Please, please, someone point out what this is for?
I recall seeing a thread once about "Hello Kitty" Space Marines, very funny, cleverly done, and patently tongue in cheek.
This is pap about girly toy horsies. Contributors really need to go out, drink beer ( not that gnats' water Americans call beer either,) and build more tanks.
IG GENERAL wrote:Please, please, someone point out what this is for?
The purpose is obvious; a thread where fans of the television show My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic can discuss it and related topics.

I'm confused as to how any of this is mutually exclusive with watching a TV show.
If you want to put in the effort there are instructions posted on EQD to get the hair on the toys to look much more like that of the cartoons.
I've seen a few with hair cuts and they dont look too bad but still, it would be nice to have a rainbow dash figure that looks like rainbow dash XD might have a go at sculpting come to think of it...
finished watching season 1 and I have to say it was great ^^ there was the odd bad episode here and there but over all I really liked it
Good evening gentleman,
( and ladies if you are reading )
It is a late Friday night and as I
sit here mindlessly surfing the web I
have to ask why? Asking why is something
I am very fond of doing.
But first and foremost I do not despise you.
I am only intolerant of those who are intolerant of
other people or those who find the internet a
wonderful excuse to act like ass. My etiquette most likely
stems from my parents. One them being Hispanic and the
other German. And I was born in California, go figure. Also
I am not some young sod spouting off nonsense, I have
worked and am currently back in college.
I just wish to ask why you gentleman ( and ladies if
you are reading this ) are so fond of this genre? I watched
a bit of an episode and was not smitten by it.
And my greatest question, why was this show created for
a supposedly young female audience, but then there are many hints
towards other films and media? Would that not imply they created it
for the fathers or mothers of their daughters?
Now as I leave you all with the end of my rant I will say I enjoy theoretical
violence. I have never violently attacked another human being. But I do find
fictional violence and war to be entertaining even though I am well aware of the
value of human life, and so do many of you fans of MLP as I imagine you
are on this forum because you like at least something games workshop is doing. So
even though I am an androgynous fellow ( yet I like sporting a moustache go figure )
why do you enjoy this show?
Hopefully curiosity will not get me killed this time. Cause I found, goodness what was that
pink horses name, getting torn in half by a dread amusing. Mainly cause it is nonsensical, ah well.
Im not sure why i like it. Im not sure why i like Doctor who or Stargate or Startrek.
Im not sure why i like Warhammer40k or building Minies
Im not sure why cant go to sleep w/o my dog for fear of ghosts.
All i know s i do.
You can ask the same of anime fans or any fans.
Im not sure why i like it(other then at this age there arnt many talking animal shows that dont make me feel stupid) but i know i do.

For the second bit,
"You're dead if you aim only for kids. Adults are only kids grown up, anyway." - Walt Disney
Children's shows and movies have a rich heritage of including nods to other media that no child would recognize.
Plus, kids don't buy merchandise, parents do. And if a parent can glean some amount of enjoyment from the show, all the better for sales.
As to why... everybody will tell you something different. For me, well, there are a lot of reasons. It's bright, it's colorful, and for something made with Flash, extremely well done. The writing is good, the dialogue is entertaining, the stories are beyond what you would expect from a kid's show, the jokes are genuinely funny and the writers never shirk from a terrible pun. The characters have traits that define them and believable flaws that they have to deal with and that color their interactions.
I like it because everything is so well made (the polts, characters, the jokes etc), it makes me smile and its really enjoyable/relaxing to just sit back and watch.
even the songs are well made unlike most childrens shows. I even found myself huming to winter wrap up and at the gala the other day ^.^
Watched both this and last weeks episodes today, found the latest one better than last weeks.
But I too was wondering why I watched a show aimed primarily at little girls; after watching the show again today, I knew exactly why I watch, and enjoy, every minute of the show. Exactly the same reason I play Warhammer and frequent this forum: because I love every minute of it.
Arkenon wrote:

