other types of support staff conscripted from the surviving civilians of the world's population.
Groknar Skullsplitta's Waaagh! is a mixed Deff Skullz / Blood Axez warband, with a Warboss who used to be a Kommando before he got designs of ruling an entire Waaagh! of his own. He now threatens an area of space along the Tau and Ultramar borders.

Daemon Prince - Spineripper the Unspeakably Brutal
Chaos Lord - Slaygor Slortenson, aka that guy with the huge axe

and on the Daemon side -
Greater Daemon - Zarag'Throt the Harvester of Skulls
Herald of Khorne - Evil Barry the Soulflayer
Other Herald of Khorne - Ivarr the Eviscerator, aka the Arisen - famous for committing suicide with his own bloodfeeder during a battle, which the blood god thought was quite entertaining.

Space Marines: The Black Patrol (their fluff is vaguely Redwall based, and the name Black Patrol sounds more 40kish than The Long Patrol. Their main color is also black, with a small bit of red, on parts such as knees and shoulders, and the eyes. Dey Has the Bloodwrathz!)

Though I have yet to paint a single model,
The Bone Vultures- a rogue SM chapter descended from the Blood Angels. They are characterized by spontaneous mutation in their death companies, the resulting abomination is vaguely bird like. A similar mutation occurs in all of the chapter librarians however the librarians are able to keep their sanity after their transformation while those in the death companies require constant attention from the chapter’s chaplains to keep them from harming their battle brothers.

My space marines are up in the air ATM namewise.
Tears of Arcana, due to their belief that as choas bombed their planet, it wept their chapter to defend, driving off the chaos space marines or
Astral Serpents, A group of clan-like space marines who show a great reverance of librarians. Their world became a solid block of Ice towards the end of the heresy, recently unfroze. The chapter is currently devastated by the loss of infantry, and dreadnoughts are quite common. Live in a lush jungle paradise, in the mountains. Surrounded by corpse chocked wasteland of ice.
Dark eldar
Kabal of the bloodied shadows, the name relates on how Archon Diablos led her coup'de grace!
They hire wyches from the cult of shattering

I also occasionally run a counts-as-deathwing force called the White Hats (their name was given to them by the local guardsmen)
