they both do pretty well, allthough they to tend to become an early target.
got 3 more comming soon.

And while we're talking about Warbosses, here's my Bad Moon Warboss:
And a "counts as" warboss, a Pain Boy experiment gone wrong. If you're on the wrong side of his claw that is

Wow there are some great models here I really like Delkins Wazdakka and Vypers Orks especially the old Games Day Nob. Here's my own offerings I'm much more of a modeller than a painter.
First of all my Slaver conversion, just a basic boy with a green-stuffed cowboy hat and a lasso
I just like the pose on this basic boy. It's nothing special I just like him.
This Big Shoota conversion is another one I just like.
I've also enjoyed converting these two Ork Nobs
These guys have been great fun to convert up. I've done 5 but I'm only showing one here. There from the Black Reach Terminators and random parts from my bitz box. I've also got a WIP warboss in the same style coming on.
I also have the mandatory Black Reach Dreadnaught conversion
Theres more images of him in my gallery. I regularly play against Dark Angels.......

Ya, I learned alot about scratch building and weathering with hose vehicles. Im jsut really BITTER about my looted russ getting turned into a rhino with a battle cannon option.
My buggies lost their rams and ability to tank shock with upgrades too. *sighs* I used to tank shock units of marines off the table with a 65 pt buggy....ram leman russes with a s6 hit to the rear armor...the good ole days.
Now I have to build Battlewagons(or in my case squiggoths) with Deff Rollas to do that sort of mayhem. But I guess its an excuse to bash together bigger models!

Field it as a "counts as" BW w/ kill kannon, ard top, and reinforced ram. That way the armour is closer to accurate, you can tank shock, etc. Works perfect that way and I'd have no problem playing you or anyone else that wanted to do that...
15894
Post by: Mistress of minis
Im not sure a russ is big enough to work as a BW, doesnt have any real access points either...but I havent read the 'counts as rules' so Im not sure if that even matters

Mistress of minis wrote:Im not sure a russ is big enough to work as a BW, doesnt have any real access points either...but I havent read the 'counts as rules' so Im not sure if that even matters
BW with Ard top and kill kannon loses it's transport ability. You don't want a looted Russ to have transport ability becasue a Russ has none.
That combo of wargear on a BW perfectly simulates a looted/orkified Leman russ... (armour is right, ordnance main gun, tank shock ability, no transport, etc., etc.) Perfect fit.

(armour is right, ordnance main gun, tank shock ability, no transport, etc., etc.) Perfect fit. I think you might be confused. A kill kannon lowers the transport capacity of a battlewagon to 12. I don't think the 'Ard Case affects transport capacity. Unless I'm reading the codex wrong. A BW with a KK can't be taken as a dedicated transport option, maybe that's what you're thinking of? VVV Or that. VVV
15894
Post by: Mistress of minis
Killcannon on a BW reduces cap to 12, a 'ard top reduces to 5 fire points and 3 access hatches.
I think you got it mixed up with a looted vehicle- upgrading to the battle cannon on those does remove their transport capacity Automatically Appended Next Post: And down side #2, it actually costs more than a leman russ, and gets a weaker gun. S7 vs S10 for the same range.

Really you dont have to. Orks do come in different colors. The SUPER old school Orcs were brownish. LOTR Orcs are brownish. Also according to fluff the way they are made, the environment could easily change the color of their skin. Personally tho, I like the green skin better.

Yeah and the LOTR Orcs turn jet black once they're exposed to direct sunlight if I remember correctly. Most of the pictures of fungi I've looked at through Google are in the Red/Orange/Brown range but real fungus grows in just about any color of the rainbow and I've been able to find striking examples of all of them. Why not Orks? (Of course, I like green Orks best as well) CT GAMER wrote:GoFenris wrote:Mistress of minis, I really like you're Ork vehicles! The looted ones look great! Very Orky! I've still got one left to go, a biker with nothing but his cybork body, but I thought it was time to post my Nob Biker group with warboss in side car. I would like any critique you may have on the painting, but please couple it with tips on how to improve or techniques I may be leaving out/unkowledgeable about.
All nobs have actual Nob Torsos and some of the nobs are even the nobs from the nob box. I have a torso, as well as a finished bike, just need to prime and paint the boy.
All nobs aslo have cybork bodies. I tried to use a few of the cybork heads to represent this.
In addition my warband is a mix of Bad Moons and Evil Sunz (The Bad Sunz) nand as such the warboss and waaagh banner has the Zag of the bad moonz and the Bosspole has the sun of the evil sunz on it.

The Metallic read is actually a Reaper paint (I know, shame on me) stock number 18110. It's kind of a bitch to paint with though because it's a really thin paint and looks pink if you put it on direct. You really need to put down a layer of Boltgun metal for it to come out right. I also drybrushed it on the warboss' bike to give it a more metallic look, but I'm really not good at drybrushing. I always seem to have either too much or too little paint on the brush.
As for the roudned bases, those are the stock bases which came with the bikes. I wish I had the confidence in my conversion skill to modify the bike bodies themselves but that may be a task for my second nob biker group, that or a bunch of converted AOBR Deffkoptas, I can't decide.