For one, It's fun because it's one of the few pieces of fiction I enjoy that doesn't revolve around blasting somebody else out of existence.
Ahem: you gotta watch the full episode, the very first one at that.
Arkenon wrote:I have never violently attacked another human being.
What the hell kind of Tyranid are you?
Just watched this week's episode. SO CUTE. Season 2 may very well be better than Season 1 despite the lessened roll of Lauren Faust.
kamakazepanda wrote:Thank you for being civil and constructive Fabricator, i feel for you having to endure previous generations of the show.
Out of interest have you seen any of the episodes?
Honestly can't say that I have. I didn't even know there was a new/contiuning show on. I just remember that evil theme song and trying to blow up poney land. Things where so much simpler when my biggest decision of the day was wether or not to stick a firecracker in one of the poneys or not. He-Man also got hit with artillery fire in the form of firecrackers taped/glued to them then ignited.
May I ask what a brownie is? It looks like someone who like's/liked MLP? Is that close to the mark? Maybe a male MLP fan?
As I understand it, the pony thing got started on /b/, and the term /b/rony was made to reference the fans there. Then it changed to just brony being an older male fan and the audience spread from those board. Anymore i think it's just more any fan outside the target audience, including the older female crowd as well as the male.
Yes of course you can ask. lots of people have. And yes the women are reading.
I like the show because it is well written, animated well, the characters are infectous, plots are decent, and the songs are catchy.
I watched the show first because I was curious to know what they had managed to do with it, since I played with the ponies as a little girl. Most other shows based on toys aimed primarilly at girls have been crap.
I learned something crucial. Painting horses(especially white) is hard hard hard hard. Did i mention hard? Dont forget it is hard.
But i think it turned out.....ok.
Barring the cutie mark and a wash of the saddle it is done.
I believe i posted this link a few pages back, but thanks for the contribution.
sorry, here's one I haven't seen yet. The GOOD version of pinkie pie / rainbow dash making cupcakes, as a parody of the epic meal time videos on youtube.
Automatically Appended Next Post: mustered up the energy to put rainbow dash into some power armour (counts as commander with Artifacer armour, bike, relic blade)
I still need to add some more to the armour but you get the idea of where I'm going with this ^_^

From what I'm told, no, the person who made the video has never read Cupcakes. It may however be coincidentally a similar end result. Should give it a watch still, it's really morbidly funny. Very "Happy Tree Friends".

Have fun. Painting an MLP army or model is fun.
Yeah I just have to figure out how on earth I'm going to get enough paint with out bankrupting my self to paint the Warlord Titan.
My Luna's Legion painting is almost about to start, I have the models assembled. I will even be painting a Warlord Titan
awesome, cant wait to see it ^_^ as far as paint goes you can pick up spray cans pretty cheep for undercoats. I'd recomend getting an airbrush or the GW airgun rather than painting it on
Use blood, mix it with some black paint
I dont think that blood and black paint would be a good idea.....unless you bleed rainbows and even then black paint wouln't help much :3

I'm going to use my airbrush for SOME parts, but considering the amount of people who told me how rare Warlord Titans are I'm going to make sure I get as much detail in as possible. Btw the Titan was a gift as well, and I got it by promising the owner a good home a paint job for it . I'm going to put Luna Purity seals on the arms as well, as I loved the ones on the Warlord Titan in Warhammer 40k: Space Marine.
I haven't seen much of it, but I've liked it : P I've always like the spongebob/FHFIF kind of humor for adults. My wife didn't want to watch it with me, but I've now learned that it was made by the same person as fosters.. and she LOVED that to death. I have a feeling that when I get home we'll be watching some of season 1 : P
BTW, best place to watch still youtube? Anywhere else I can watch in better quality? (or DL it)

To be honest, I'm surprised that this thread has lasted as long as it has. It's gotten quite out of hand before, verging into some really dark territory, but the mods were content to wipe away the bad and leave the thread intact. I know MLP threads on many other forums face intense scrutiny, with locks and bans waiting if they post a single thing out of line.
So, my sincerest thanks for the mods, for taking such a bizarre thread in stride and ruling over it with an even hand.

Huh, just double checked and it's cheaper than I remember. $14 for international (I think last time I checked I didn't see the alternative to the $59.89 UPS charge ), could be worse I suppose.
For you in the US it'll be cheaper I guess (not familiar with the postal charges for inside your crazy big country ).
Swara wrote:That's still REALLY expensive for a already 25 dollar shirt : (
Works out at £25 total after conversion from dollars to GBP, quite a bit but I've bought a few t-shirts from bands I've seen on tour which cost more than that.
And who can put a price on the coolness, awesomeness and radicalness that would come from having a Rainbow 'Danger' Dash t-shirt?

It was made to be a show that children could watch with their parents without their parents needing to use pills to endure it. So you get the sly nods to the older people who the creators expect will end up having to watch it because their child does.
A personal favourite of mine was a The Big Lebowski reference in a bowling alley in which you see four of the characters from that film in pony form (The Dude, Jesus, Walter and Donny). The Big Lebowski is totally unsuitable for the child target demographic so the only reason to put it in there is because a) Lauren Faust is a huge fan (she did also reference it in Foster's Home For Imaginary Friends) and b) You know parents/older people be watching so throw them something they'll be able to laugh at without their child.
Add to that great characters (even if they're only in it for 2 episodes *cough*Discord*cough*) and you've got something I'm quite happy to sit down and watch.
There's a few shirts I want to get off of We Love Fine but Ive not really got the budget for $25 shirts right now sadly. I was hoping to get some of Xmas but no luck.
The first few pages of this thread are hilarious, considering that this is a forum for people who like to play with toy soldiers. It's a perfect example of the geek hierarchy flowchart in action.
Oh thank god. My mini is done completly done ready to take pictures

