When a crown is stolen from the Crystal Empire, Twilight Sparkle pursues the thief into an alternate world where she transforms into a teenage girl who must survive her biggest challenge yet… high school. With help from her new friends who remind her of Ponyville’s Applejack, Rarity, Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie, and Fluttershy, she embarks upon a quest to find the crown and change the destiny of these two parallel worlds.
Well, if it's a DVD spin-off movie, it's something we can gladly ignore and done (in fact, if sales go horribly low compared to the other stuff, they may not try to go in that direction again).
PS 1: in any case, we'd do well to remember that while we're a lot, we are not the target audience (even though they make winks at us from time to time).
I just watched an episode, and I can't figure out what about the plot is so interesting. I was board, and kept checking how much was left. Plus I found the dialog to be very predictable at times. I also found it to be oddly sexist.
hotsauceman1 wrote:Im hiding in my bunker, Who wants in?
I somehow find the idea of them having their cutiemarks on their cheeks to be gross ...
... so that brings the sum of "not as interesting" to the brink of "possibly won't see it" for me

As long as you don't look like this, you're fine.
(Inserted picture of some bloke)
First, have you any idea that there may be several in this world that "looks like him"?
I assume it is a (to you) known dirtbag or paedophile, but i have no idea who that is, and it doesn't relly matter: You say "dont' look like this", as if it was the actual look that is wrong, not the person it is a picture of.
Let's see, you look at one random episode of it, and find parts of it predictable, and some parts, you even find sexist.
Oh, and you are constantly wondering how much it left ....
One, Somtimes Predictable:
Is there even one show that isn't "sometimes predictable"?
Also, considering the officcial demographic .... of course it will be a bit predictable!
It is still less predictable than other cartoons with similar demographics.
Two: Sexist.
I do wonder what episode you saw, because even though a few episodes may seem sexist while taken out of context .... they aren't really abundant.
... Unless you are someone that thinks that it is sexist when Applejack tries to help Pinkie bake in ... i think it is called "applebuck season" .... because if you think that is sexist, then you see things that isn't there, simply put.
Three: Finding it uninteresting ... or even boring.
Duh.
Not all people like everything.
Some like pure Action, some just like Drama, some like Comedy, some like Scifi, some like Fantasy.
Several like mixing categories, and also several have one or more categories they dislike.
Again, not all people like everything.
MLP: FiM is no exception, clearly.
Any with artistic bents. You saw the sculpture? Basically, it'd be easier for him if he had a reference picture to go off of, of what an "Angry Pony Commissar" would look like- ear position, eyes, mouth, maybe ponified commissar gear...
Well, Im just going to ignore that IP. I dont think i will like it. IT will just be something fans forget exist, Like how people ignore Star Trek Enterprise, And wesley crusher.
I disappointed they went with the original concept designs instead of the second batch the released later. Also, can it Get any more demeaning for Spike? From little brother/adopted son to pet...
Apparently, From what i understand so take it with more salt than you do chips, The twilight we see go in is another dimensional twilight that gets stuck there, but OUR(as in the one we have been following) she never went it in the mirror.
So do I! In the end, Twilicorn is still Twilight. Just a bit taller and some wings. Thanks for the rumour of alternate universe. My only concern was the canonization.
I have to say, Equestira Girls took a turn for the best when they made the human ponies look more human from the teaser art we saw some months back. I'd still prefer they had human skin tones though. I feel it deserves a chance.
Heya Dark. Just wanted to say whoa still looking awesome!
On note of EG. Yeah they look better than the promotion (wings and tattoos and what all). Still extremely cynical and assuming the worst. I will give it a shot but I am not expecting much.
EG is a responce to things like Monsters Highschool. I don't expect it to be a masterpiece, but not worth going with my forks and torches to burn Hasbro.
Sometimes we forget but aren't but "a nice extra on sales" and little more.

