Agreed. "We stood at the edge of destruction, and would have fallen." Made me LOL excessively. Although, not as much as the CMC being angels of death...
Important news guys. Apparently, due to a stupidly vocal minority who are under the absurd impression that 'Derp' is a politically incorrect slur against the mentally disabled, Hasbro is considering taking action.
Petition signed! They can't take Derpy away from us :O Why should Derpy ever be considered as an insult to disabled people? I mean bronies are kinda know for love, tolerance and rainbows...

I wouldn't worry excessively about it guys. The offended parties and trolls are a very tiny minority, most of their power actually comes from the crazy backlash from the fandom, especially on EQD.
Oh man, drinking with MLP fans is by far the most interesting evening I've had in some time. New episode, in what, eight hours? Plenty of time to regain a smidgen of my mental faculties.
Listen Guys, I'm not trolling or anything but that "Derpy Banned" issue is just a RUMOUR. No one offical has said anything. If there is even anything to say.
There is no hard facts around this.
I think this guy explains it the best.
On episode 34 now! So epic. And i only started my awesome journey 47 hours ago!
Can i pose a serious question? Why do you guys think there is so much hate? Now, i'm open minded enough to learn the facts and do the research before i make a proper judgement but my initial reaction was that there was some pretty frakked up sh** going down. The first time i vocalised my feelings on the subject:

I am intrigued though, a little scared even...
So, yeah, i originally thought there was something perverted going on. Dare i say, the word pedophile crossed my mind. Obviously i know thats a lot of bull now but did you guys think the same thing when you heard about the adult MLP fanbase? Do you think some fans are actually frakked in the head and thats what give the rest a bad name?
Oh, that was great. I wasn't expected the book portions at all. They were so wonderfully pulp. That over-excessive trap at the end there left me in stitches.
They did a fantastic job for their obligatory "reading is good" episode.

I'm still in Shock from when Rainbow Dash stole Boreale slippers
i want to see the films of those books, but no doubt there will be a directors cut, a special edition and a special directors cut.......... and one of them may feature aliens
Haven't seen the new episode yet :O I can't wait to see what's up with Boreal plus the general idea of the episode sounds cool so I'm looking forward to another pony-tacular twenty-something minutes
Fire_for_effect wrote:Haven't seen the new episode yet :O I can't wait to see what's up with Boreal plus the general idea of the episode sounds cool so I'm looking forward to another pony-tacular twenty-something minutes
It's were Rainbow Dash tries to steal the book, and the pony that is seen screaming about his slipper being stolen is BALD AND FOOLISH.
They're all pretty good. There's been a short run of 'em that weren't quite as brilliant as the rest- good, but not great. Then Flim & Flam showed up, and all was better.
Shed.mov is my favorite of the three so far if only for that Awesome song at the end. The xylophone thing is perfect. after that Apple was pretty good, but I didn't care for Dress.
Epic Cupcake Time was better than the follow up pie one. I just really didn't like Rarity's appearance at the end of the pie one at all. If you Really like Epic Cupcake Time then WeLoveFine has a couple of shirts that reference it.
And as long as we're posting videos here's o e that's totally Not Rainbow Factory;
Has anyone read the fic "Somewhere only we know"? I just saw the comedy parody/version from the FiMFlamFilosophy (their stuff is pretty funny imho^^), but that story sounds reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaally depressing. Not sure if it's worth reading if it only gets me down for a day or two and I'm not that big a fan of fics anyways... anyone got some experience with that one?
Trying to convince my new room mates to try the show, not much luck so far. Though I did get 2 of the 4 to watch the episodes with me. They are not as much of a fan as I am, but its progress. They have been liking the the newer episodes, so early saturday MLP watching is slowly becoming a tradition, even if they are half awake.
Updated bloodcrushers, now with wings and Spike! Still need to do pinkie pies hair though.
Everypony listen! On the subject of FiM style minatures, I have decided to go back to my O&G after leaving them for a while, and planning on a second arachnarok, which will be painted in Derpy's colour scheme, complete with her derping eyes. Will post soon...
Anvildude wrote:I think most of us have. Apple.mov was relatively 'safe', though incredibly odd. Dress.mov was rather more risque, and shed.mov was just.
I personally loved shed.mov,, those guys are crazy.
Personally not tooo big a fan of the hotdiggidydemon's mlp stuff but it's all in good fun and some parts were indeed funny
I have found an insane amount of mlp related music and really thought, damn some bronies are amazing artists. Personally, I love these two, but there's tons more.
remilia_scarlet wrote:who here has seen apple.mov or any of the hotdiggedydemon toons?
Seen 'em all. Apple is still my favourite (probably because I love 2001: A Space Odyssey) and I always totally crack up when Pinkie's mono-brow is shown.