Well that's just silly! Spike can't be Best Pony on account that he's not a pony. He's a Vampire!
He's a pony vampire.
Well I wanted to find a good picture of an annoyed Spike doing a raised eyebrow thing, but instead I found this, so I suppose I'll have to let you have your point.
Seconded that we need a banner. or at least an emblem or somesuch.
Don't tell the Sinking feeling squad, but I prefer this thread by the tiniest, tiniest little amount. If any of you are reading this, it;s because of the "CoD is not respectable" comment. You guys were talking about Halo. Neither are really respectable.
OT, you all spelt Twilight Sparkle wrong. Clearly needed to be rectified as best pony.

I was already under their grasp. I think I didn't want to be associated with the bronies here until they established a decent sized cult. So I trolled. Also, I like your avatar. It seems to be showing a slight disgust towards mine as if I am a troll and mine is just smiling.
new to the pony thred, CURSE YOU INTERNET!!!!, but yes i also like the ponies my faverioute is Rainbow Dash (as she is 20% cooler than all other ponies). this is wierd though as i did not know there were this many bronies.
I need more Dashie in my life, i may need help but ow well i can go without

There are more than you think. : P
Friends came over to play 40k saturday, they walked in and said what's up and I responded "Watching my little pony". A couple gave me strange looks like I was kidding, another took his hand and said "Give me some hoof". /)^3^(\
Fortunately no one rags on the 6'5" powerlifter for watching MLP, not sure why.
the weird thing is that in the town where i live there are not many bronies (mainly because 80% of the population is either slowed or forign) i know 2 bronies personaly but thats about it and everyone who finds out about bronies either ignores it or instantly hates.
A religion that actualy spreads love and tollerance, sounds like it could work. we could elect a pony pope so there will be a my little popey (bad pun) hey you never know we may convert a few jedi

Maybe a few fringe Jedi, but the bulk of the Order is still stuck on Odan-Urr's butchery of the Old Code. They'd never allow something like friendship to sway them from their path.

Now i have to explain to my family why im crying. And they know when i lie. And its all your fault lol.
And once again, a demonstration of the sheer speed of the Brony community- A pony that was only seen (no lines, even!) in a single episode, doing nothing more than accompanying another, now has a personality, background, name and fanbase. I wouldn't be surprised to see a story incorporating her trying to chat with Fluttershy about how difficult it is being a model.
I started to read the Dashie story once but didn't get into it and thus did t finish. Its been brought up a few times in different places recently though so I might have to give it another shot.
P.S. It's not true Royal Canterlot Voice unless you use the caps lock.
I was pining for one for quite along time but I'm not sure if it was all that great. It had a lot of good scenes in it but the overall plot felt patchwork and rushed, and AJ was very out of character in order for it to make sense.

I thought it was a great Pinkie Pie episode! Sadly Applejack seemed to have forgotten everything she learned in Applebucking Season and once again did nothing but stubbornly refuse help from anyone else. It just continues to cement her in my mind as the least interesting of the Mane Six.

That is something all character seem to forget. Although it was less of stubbron and more ashamed.

Hey guys/gals. I don't want to go OT too much, but me and my wife were talking about how much has changed the past 10 years in terms of "Gender Roles" in thanks partially to the internet.
This came up because as we watched the show together I confessed that I really like the original MLP when I was young (like 5), but my parents frowned upon it as it was too "girly". The gender roles will probably take a long time to change completely (if ever), but the internet has definitely helped the process. My thought process also comes from the trolls of the internet, who assume that liking MLP is for girls.
Back to my original point.. (I tend to rant).. Gender roles are always heated on the internet, because for some reason everyone seems to think they have to be all masculine, all the time, but really the internet has slowly taken away genders. My wife's room consists of Marvel, Hellraiser, Death(the figure), unicorns, fairies, and Monster High theme.. She's a perfect example of not caring about "gender topics" and just liking what you like.
I guess my topic question is: Do you think "gender topics" are being blurred as we enter the digital age? "Gender Topics" being what's ok for a boy to like or a girl to like.
I'm sorry for my ranting, I'm really dyslexic so it's hard to get a point across sometimes.. I hope this will make the post better.
I agree, but with me, MLP kinda has a grimdark side, with the fan fics like fallout equestria and such. I love the show too, and have decided RAINBOW DASH IS BEST PONY!

Nah, that's a well-thought out post, and this thread is a great place to discuss it.
I'd definitely say the internet and the anonymity it brings is a huge factor in this kind of thing. Others would include growing gender equality and our society's slow creep towards greater tolerance.
To be honest, I think the "brony" subculture is large enough at this point to represent a serious shift in how people view gender roles. It's not the first to be in that position, but it's large and widespread enough to affect some thinking.