Hmmmmm.... forks and torches.... oooooooh..... Hmmm.... probably not worth it.... But the chaos gods do whisper in my ears.... Meh. Just wish it wasn't so generic high school in how it felt. I'll ignore it if it is bad in the end! On a side note. I tried to draw a few ponies. Sadly, somebody stole the binder I had the completed copies in but... I guess I'll just post em here. Guess what the references were (episodes!)
Well, I'm not paying $7+ to see it, but I'll give it a redbox when it comes out.
I'm just going to pretend it's someone's weird Daria crossover fic and try to enjoy it on that level.

What is this madness!? Green? Why that is the most hideous colour ever I mean... it looks lovely as a mane. Bad joke aside, thanks! I actually managed to find it. Luckily enough, I kept it safe from any damage! The RD.... it really is gone. I asked somebody to watch over my binder while I helped clean up our last orchestra concert.... I guess they threw it aside :/. Really though... Thanks . I only have one more that I am somewhat proud of. Once Summer comes I'm planning on working a bit more on it. Probably go for be- Twilight Sparkle.
So then.... is anybody here going to watch the mlp film? If so might I rudely ask if you post your opinion if you have the time and don't mind? I'll give it an opportunity but I'm a tad bit.... cynical about it I suppose.
I'll probably watch it, but not in the theater. I mean it definitely has flaws in the premise that I don't like, but I understand why they're doing what they're doing, and its made by the same writing team as the pony show, so it will probably still manage to be entertaining.
Personally I've heard it was meh. It was okay but not great. Good for what the story was about (bland highschool) and was Twilight learning the power of magic again. Also contrived reason for only Twilight going. And an extremely forced romance plot. Some very loving references towards Vinyl Scratch, youtube, and Derpy though! In the end it doesn't sound like something I would like to watch. And eeeeh something I hope they don't reference. I really want to give it a try... but the entire argument, the debate, the terrible first trailer, the humanization, the forced romance, and, admittedly, reading summaries and reviews only further pushed me away from slightly interested to cynical as hell.
I loved it. It felt like a long episode. They put in a ton of subtle hints for bronies, quite frankly they made that movie for Bronies. I totally felt I got my 10 bucks of entertainment, and that's the first movie I've seen this year that has given me that feeling.
Glad to hear you enjoyed it! In the end I succumbed to curiosity and watched it. In the end.... it was meh to me. The animation wasn't bad and for what it was, I got a ton of laughs (particularly Derpy and Vinyl sold me). In the end though, I cannot call it good. It was blatantly advertising reasons, had a contrived plot, was the first two episodes repeated, and has the boring high school prom jerky bully girl vibe. Finally, the romance plot even though it was minor made me want to gag whenever I saw it. In the end though.... eh. They did the best they could with such a terrible concept and I'll give them that. I just hope it doesn't get shoehorned into 4th edition.
It's a great movie for fans, but it's not going to stand up to any of the other big movies (or hell even the other kid's movies)
Had it been Direct to DVD, everyone would probably agree that it was a really good movie. But considering this is the first movie for MLP;FiM (and DHX as well) every brony needs to atleast give it one watch.
I understand why they kinda set it up like the first couple episodes though. It gives Hasbro some room to play with a spinoff. If they decide to go that way. Since the "new" characters have been introduced, all they gotta do is start from where the film left off in the Human world. IIRC IDW is making a 6 comic series for Equestria girls and
Spoiler:
Human pinkie hinted to a Human Twilight already living in the Human world
I don't think they'll bring it over into the next season, but if Hasbro wanted to, they have more than enough wiggle room to start something to go along FiM. Make a MLP power hour every saturday. Would totally give it a try.
And I think Time to make a Change is my new Favorite MLP song.
Nah. Tony couldn't stand sharing the limelight, and neither could Rarity.
AJ actually fits somewhat. Her practicality compliments his excess, while her willingness for hard work and honesty are things he'd be able to relate to and 'get behind'.
AJ would probably get sick of all his "fancy mathematics" pretty quick though. Then again I'm probably heavily influenced by an Advegers/Pony crossover fic I read awhile back where Rarity was the stand in for Pepper Pots. Guess who Iron Pony was?