I reeeeeeeeeAaaaally hope that he either set that up himself or otherwise exaggerated his response to it, because Wow. Also, that was a rather good Twilight voice.
bloodaxegit wrote:Started work on derpy arachnarok. Should the bubble cutie mark be natural patterns, or blue war paint? Town hall ruins on the base anypony?
I like the idea of naturalistic patterns. After all, the cutie mark is an inherent part of everypony.
Igenstilch wrote:Friend-zoned. ouch.... With the population seeming to be 4 females to 1 male, you would think big mac would have a more active social life.
I don't really think it was a 'Friend Zoned' ending. Looked more like the CMC had broken the ice about them, and they could start off with a friendship, which may then go further. Modern dating, after all, isn't looking at Marriage or even always copulation as an end point, but is angled more towards mutual enjoyment of situations.
Please don't attach non wargaming pictures to Dakka, you need to use off site hosting for such. You've been told this before, please don't do it again.
Nono, don't get me wrong. Rarity is my fav pony- it's just these models have something odd going on with their jowels, and the pose they've got her in is not the best with that design.
Most of the people I talk to don't know what a brony is, but I can guess their reaction. It would be something akin to the first few pages of this thread.
I've not actively looked for any others in my area at all, though I know there's one other guy at the FLGS who watches, one who watched season o e but not seen any of season two, and a girl who I don't know of she watches but printed out the sweet Cryx Skarre po y to use as the cover of her tournament scenario booklet.
in the place i live there is actualy nothing to do other than wargaming and youtube, i only know 2 local bronies and nowhere localy has ponys. to get ponys i have to travel for about an hour at the least
I don't think I've ever been this grateful for the internet. Ponies got me through a hard time, wouldn't have them without the internet, not to mention being able to talk to more than two people about the show.
I've made no effort to convert anyone. I don't really even bring it up. I did tell one friend about it this past week so I could convince him to use his McDs connections to hook me up with a full set of the toys coming out in march. I'm not sure he believed menthat they were for menand not my mom.

Called me immature, and an disgrace to the genre. "Your Firehawk army is awesome, but what the hell is the My little pony crap? And holy feth you painted a fething Warlord TITAN with that gakky color scheme!"
He pretty much annoyed everyone there, considering I lone my Warlord out to others to play Apoc games.

So our idea was right. Only the annoying ones will complain. Everyone else will not.
My friend didn't complain, just gave me the confused "are you serious" look. He did also make a reference to it not being heterosexual, though I'll avoid that exact quote. Pretty much what I was expecting out of him. On the other hand, he did text me about fifteen minutes ago saying he was going to be able to get me the full set o ponies so the mockery is worth it.
I know only two pegasisters. I've tried converting one girl I know, but she never got round to watching it. Hopefully, I'll be converting another one soon.

Anypony seen the latest episode? I have to say, it absolutely blew me away! I've grown to appreciate Pinkie Pie much more these days. And this episode had many points worthy of praise, such as the comedy elements, the songs, the heartbreaking/warming love story, the incredibly subtle 'Where's Derpy' moment, and unless I'm reading too deeply into it, we got two Barney Stinson references - 'nailed it' and 'wait for it...'
It's interesting- It seems like the first half of the first season was full of great episodes, and the second half of the second season is shaping up the same.
I don't much care for the ponies, but it's the ooze that follows it that irks me. By ooze, I mean the crossing of the MLP with almost every other work of fiction imaginable. I don't have sources, but I've seen MLP fallout, MLP ghostbusters, MLP Dr Who out the wazoo. I cannot think of a type of fiction, other than Doctor Who, which has been spliced into so many others. It's also a pain being immediately labeled a "hater" after I say I dislike them.
Hey, I don't know about the Whooniverse or Ghostbusters stuff, but I can attest that the Flagship of the Fallout crossovers, Fallout:Equestria, is a quality piece of literature, able to stand on its own merits and be judged by itself, as a piece of MLP fanfiction, a piece of Fallout fanfiction, or as all three at once. I have literally never in my life read a piece of fan-work of that caliber. It was almost perfect.
Though I do find it amusing that it's somehow cross-pollinated so much. I think it's a side-effect of the Brony fandom arising from 4chan, as opposed to YouTube or elsewhere.
Dark eldeer.... Thats just awesome. And I've not read any ghostbusters or the Dr Whooves stuff, but I'll also agree that the Fallout story is Really good. I'm wishing Somber would finish his Fallout story but he's only half way thru writing the sixty or so chapters, so that's gonna be awhile. There's also a really great Pinkie Pie/Dresden Files cross over, with a sequel in the works that I'm waiting on as well.
As far as the new episode today... I've said it before and I'll say it again. Pinkie Pie is BEST PONY!!!