I think it's true that the gender line has become a little blurred over the ages and its ok for men to like cute stuff and women to like boy stuff ^^ I know that if back when I was 5 and said "I like MLP" I would be laughed out of theplayground but the other day one or two of my mates found out I was a brony and were cool with it. Ok, To understand why it is consdered wrong and weird for men to like girly stuff you must look to the past. As many know it wasnt even a couple of decades ago the women got thr right to vote(Before that they where considered lower then men) And we still feel thw dichotomy today in society. Women make less in the work force.
Ok so know lets get into Gender. While many think gender means you biological assignment in sociology circle it is a state of mind often associated with a certain sex. There are two main ones
Masculine and Feminine.
Masculinity is often associated with the following things. Lack of sensitive emotions or if present the need to conceal them, Love of sports and violence. While they do have friends that you care about shown emotion are a no no(no hugging) And the feeling of needing to provide for the family.
Feminitity is nurturing and caring. Generally more emotional then masculinity. Deep personal emotional connections with friends that show. Love of less violent beautiful thing. Ginerally it is this personality that raises kids and takes care of the household.
I dont need to tell who which ones are associated with which Sex.
So keeping in mind that women are in some cases(even subconsciously or not even realizing it) considered lowlier then men. If i Man does girly stuff he is lowering himself to the status of a women. What women wants a man thati snt up for providing?
But!!!! The reason the it is more allowed in the reverse(women liking guy stuff) is because it is considered.women bring themselves up towards men. therefore empowering.
There is alot more i could go into but im neglecting homework.

It it bad I read that in Pinky Pie's voice? lol
Nope. Because pinkie is smart. She has a Doctorate is baking.
I don't think it's the anonymity of the Internet that does it as much as the communication it provides. Shifts in society values and ideas are constant but being more easily able to find the people who think the same things you do allows new beliefs to grow and change faster.
Also, since AcousicBrony's Spectrum has been posted here a few times as a favorite song, I figure I'll post their new Dash song they just released a few hours ago;
I'm fighting a cold, in class most days and night(s), and work 20+ hours.
In my spare time, I've been getting people to read My Little Dashie to gauge their reaction, we are a bunch of cold, heartless ponies here... Not a single tear was shed this day. But we do all agree tis a sad story.
Hotsauce I was playing with ya. Fluttershy is zombiefied from no sleep, not staring at you. I've been there with the 18 credit hour semesters and 30 hour work weeks. Now it's just changed over to 60 hour work weeks.. : (