Been looking through the thread to get some ideas for my renegade tanks (ork spikes are so nice!) and I just loved the looted Vanquisher made into a battlewagon. Was epic!
I've only painted one Ork in my life (I still have pretty much all of the Orks that came with the 2nd edition box unpainted) and here it is:
Was made by Dakka member ChaosBubbles but I needed an Ork for a Facebook competition so I managed to 'liberate' it for the event.
My girlfriend loves to paint Orks as they're great for doing skin tones on. She's only painted a handful of miniatures and only started a short while ago and she has already won some prizes (She came first in a Beginner comp with a Chaos Gothic Marine).
She won third place against some very seasoned painters with this one. It's her tenth mini.
This is her latest Ork completed.
Needless to say, I am quite proud of her and she puts my painting to shame :(

Infiltrator: Those models are amazing but there is one point of critique. Grab a pin vice and drill out your gun barrels. Then your amazing models will be amazing +1!!! I really does add a lot to have the barrels drilled, looks more realistic.

Here is my first painted ork vehicle. I'm glad I started on something small. The bike was lots of fun to paint and I developed a few techniques to make it look better IMO. After doing the mud wash it was still missing something so I decided to try battle damage. I have never been a huge fan of rust. No proppa ork would allow his weapons to get rusty. They break much sooner than that. This was my first attempt at damage (also Hardlining?). I think it came out pretty ace.
PS. for some reason I always get excited about getting a model painted and forget to drill the barrels before the pics. oh well.

A wash won't work on gore here is my recipe for convincing gore beastial brown red gore blood red then a red ink it must be ink or it will take a lot of coats of paint.

I guess that depends on how you imagine the force field comes out from . My originates from the front radar dish thingy and its hard wired into the suit.
The glowing tube dangling behind is like plug for recharging.

Luna your pretty damned gifted and consistent on your models. You got a pic of your normal bread and butter unit ork boyz? Curious. Right now though its been awhile since I updated any of my pics, my bosses are coming out great but my normal ork boy is giving me hell. Been doing a silver black instead of white black goff clan. I have no idea what to color the undershirt, boots and pants. Been leaving them just black. Its driving me up a goff'in wall. If I do leave them black what do I dry brush / paint / wash / etc... to highlight them as black clothing?

Here is my Deff Dread. My boyz have nicknamed him BigGob MekStompyFoot Killington. It is one of my first paint jobs in almost 10 years. Be gentle, but don't hold back on C&C. Low res / WIP pics High Res Closeup Pics You can find more pics in my gallery. Model details: It is 3 inches tall from static foot to shoulder, and 6 inches from the pincer to the saw Wysiwyg Armor Plates Skorcha with 3 DCCW: The pincer, the buzz saw, and the stompy-killy foot Oh, and the eyes light up. Now I feel compelled to do the same for all of my walkers. LEDs FTW! Painting Details: Simple paint job of silver craft paint drybrushed over OSH primer Rust is simply hand mixed orange highlights The pauldrons used for the hips are from Ultramarines and Angry Marines. The angry pauldron (lol) has inverted coloring, due to the gigantic bloody saw next to it. Red next to red threw it off a bit... DCCW are splashed with blood, as are all of my orks' combat weapons. This is for clarity in battle. I am intending on using a lot of... Unconventional weapons for my themed army. I haven't revealed the theme yet, but I will, soon. At the end of the month... Fluff: Back on planet Angelis (home world for my army), this exoskeleton was to aid Mekboys in the construction of Gorkamorka. The main chassis was found by the Diggas, and was eventually turned into "konstrukshun armah" when traded to Mekboy MekGubbinz (my Big Mek). It used the pincer to lift and place girders, the buzz saw to cut them to the proppa length, then the skorcha to weld them in place. Spikes were added to the feet when the armor was recommissioned by Da Boss for war. Being that the diggas live around and below the ruins of a few Necron Monoliths, I wanted to really invoke a Necron vibe with this thing, yet keep it nice and Orky. That is why the main chassis is not rusted, yet the face resembles fantasy Black Orcs (which I use bits from in my army, so the vibe is consistent).

°Bak war Pak Boi:
Another one royally fethed by the same sod painter that ruined the "Cruiza"

Wow thanks KingCracker I use it as a big mek with kff then either take a power klaw or a burna depending on who i'm facing. I got the idea from my friends' techmarine in a servo harness.

I love the Glass eye on grimsnagga. those are some of the best looking and craziest orks I've seen.
here are some of mine. touch ups and finishing touches will be done right before bases. right now I'm just trying to field my army. 12 shoota boys done are not pictured yet.