Got a link or a name? Sounds interesting. Pony Crossovers can be incredible, in my experiences- things like My(Stara's) Little Pony: Friendship is Adventuring, which is a "crossover" with the Mystaria setting of DnD. Or the two Dresden Files/MLP crossovers- Dresden Fillies and My Little Denarians.
My Little Denarians and the short one that came before it were awesome. Also loved the original Fallout as well as Puppy Smiles one. Waiting for Somber to finish his Fallout story so I can read that as well because all of Somber's stuff is pretty good. Found the Avengers story on EQD;

i cant tell whether its sleep deprivation or what but that was way funnier than it should have been...... also that was the first time ive seen a pistol in a pony video
I have seen equestria girls now ... but not on the movies.
What i thought .....
I liked it.
Would it be worth a movie ticket for me?
Not to see alone.
Will i buy it on DVD when it comes there?
Probably/possibly, but first i'll have to get the ordinary episodes on DVD.
Is the story canon?
How weird it may sound like, yes. It works
... You may also ignore it, too if you must, but there may be a minor sideffect on the series.
Did anything disturb me?
One of the songs (were there more than one?) disturbed me a bit, but it went over, normally i'm disturbed by embarrassing situations ... but those were over fast, too.
I am also disturbed by the fact that they look way too thin in my eyes ... but really, i did not think about that more than a minute total during the entire movie!
I mentioned earlier that it was an excessively average cliche movie with a blatantly forced romance, a grating deus ex machina, out of character moments (I'm looking at you Snips, Snails, and idiotLuna), contrived plot, and many other flaws cementing it at a 5/10 or 2.5/5.
But... I must say. Whilst I loathed the fact they made Spike a dog.... goodness gracious did they write him well in the movie! Now usually I feel he isn't written really well (coughcoughSpikeatYourServicecough), but in this movie, they did splendidly. He was intelligent and slightly snarky but he occasionally would say something not as smart as he thought it would sound in his head. Still held his crush on Rarity etc. I was actually very much pleased by how they acted him out.
It's.... it's not really there but it kinda sorta is. It is like oh hi you bumped into me, oh hi there again I'm getting a but blushy in the face, oh he used to date the generic evil antagonist? Oh he saved me from something that was blatantly fake only a few minutes after it happened so mutual respect. And then he appears again dance time! And they are all huggy blushy and then she goes back and all blushy.
It's in that oh it is a crush. My gripe is the character is just so..... bland. And it could have done without it and been completely fine.
AduroT wrote: I'm trying to avoid it like the plague. Spoilers...
Oh my gosh! I'm so sorry. What an idiot I was for forgetting to spoiler well I admit I'm hoping for the best. Been a long while since the last episode although it did seem decent enough.
Meh. Would be better if the recruits had designed and chosen it rather than it being something thrown in as a joke that happened to get picked anyways.
Ok, that's it. I have to try watching this show and figure out why this is so popular I tried watching the first ep and it was funny but wasn't "MUST SEE MORE" good.
First two episodes introduce the characters and their personalities, and are on, but not the shining examples of the show. Best episodes are Dog And Pony Show from Season 1, and Lesson Zero from Season 2.