well, I've been painting ponies if that counts ^_^
was talking to the owner of my LGS the other day and apparently I cant use my pony army in store (not that that stops me putting the odd pony in my army) :( though there's a gaming club on wednesdays that will taste the wrath of my ponies :3
because of the off chance that someone might come in about to buy a SM biker army, sees it and makes a pony army instead......yeah I know -_-'
then again, there was a tourny last night that required you to have all your models painted and I was the only one with a painted army so its not like these rules are enforced very well :/
I really need to buy a Twilight Sparkle and Rarity for my computer. I keep meaning to do it and for whatever reason when I see them in the store I don't go through with it.
It's not that I don't want to be seen with ponies. I have three daughters so buying something "girly" doesn't phase me.
It's... the molded hair. I swear, my video game of choice at the moment lets me stab guys in the jaw and I just want a Twilight Sparkle and Rarity with real-ish hair.
I only recently found out about the cult of "bronies". Truly, all geeks before have been out-geeked by this phenomenon. Are you a Trekker, video game freak or die-hard fan of the Patrick Troughton years of Dr. Who? Well, no matter what you are into, even if it's painting toy soldiers, you've just been out-done by "bronies".
Found this today:
and the brave hero kills the brony
------------------------------------------------------
This was the first thing I found a few weeks ago when someone first told me about "bronies". I Googled it and this was the first hit.
Here's the text and a photo from Wired. Visit the link below for fan videos and more that go with this article.
My Little Pony Corrals Unlikely Fanboys Known as ‘Bronies’
Each day, out-of-work computer programmer Luke Allen self-medicates by watching animated ponies have magical adventures.
The 32-year-old, who lives in Albuquerque, New Mexico, loves his daily fix of My Little Pony Friendship Is Magic, and he’s not alone. He’s part of a growing group of “bronies” (“bro ponies”) — men who are fans of a TV show largely intended for a much younger audience.
“First we can’t believe this show is so good, then we can’t believe we’ve become fans for life, then we can’t believe we’re walking down the pink aisle at Toys R Us or asking for the girl’s toy in our Happy Meal,” Allen said in an e-mail to Wired.com. “Then we can’t believe our friends haven’t seen it yet, then we can’t believe they’re becoming bronies too.”
Every nerd has a favorite TV show they watch religiously and know inside and out. But My Little Pony seems like an unlikely object of fanboy love. Since the show debuted last fall on cable channel Hub TV, it’s attracted a growing number of male fanatics. Their love of the show is internet neo-sincerity at its best: In addition to watching the show, these teenage, twenty- and thirtysomething guys are creating pony art, posting fan videos on YouTube and feeding threads on 4chan (and their own chan, Ponychan).
They also risk life, limb and being trolled to death on the /co/ board to fawn over a small gaggle of ponies with names like Twilight Sparkle, Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash.
The fan videos might be the main reason anyone outside the brony community knows the show as a meme. Nerd blog Topless Robot, for example, is committed to following My Little Pony fan videos. One YouTube user posted an 8-bit chiptune anthology of songs from the show, and the A.V. Club recently called the trend of mashing up My Little Pony clips with movie trailers a “meme champion.”
“I believe the fan base for this new generation of MLP is one of the most amazing/unexpected things to come out of the internet in a long while,” Henri Yount, a 20-year-old from Virginia whose My Little Pony mashups with movie trailers have gotten nearly 350,000 views on YouTube, said in an e-mail to Wired.com (see his pony-riffic spin on Watchmen above).
“When I say ‘amazing,’ I’m referring to the crazy amount of content and the hard-working people who produce material every day, which I haven’t seen in many other fan bases,” Yount added.
To see that dedication, one need only take a quick look at a recent series of “Hitler Reacts To …” videos that show Der Führer as a dedicated brony infuriated over the removal of several My Little Pony videos from YouTube. Or the high school presentation one young man did on the physics of the show. (A note to other news outlets: Physics Brony’s name isn’t Stephen Magnet as has been reported. Stephen is right, but the last name is a reference to “Steven Magnet” — an inside joke amongst bronies.)
Shaun runs the My Little Pony fan site Equestria Daily.
YouTube isn’t the only place online creative communities are gathering in pony love. The online artist collective deviantArt had, at last count, nearly 90,000 pieces of My Little Pony artwork and hundreds more are going up each day (on one random day in May, about 330 pieces were submitted).
My Little Pony creations have taken off in other areas as well. On Equestria Daily, a fan blog that on first blush could be mistaken for a fifth-grade girl’s locker door, site curator Shaun (he asked that his last name be withheld) struggled to find a half-dozen pieces of art to post in a given day back in January. He now claims he can easily fill a post with 30 images.
Shaun isn’t just impressed with the amount of new content bronies are submitting to his site, he’s also amazed by his own fascination with the show.
“Honestly, if someone were to have told me I’d be writing a pony blog seven months ago, I would have called them insane,” the 23-year-old from Arizona said in an e-mail to Wired.com.
Equestria Daily started back in January as a fun place to collect fanfic and news about the show, Shaun said, but “it has, obviously, evolved way past that.” The brony hub gets roughly 175,000 pageviews per day now, up from about 20,000 just a few months ago, he said.
‘Honestly, if someone were to have told me I’d be writing a pony blog seven months ago, I would have called them insane.’
Most people over the age of, say, 20 remember My Little Pony as a saccharine-smelling Hasbro toy and cartoon from the 1980s. In the decades since the release of the first line of ponies in 1982, there have been a number of dolls, TV shows and direct-to-DVD releases related to the My Little Pony name. Yet, save for a pop cultural archivist here and there (or perhaps a raver), very few of those variations have found an audience beyond the age-3-and-up children for whom My Little Pony is intended.
So, why the breathless adoration? Some fans say the show’s appeal lies in good illustration, excellent characters or, as Allen put it, a “perfect storm of ’80s nostalgia and cultural irony.” But nearly every fan Wired.com contacted can be far more specific about the source of the show’s genius: Lauren Faust.
Faust, a 36-year-old who manned the latest reboot of the My Little Pony franchise for Hub TV at the request of Hasbro Studios, has a bit of a history handling shows with crossover appeal. Prior to her tenure on My Little Pony, Faust was a writer and storyboard artist on The Powerpuff Girls, another show that had appeal way beyond its intended demographic.
While Faust acknowledges that her work on The Powerpuff Girls influenced her creative process and that she intentionally looked to create a show that could be enjoyed by adults, she said she’s genuinely surprised about the large number of dedicated bronies, whom she clearly adores.
Lauren Faust

“This might be a little short-sighted on my part, but I just assumed that any adult man who didn’t have a little girl wouldn’t even give it a try,” Faust said in a phone interview. “The fact that they did and that they were open-minded and cool enough and secure in their masculinity enough to embrace it and love it and go online and talk about how much they love it — I’m kind of proud.”
Faust brings up a good point. Aside from a few brony-haters, blessedly very little (negative) hay seems to get made over dudes liking something that’s “supposed to be for girls” (like, for example, the way girls would be side-eyed for liking Transformers in years past).
Despite a tacit understanding that some people might be surprised by their choice of entertainment, most bronies show little to no compunction about their fandom. They shouldn’t have to. And, intentionally or not, they might be bucking the gender socialization of things considered to be “for girls” or “for boys.”
For at least one man who worked on My Little Pony with Faust, enjoyment of the show isn’t a matter of boys versus girls — it’s about appreciating good stories.
“I had a Google Alert for the show and I kept getting alerts to comments that people were making that were like, ‘I’m a guy and I’m 22 and I love this, why do I love this!?’” said Jayson Thiessen, the show’s supervising director. “I did see what they liked about it because I liked it.”
And the Hub is making more overt attempts to embrace the brony audience. In an extended promo video for the show released recently — a take on Katy Perry’s “California Gurls” called “Equestria Girls” — the ponies lead by Pinkie Pie sing the praises of “our bronies.”
Embracing the brony audience could be a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow for Hasbro because, as Shaun notes, some bronies would like better merch, adding “the current toys are good for the originally intended target audience of 7-year-old girls … but Lauren Faust and the team behind the actual cartoon did an amazing job of accidentally targeting us instead.”
Faust, however, left the show after the first season aired its final episode early last month. Discussing her departure on her deviantArt journal, she said of her colleagues: “Together I think we helped prove that ‘for girls’ does not have to automatically equal ‘lame.’” She also thanked “the kids, the parents and all you bronies” for supporting the show, adding: “The array of people this show has touched has completely exceeded my wildest expectations!”
‘I learned more about theory of mind, friendships and social interactions from this season than I had in the previous 31 years of life.’
If that sounds like hyperbole, it’s not.
“This weird alchemy that Lauren Faust tapped into when she set out to make the show accessible to kids and their parents hooks into the male geek’s reptilian hindbrain and removes a lifetime’s behavioral indoctrination against pink,” said New Mexico brony Allen. “As a person with Asperger syndrome, I learned more about theory of mind, friendships and social interactions from this season than I had in the previous 31 years of life.”
So, what’s a brony to do while he waits for the show to return next fall? It’s possible that several months without new episodes to power the pony posse will cause the buzz to die down. It seems far more likely, though, that the show’s absence will only make the bronies’ hearts grow fonder.
“Season 1 is over,” said Shaun from Equestria Daily, “and I honestly expected everything to die down a bit (mainly so I could finally get a break!), but it seems like the fans are more ravenous than ever for more content.”
We really didnt need the entire article BrassScorpion, a link would suffice.
For every person that says that, someone else always posts that they want pics and article posted because they don't want to go to another link or can't because of work, etc.
Hmm... is there a way to block specific users on specific threads?
There's an ignore button that allows you to ignore posts by specific users. Methinks someone is entirely humorless about their "little ponies". I thought ponies and other large mammals (and forum users) had thick skin.
Probably the one who posted the pic of Pinkie getting ripped in half.
Of course we all know that if you rip Pinkie in half you end up with two Pinkies as she reforms from both halves (She has a 1+ Regeneration save with unlimited re-rolls) but it''s still an inconvenience.
The article he posted from is good and non-biased though, so not a troll.

If they did a new episode every 22 minutes then A. I wouldn't get ANY work done... and B. we would have to clone the whole production team and cast... I'll get the cloning device done
Mostly I just didn't like the image, but I doubt there's a way to block specific images on here, so I asked what I asked. Go ahead and badmouth all you want, but gore's only acceptable to me if it's done in good humour.

OMG. USE THE PARTY CANNON AS A THUNDEFIRE. And then ake pinkie the tech mareine
I think those things are hilarious. I'm just waiting for an episode dealing with romance (it'll come, given enough seasons) with entire clips that can be used for those things.