I would sugest watching 6 epasodes, one of the will grab you.
It's by Fantasy Blade on DA, I'll get a link later when I'm not at work, and yes actually... that probably would have made more sense, but rule of cool.
"Seasonal" art pony art dump 'ere (most request or gift art)
And when "clop" just was the sound ponies made whe applauding, we had the "American Cloppers" (take on American Choppers), with a rather cartoony logo, now we redesigned it, as shown on this pic of myself ^^
My parents used to threaten me with 'My Little Pony' toys for Christmas and birthday when I was a kid. Now that I have two daughters I hate to admit that MLP is an awesome cartoon. They have some really good writers. When I ask my kids what they want to see on Netflix and they reply "Caillou!" I usually say... "How about 'MLP' instead?"
Now I play MLP with my girls.... It's awesomeness wrapped up in magic.
My favorite pony is Twilight Sparkle, she has that Samantha from Bewitched kind of thing going on.
I guess she's a blue eyed brunette... and a maternal figure... which apparently is just gold to large swaths of the internet that never got hugged enough growing up.

Pony Porn! I grew up on a farm and it still makes me sick.
The official Necron, "'What would Bender say?' 'Please, he's no different from the rest of you organisms. Shooting DNA at each other to make babies. I find it offensive!'"
I was slightly let down by the Big Mac arc, I thought Fleetfoot and what's her name with the Teacup would be getting more panel time. Cheerilee seemed pretty pleased to see the our friend in red, and Luna gave him a smooch! Looks like it's a four way cat fight to the finish! An eligible bachelor number one is completely oblivious. He probably should get that concussion/romantic delusion/obsession causing ability of his looked at though.

Her punishment.... IS the worst of them all! Now you must hunt her and punish her for her acts of betrayal. She must learn her wrongs by not getting to go to your next party! Mwahahahaha!
Also O.o I leave for some time and I return to find somebody looking up Button's Mom xD oh dear. And yeah perhaps that part should stay quiet for us all here. I personally blame the long break between the previous season and the soon to come. It's driving people mad I say mad! (also who configures the safety system on google anyways?)
I just watch G1 MLP... it's... well let me put it this way, there's a lot of G4 idea's that were obviously taken from it (being a quasi remake and all) just... make it bare bones, and add humans (and sea ponies and flutter ponies here and there...)

Dont worry, I feed the culprit ghost pepper hotsauce
I read that. Im always skeptical of unverified new reports. But if it is true it is bs. I feel uncomfortable from my managers constant hitting on girls his daughters age but I dont complain.
Ah. Almost feels like a way they are trying to overcompensate fr her becoming a princess perhaps? Kinda due to the backlash and all they nerf her far too much.... I bet you can't figure out who my favorite character is . I have to watch it still. Waiting till nobody is on to interrupt.
I'm afraid that for people such as I, today was Doctor Who day, which overshadowed MLP. But what a magnificent day with both that and these opening episodes, and just to add some frosting, there was a Doctor Who reference in it!
Spoiler:
Nightmare Moon shoots Dalek lasers complete with sound effect
Also, do you think they deliberately foreshadowed next episode with Rainbow Dash's line "We're almost at Celestia and Luna's old castle," which is what the next episode is about.
Also Im curious as to where the plot juice came from. I am to assume Zecora must of pillaged it from the ruined castle. i wonder what else she has taken from there

So many questions about them now...
Perhaps alicorn magic is really just a title for high born magic that is restricted to the creme' of the crop? A possibility mind you. That or they were just reuising some old resources to make it easier. Oh anyways, overall I really enjoyed the season opener. Up until they enter the forest the pacing is phenominal. Once they go in it kinda falls off as the standard problem of they have to start rushing things they really shouldn't appears (also 3 minute luna tia battle is short). And yeah Twilight was a damsel in distress that seems to have mystically forgotten she is one of the greatest spell casters in all of Equestria (and probably ahs the potential to be not only the best of all ponies but one of the greatest of their world). But yeah overall it was great and I was kinda glad Spike is getting a more prominent role.
good to see they're back to making good episodes ^^ the end of season 3 was a huge dissapointment but this was just amazing and gave the writers plenty of scope to expand the MLP universe
My only real gripes with the episode were that it was far too contrived (really they all conveniently go into the dreaded forest at once to the same place but only them?), it felt like the journal was a tad bit shoe horned in (although a good concept), and it seemed to be trying to continue the story before promptly making it a gag slice of life episode that really jarred with it (but I don't care because Twilight gushing over books)
Ah just reminds me of just how memeprone that whole entire season opener was... really? A scepter of Twilight? Discord in a maid outfit? A drink that was white liquid? Tentacle vine thingies? Oh dear what the internet will do xD