The Cutie Mark Crusaders create a strong love potion in the hopes of making Miss Cheerilee and Big Macintosh fall in love, but when they discover the serious side effects of their concoction, they quickly regret their actions.
Tomorrow will be the 15th out of 18 listed episodes for Season 2, but there's no set number, yet.
Anyway, the "going home" theme for the last day of EqD's Artist Training Grounds got the creative juices flowing again. That and watching The Prestige.
if we belive my little dashie there will be 8 seasons, thats 77 hours of ponies were all looking forward to that and by the end the entire world will be united in love and tollerance
The best part was, it seemed like the Cider Squeezy worked perfectly fine. Until they upped the speed and reduced quality control, it was putting through proper apples as well- probably, if Flim and Flam had gone to 50-50 or 25-75 in favor of the Apples, they'd have been able to sell a Cider Squeezy that day.
I'm glad they didn't do a "technology bad, old ways good" lesson with that one. I was fearing that would be the low point to an otherwise great episode.
I'm starting to become aware of the force that is MLP. Its presence is felt across the interwebz! I actually happened to catch when this thread started, and laughed pretty hard. I was amazed when I noticed it was still up after months, 50 pages and climbing. Now I've seen references to MLP on other forums, and see that this thread is still going strong, and going for 100 pages!
Anyways, I've got a 3.5 year old daughter, and am always looking for stuff for her to watch. What's the best way to jump into MLP? How many seasons in are they? I don't have cable or satellite, just DVD and youtube. We usually borrow disks from the library for her, but I've never seen MLP there yet (although I guess I haven't actually looked for it).
Probly some pretty dumb questions but I thought I'd see what you bronies have to say...
It's 15 episodes into season 2 of a projected 26. Season 1 was also 26 episodes long. There are no MLP: FIM DVDs as of yet (and the only one planned contains only 5 random episodes), but all the episodes are on youtube, and you can buy them through iTunes.
God I loved the very ending of the new episode! I literally broke down laughing at the message to celestia
On the episode itself, it was funny, cute and all, good episode.
Spoiler:
But on a deeper level I thought it was pretty interesting and it was probably very good of them to not put in a too in your face "this is good, this is bad" lesson.
Nerivant wrote:I'm glad they didn't do a "technology bad, old ways good" lesson with that one. I was fearing that would be the low point to an otherwise great episode.
this basically. Though in a way I still thought it did paint a slightly less bright picture of progress. I mean sure maybe their cider isn't as tasty (though we really don't know how it would have tasted with the quality control on), but at least there is enough cider to make everypony happy.
Well I guess as long as they didn't have an Adam Smith pony coming along and saying "don't worry everypony! Our free market economy will regulate itself!" I won't complain Maybe some things shouldn't be given to deep of a thought, though it is funny how an episode of MLP lead me back to think about Keynes, Smith, Marx etc... what if they both parties would have produced cider side by side and let the demand regulate who stays? What if the mayor subsidized the traditional production of cider? Is it ok for a single family to dominate a large part of a whole towns food and goods production and sales? Is it ok for said family to threaten people who want to open a business in the area they dominate? Would competitive climate create a happier ponyville or drive the "local" businesses into the ground? What if the Apple family just hired ponies to buck the apples and then sold them to the brothers to sell cider for a share of the profit and then lived on that money or invested it else where? If so, could the workers on the fields question their relatively low pay from the Apple family who makes a major share of the profit simply because a member of nobility gifted them with a piece of land before they were even born? Maybe I should shut the buck up?
My little pony: Economics is magic
LOL love that pony personality test... my results. Funny I'm actually almost an equal mix of Fluttershy and Applejack, but Fluttershy just wins by a smidge!
Guys haven't all the CMC episodes taught you that you can't force yourself to be something or someone you're not And of course an online pony personality test has the final word on that x) (I am kidding of course...)
But coming to think of the CMCs, I see where they are going with the whole don't force yourself to be something you are not and discover your true self, but trying everything you want to be good at and then sticking to it is kinda how you get personality don't you? I mean at first I was horrible at everything I am relatively good at now and people would be surprised with what crazy stuff others end up. Who knows, maybe if Applebloom actually did karate for a few years she could get her cutie mark with that (which would be gangsta)... of course lots of patience is required for that...
+ we need more Sweetie Aretha Franklin Bell songs!
Thing is, the CMC never stick to what they try. The just bounce around from one to another without putting proper effort into anything- however, every time they try something, there's a chance that it'll foster use of their actual talents, and that they'll realize that is their 'thing'. Like that talent show. If that had gone any differently, they'd probably have their Cutie Marks by now- not for Talent Showing or being Rockstars, but for Building, Singing and Moving (or whatever).
I am thinking about finishin paintin mah ork army, and I need some help... So far I figured out...
Doc Grotsnik = Pinkie Pie (Just loves to party hard)
Snikrot = Fluttershy (Is a little shy)
Big Mek = Rarity (Rides in a gold and silver Battlewagon the has Diamonds encrusted in it)
Buggies = Cutie Mark Crusaders (A Unit of 3 that I seems to always live till the end of the game and annoys my opponents with their skorchas)
Deff Kopta = Rainbow Dash (Fastest thing in the army with scout turboboost)
Burna Boyz #1 =
Burna Boyz #2 =
'Ard boyz =
Battlewagons =
Trukks =
Boyz in the Trukks =
Apparently, I'm ridiculously Fluttershy and more Rarity than average. Not even the slightest bit Pinky-Pie. So I guess I'm a pretentious ass but too much of a wimp (or too polite, if you want to put a more positive spin on it) to act like one.
http://www.bronyland.com/pony-personality-test/?q=NzcxMXwxNDExODA
I'm pretty sure the test gave me the Applejack result from a general stand point of looking out for others, the subject of the third paragraph of her description. I just find it really amusing because the first two paragraphs are Really wrong, talking about being active and reliable and go get em type stuff, when I'm a really lazy procrastinator who does not get nearly enough exercise. From the questions I was answering, I would have guessed I'd lean more twoards Twilight or Dash, which I guess were my second two highest.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Artist by the name of Ginger Mint who makes some good wallpapers has this up. Recolor it red and it would make a good Khador pony I bet.
So my two brony mates have their birthdays on the same day and I'm hosting a party for them at my place next friday so I thought it'd be awesome to make them a pony themed cake (everyone knows they are fans).
'Most' like Fluttershy, but almost equally Twilight and Applejack. Quite a bit like Rarity, and somewhat like Pinkie, but I don't have even a smidgen of Dash in me, it seems.
Interesting, I assumed I would get either Twilight or Fluttershy... I'm surprised I almost got Rarity and to a larger extent, I assumed very little in the way of Rainbow Dash.
Though considering Applejack and RD rarely get along, it makes sense that I dislike RD.
Pretty fun test actually, surprised by the lack of twilight sparkle, but then again the test didn't ask me how much I love books/literature
Edit: I also like how the test wasn't as obvious as some other tests are. Yes you can see where they are going with some questions but in the end the variety was nice