IT is abvious those are the marines new special unit. Unicorn Magic Corps. Made from taking the best bronies the marines have to offer and splicing them with unicorn DNA.
I actually liked the first two episodes. The third was meh. This one though.... meeeeeeeh. It was entertaining yes... but I dunno it felt.... bleh? Then again, I think I'm just dealing with the jarring notion of daring doo being a real thing

Well, I guess it goes along my theory that says that Hub's directives behave more or less like Metalocalypse's inner circle and plan to identify widely accepted fancanons and then destroy them on the series xD
I liked that we had 2 action based episodes, perhaps they plan to let plots "grow up" along with the target demographic? (if 6 to 7yo lasses were that, then they would be 9 to 10 for this one) That of course will make it more appealing to adult fans as well.
Also, as usual, art dum pf what I've drawn lately~
First, pics I've drawn for friends (and that I've mailed to them)
This one is for a female friend who threatene me that if she ever comes here of me there, she'll braid my hair and will put daisies on it xD
These two may have OC shipping 9.9
Friends are weird, some thing I'd make a good bed ^^U
This one was started last week and finished it last night, it's for a friend's b-day. Has his OC and significant other's OC as well. Guess it's related to last episode even if tangencially.
Nice! On other notes, bloody hell I think the last episode was my favorite season 4 episode yet and my favorite CMC episode! Wow, I mean, so I'll be honest... I've been hoping it would imply that Scoots is a cripple. Now, I know they didn't entirely say it, but its close enough that I don't care. Yes! And most delightedly, nobody cared one bit. Everyone in the town everybody new she couldn't fly yet it was so casual, so, it doesn't matter in the slightest... YES! Just because you might be late to grow or crippled means nothing! Sure, some jokes will insult you for it but it is for petty reasons and all around people will accept you not giving the slightest flip if you can fly or not. Also really liked RD in this episode. She was honest, revealed the facts... but did it in a way in character and without seeming like she was talking down to Scootaloo.
Sorry just rather exstatic. I liked the first two eps, the two after that came off meh to some of my less liked (but not disliked) episodes and then they nail me with this. Easily one of my top 10 now.
that looks pretty cool :? I bought a pack of the other cards a while ago and it was just little factoids about the characters (though I pulled a rare rarity :') )but this looks like it could make for an interesting game ^^