That and the fact that hater and trolls tend to come in waves, all they do is end up bumping the thread, thus making it more powerful, thus attracting more people.
Trolling a MLP thread is about as progressive and worth while as trying to give your head a tan by putting it in the microwave.
I was thinking of ways to make the dash cake 20% cooler when I thought of ponyfying the two friends (birthday on the same day) the party is for and putting them on the cake, unfortunately I can't draw although I can follow a design with icing well enough.
Would anyone by up for making pony versions of these two friends? If you are PM me and I'll tell you the details and provide you with photos to work from.

You could use this thing: http://generalzoi.deviantart.com/art/Pony-Creator-Full-Version-254295904. Has a ton of options, and with the 'break joints' option, you can have them in any position you want, too. Print out the design, or just export it to a computer. If you have access to a projector, you could even project the image to be traced.
That's pretty useful but I'd really like one to have stubble and a beanie hat (which are unavailable for some reason ) and the other to have a fleece jacket as well as some other custom features.
Sadly I can't draw and have little in the way of artistic skill so making them is challenging.
There are a distressing lack of beards and hats- unfortunately, the creator's not adding to the library of the thing. Still, it can at least give you the basic pony shape and pose that you'll want- you could then have someone use that image to add the rest.
Ok I have some rough versions, I can just ice the other details on.
I've also decided to swap out the dash exterior theme with a more pinky theme (frilly bits of icing, love heart sweets and pink icing) and icing drawings of the two custom ponies on the top, it'll still have the rainbow inside though.

Got the first batch of bloodcrushers painted up. very little conversion work. Presenting crusher pinkie pie, twilight, and celestia. Not very good, but it does distract the opposition.
Hahahahahaahaha those Bloodcrushers just freaked the buck out of me xD very nice indeed I'll be having nightmares bout the Pinky Pie Crusher
Btw I just had an epiphany. I need to model a Commander for my IG army with pink hair and balloons somewhere so she/(or he?) can use Pinkies awesome lines in combat "Sir, it turns out our reinforcements are not going to show up"
"Oki doki loki"
"Sir, we cannot win without artillery!"
"Private, are you loco in the coco?! I never leave home without my party cannon!"
"Sir, we are losing on all fronts, we need an idea fast!
"Hold on to your helmet Privat, I am just about to be brilliant!"
I could go on forever... so I will
Spoiler:
"Sir, all are long range attacks have failed!"
"Huh, so these ponies wanna part-ey, well I'll give them a part'EY! Close combat men!"
"Sir, reinforcements have arrived!"
"Men, looks like it's time to paaaaaarty"
"Sir we are losing the battle!"
"This calls for extreme measures... pinkie pie style!"
"You have been defeated Commander Pinkie, any last words?"
"And I was like Oat meal, are you crazy!?"
"Sir, are men can't face the terrors of the warp! We are retreating!"
"Stand tall men! Giggle at the ghosties! Crack up at the ten foot demon of Khorne!"
"How can you say that sir?!"
"When I was a little filly and the sun was going doooooooowwwwwn"
"Tell me he's not...
"He is"
"Men, trust not the lies of the Eldar farseer! She's an evil enchantress and she does evil dances!"