Eh, Season 4 seems less fan servicey to me than Season 3 did. I'm liking it so far.
Oh, and I hear they're making a second Equestria Girls movie.
Just discovered this thread, but really can't revisit 208 pages to get the answer to this burning question, to which so far all my search-fu has answered "No":
Is there any artwork of ponies playing wargames? There's plenty of artwork of ponies playing RPGs, but i've been looking for any of them playing wargames and have so far found nothing.
No idea about ponies playing Wargames, but I know there's artwork of ponies as characters from wargames. There's even a My Little Commisar and various Pony Mareines armies for 40K- and some of the artwork of Celestia, Luna and Lauren Faust as God-Emperors and such are rather incredible.
Michael Morones, 11, loves My Little Pony. This passion reportedly sparked relentless bullying from his classmates in Raleigh, N.C., and eventually led the boy to attempt suicide.
According to WTVD-TV, Morones is part of a growing group of males of all ages, dubbed "bronies," who watch the program My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic for its moral values and relatable characters.
The boy's family and friends are supportive of Morones's passion for the show, which focuses on empathy and respect, and encourage him to express himself as a brony. The 11-year-old's classmates evidently don't feel the same way.
Morones often came home with stories about being bullied non-stop by others who called the show "gay." The harassment allegedly reached a tragic climax when Morones tried to commit suicide by hanging himself. Thankfully, the boy's mother and stepfather found him in time, but not before the oxygen to his brain was cut off.
The usually spirited child is now lying in a local hospital with a breathing machine and potentially lifelong brain damage. Fellow bronies have already created online tributes, provided donations and sent plush versions of his favorite characters.
Tiffany Morones-Suttle, Michael's mother, is hopeful he'll return to his vibrant self. Regardless of her son's outcome, she is dedicated to stopping the poisonous cycle of bullying, not with punishment, but kindness – just as My Little Pony teaches.
"I've heard a lot of people say you need to go after bullies and hold them responsible," said Morones-Suttle to WTVD-TV. "But you know, I don't think that's what Mike would want. I would rather teach people how to do right than turn around than punish, because punishment doesn't always work."
“We’re not aficionados on My Little Pony. But I am an aficionado on what it takes to be a man in today’s world. And just because you like little ponies means nothing. You having the courage to be who you are and stand up no matter what society says, that is worth its weight in gold,” Glenn concluded. “Send us your snapshots or whatever else you might have and we’ll post them. And Grayson, if you and your mom ever want to come down to Dallas, you let me know. You can bring your My Little Pony lunch bag, and I might bring My Little Pony lunch bag. And we can have lunch.”
I have never before thought I'd be giving Glenn Beck a thumbs up.
I'm trying to make an Equestrian Horse (Pony?) and Musket army. Since I'm very interested in the Victorian Era, I wanted to base them on Wargames Factory's British Firing Line but with Perry Austrian heads. However, now that I think about it, Martini-Henry and Chassepot Rifles would really stifle cavalry (after all, this is Equestria we're talking about). Should I make it ACW-era or Napoleonic?
I wanted to do a humanized army inspired by Equestria. For example, the Solar Empire has Line Infantry inspired by the Austrian line infantry, while Celestia's Royal Guard have French Carabinier helmets with blue crests. Meanwhile, the New Lunar Republic is more of a ragtag rebel army that transforms into a dangerously professional army if victorious.
The problem is background. A lot of this boils down to the storyline. As much as I love the concept of Shining Armour rallying his troops to stop Napoleon from conquering Equestria, it's kind of in a void: Napoleonic!Equestria would just be another major power in Europe to be taken over by Boney. I already made up a whole storyline for humanized Equestria, the Crystal Empire, Saddle Arabia, etc. representing a time period from about 1860-1920.
Oh... ah yes there is that. I'm working on my own army this of a united Equestria Imagi-nation idea set in the early 18th century, after the 30 years war but well enough before hand that Europe was more or less united through the century and afterwards. Celestia would have the heavier, traditional and line troops while the more advance (arty, skirms and militia) would be more aliened with her.
In all seriousness I wish you luck in your endeavor. Might I suggest a couple of ideas though?
You can decide to throw in some magic if you want and say that Equestria replace a certain area of the world at one point with its ponies becoming humans (looking at you Equestria Girls). Or have it replace England as well, like the the sisters being long lost princesses of the Tudor line who are put in charge of England?
The second idea you may want to look into was the year of Rebellions 1848. It was when Europe was a washed in rebellions from Spain to Poland though few eve panned out. It would be at this point that a certain city state in the Germanys or possibly a break away portion of Greece (all the mythological creatures running around in MLP make sense with this location) or Serbia which was part of the Ottomen Empire at the time could experience that same rebellion with the New Lunar Republic. It would fit into the American Civil War (well many of the same tech in the early stages of the war were available at the same time) and if set in Greece then Napoleon wouldn't of gotten to it, but close enough to Austria Hungry.
I hope these ideas will help you if you decide on a historical army. They may not be the best but I felt like I needed to share them anyway
Anvildude wrote: Well, remember that there was a Cavalry charge during WWI. The LAST Cavalry charge, since they were all slaughtered by machineguns, but still...
And are you doing a pure pony(horse) army, or are you having riders as well?
The last cavalry charge in world military history is a matter of some debate. The American 10th Mountain Division's Cavalry Reconnaissance Troop was the last formal American horse equipped unit, and Third Platoon conducted a pistol charge against a German machinegun nest in 1945 while engaged in Austria, it was successful by all reports. The last horse cavalry charge by an Army cavalry unit took place against Japanese forces during the fighting in the Bataan Peninsula, Philippines, in the village of Morong on 16 January 1942, by the 26th Cavalry Regiment of the Philippine Scouts. Shortly thereafter, the besieged combined United States-Philippine forces were forced to slaughter their horses for food and the 26th Regiment fought on foot or in whatever scarce vehicles were available until their surrender.
The 26th's charge was also reportedly successful.
For more modern cavalry actions, American Special Forces and Northern Alliance allies in Afghanistan have ridden in at least one (October 2001) but probably more cavalry charges against Taliban positions fortified with machineguns, RPGs, and T-54 tanks. (Remember this was early in the war, Johnny still had some armor left because the Airforce, Navy and Marines hadn't cratered everything vaguely tank shaped in the entire country just yet.). These charges were fortified with air strikes and artillery which also probably marks the first time an air strike's been called in from horse back.
This doesn't mean the military horse is gone, far from it, between special forces and regular infantry units taking horses and mules for support or mobility in the mountains of Afghanistan and northern Iraq the American horse soldier (or horse Marine as it happens) lives on.
In the time since WW2 (and I've mentioned her before so forgive me) the Marines have even had a hero horse. SSgt Reckless who recently received a monument at the Marine Corps Museum in Virginia. Here she is in dress uniform being promoted to Staff Sergeant by the Commandant of the Marine Corps himself right before a 1,700 Marine military parade in her honor, her blanket includes the French Fourragère unique to the 4th and 5th Marines, two Purple Hearts, a Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, a Presidential Unit Citation with bronze star, the National Defense Service Medal, a Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Korea Medal, a Navy Unit Commendation, and a Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation
Well go figure. I was thinking of , I think, a Polish cavalry unit. But actually, it makes sense that cavalry could be used in the sort of high mobility non-trench warfare of the wars after WWI.
Though I'm kinda waiting for the Big Dog family of robots to be equipped for riding and armed. Robo horse, anyone?
Anpu42 wrote: Actualy the last Cavalry Charge by the US was in 2002 in Afganaistan with US Special Forces supporting the Northern Alliance
The only one I knew for sure about was October 2001 as I mentioned, I'd bet you there's been several after the one in 2002 that haven't been declassified yet.
Anvil you're thinking of the Charge at Krojanty where Polish Uhlans. 1st and 2nd squadrons of the 18th Pomeranian Uhlans, at that time still not fully converted over to armored vehicles (TK-3 Tankettes, which 3rd and 4th squadrons were equipped with at the time of the charge) instead of their horses, charged and shattered a German infantry battalion outside the town of Krojanty, 1 September 1939. Soon after the attack the cavalry received machine gun fire from German armoured cars stationed nearby and was forced to retreat. Delay of the German advance is claimed as successful completion of the Poles' mission. This is where we get the myth of Polish horse cavalry charging German tanks.

Mixed. It's been a rollercoaster all around. Tons of good episodes, a couple of great episodes, and quite a few sub par-bad episodes. Their overrunning narrative really didn't do so well. Twilight's character is underdeveloped now rarely really showing her learning or doing things wrong which comes to be a problem when she also has magic that can solve problems (particularly when action oriented). Her rise to princess-hood is disappointing to say the least. Not because she became an alicorn, I'm fine with that, but instead because they don't really use it. The only times they have were in the opener, Twilight Time, and the most recent episode (Trade ya). First half of the season really needed to think about how a lot of suggestive themes might not be the best idea. Pinkie Pie is very annoying when not the main character, Spike is used to be beaten up for people to laugh at and is constantly mocked at with few good scenes even in his own episode, Fluttershy is still the doormat that never really develops, and they are bloody making EQ2 because one film based on a pony show but changed into not being pony but high school not musical but the new one will probably be a musical. Overall, personally think it is better than season 3 and there hasn't been an episode yet that is as bad as Spike at your Service. I'm overall having fun!
It seems to be getting quieter in this thread these days. Something I wanted to point out about the last episode: it features a book that can make the user's desires come true, the person with the book wants to change the world, and their eyes glow when they use it.
I think some of the "Mane-ia" is wearing off. The fandom's still going strong, and the show's still really, really good, but as it's become a more firmly entrenched part of internet and geek culture (albeit still somewhat behind the scenes/underground), people don't find as much need to talk about it with others- there's no massive Transformers off-topic thread on here, after all, but tons of people still nerd-out about that show a ton.
I'd say if you want more solid Pony culture, hang out on one of the dedicated sites for a bit.
Also the YouTube wipe probably hasn't helped things. A lot of folks dislike using other sites, and many can't (or won't ) watch it on the telly.

Spoiler:
It happens. People get busy, colleges get to finals, people have to work and, whilst it's still big, many of us are likely off of being in the new stage of the fandom where things are new. Add to that we are on a single thread dedicated to it on a wargaming oriented board with a very specific focus and it's bound to die off quicker than anything else. Also I was too busy thinking about the necromicon to really even compare it to death note
Yeah, this is a legit thread. It's crazy long, but a lot of that was because of all the "Bronies are the crazy perverts!" "No, it's actually a pretty good show and we're tired of all the overly-macho drek that's being shoveled nowadays!" arguments.
There's some good almost-essays in here about the phenomenon that the Brony subculture was- but yeah, it's sorta petered out. I think the Brony stuff has sort of retreated into its own corner of the internets, now that there's so many dedicated sites (for fanfiction, art, imageboards, music, etc)- but the ponies will still pop up every so often in avatars and image macros- sorta like a lot of other 80's fandoms.
Man, I need to finish Season 4 still. I think I'm just missing from Ep 14 or 15 onwards, but I can't find anywhere to watch anymore- and it seems like only the older eps are ever on television.
Anvildude wrote: I must have missed something. How were Bronies involved in the whole Confederate Flag thing?
Or the Gay Marriage thing? I mean, I get that there's a Rainbow Connection going on, but was there something else happening?
They weren't.
Its just the rainbow colored ponies matching pretty well with the rainbow flag i thinks.
or some one is trying to imply something.
Edit: Although it would of been pretty funny if they really did unite under the banner of ponies instead. think of the exposure and how fox news would daemonize them
Anvildude wrote: Most likely wonderfully. Get some of the blind-bag ponies for conversion (or go to, who was it, Graven?) for some blanks you could then cast.
We have just been painting them for our Pony-Finder Game
I can't get over the fact that that Griffon is the perfect size. Though I think you probably ought to invest in a slightly larger grid, or else start using double-sized squares.

We are looking into it.
After that game we moved to Cavalry Bases and picked up some Skeletal Horses to use as the Zomponies
What are your thoughts? Personally, got the feeling that both the end and the CMC episode were changed drastically on the run when they learned a 6th season was approved.
For the rest, I really enjoyed it, and with the precious 4th one, I'm getting almost the same interest on the series I've got on season 1.

I havent been paying attention much, I stopped with the fandom a year back but still watch it. Its good painting fodder. I lost my love for it, but it is still enjoyable TBH.
To the bold, how so?

Spoiler:
They've got their cutie marks
On that one episode in particular, they did said they had to rewrite it into a more open thing since the 6th season was approved. Onto the season finale, I can't help but feel the same happened.