Mane 6 as HQs, Pegasi as Assault troops, Unicorns as Psyker support/ devastator role, Earth ponies as Tactical - oh God it's already happening!
I'm torn on this latest episode. On the one hand, it was a sweet little overall story... but on the other, I generally cannot stand Pinkie Pie, and this ep was gorram Pinkie Pie overkill. Aaaaaaagh. *headclutch*
That aside, I also liked Rainbow Dash's brief little cameo - especially the nod to continuity with her reading another Derring Do book. Rainbow Dash is best pony!
The continuality nods Realy surprised me, since I'm rather sure Faust mentioned during the first season that Hub specifically did not want any continuality.
Also just found this (gotta love randomly clicking through related videos in youtube) and it pretty much smashes all the haters arguments out of the water.
Anyone capable of growing such a magnificent moustache cannot have his masculinity questioned.
So I haven't actually gotten this watched yet, what with it just being posted up on EQD and thus being swamped and slow to load, but it's Gurren Lagaan, there for it must be awesome, so I'm throwing it in here too.
Thanks man, so how did the rest of you all end up here?
I have only seen up to ep 10, and a bunch of fanmade stuff (epic pie time had me laughing for 10 mins straight)
I used to watch fosters a long time ago, I still like to catch some shows from long ago, ( me and a friend were discussing old episodes of Are You Afraid of the Dark, now THAT was good ol' 90's TV)
This show is just cool in some weird way, I dont know if its because my clinical depression along with all the other mental crazyness I go through. It just makes me feel kinda better.
I had a kinda odd journey to the show. It mostly involved seeing references to it all over TVTropes and forums. Wondered what all the whoo-ha was, but never really had any animosity or interest. Just ignored it for a while, then finally said "Hey, let's see what the big deal is!"
The Night Stalker wrote:This is all so strange, yet I can't look away.
Only ten episodes in eh? Just wait till you get to season two. Overall I think it's even better than season one.
P.S. Dash is only the best pony when it comes to fan art. Pinkie Pie is Clearly Best Pony overall and anyone who says otherwise clearly just made an odd typo.

While we are at odd typos:
That HAS to be the strangest spelling of Fluttershy I´ve ever seen
Pinkie is undeniably hilarious, but for me she works best in moderation. The more surprised I was when I actually really liked the latest episode. I have to admit that I would have reacted exactly like Cranky, though.
That being said, hurry up with the Fluttershy episode, dangnabit. I mean, uhm, if that´s ok with you?
Aduro wrote:Gif? Was mine supposed to be animated? I really hate my phone sometimes...
Yeah, her eyes are like pulsing....
So a rather strange thing happened last night...
I was on facebook, and apparently someone made a memes page for my school... While people were getting mad at "unfunny memes" a few people started a chat with the entire group about ponies... Apparently there are at least three bronies on campus (not including the two that live on my floor).
Aduro wrote:See what I mean? Really weird typos. I mean, why can;t anyone spell Twilight Sparkle correctly?
I know, right?
How'd I get here? Hmm... Memebase had a lot of Pony jokes making the front page a while back and I thought "Hey, this is pretty funny, I should check the show out." It took both the Pilot episodes to do it, but then I was there, on the good side of things.
As to why it appeals to me? amongst all the blood, gore, misery etc of what I do, I find it to be a great antithesis to everything else, and it's a quality show. Better than 99% of what's shown on TV IMHO.
The Night Stalker wrote:Thanks man, so how did the rest of you all end up here?

My friends became bronies, and i was interested to see what all the fuss was about. My brother and I started watching the episodes, and were instantly drawn in.
Oh, as for how I got into pony, it was mostly just seeing a lot of references to it around, including the thread/threads here that just wouldn't go away. Eventually I checked it out and decided I liked it.
I got into MLP because, well, the redshirt at my local GW talked about it, then I was going to be away from home for 4 nights on business, was not sure of I would have internet. So I bought season 1 on itunes and watched it all over the course of those 4 days... And I was hooked.
I got into it via talking to my mates about silly ideas for armies, I suggested a MLP army and while looking for models to make said army I got the urge to watch the show. 22 minutes later I'm a brony ^_^
oh and I like how none of you can spell rainbow dash
Aduro wrote:We wouldnt have to keep having this conversation if you all would stop getting it wrong. Pinkie Pie is Best Pony. Drink the "kool-aid"! Drink it!
Gather 'round everypony, it's storytime with Rainbow Dash!
So I get into the FLGS today for Warmachine night and sit down at one of the tables where a buddy (the one hooking menup with a set of the McD ponies coming out in march) of mine is getting set up to play another of the top tier regulars. One of those cool guys whos good and everyone likes and looks up too. At some point it comes up that I better not procrastinate too long on a commission for him if I want my ponies.
At this point the buddy decides he's going to rib on me and points out to the regular how I'm wantin these toys and apparently honestly like MLP, throwing some jokeing comments about how he's concerned I might be gay. Nothing mean spirited, just trying to have fun at my expense.
This then sparks a conversation between menand the regular that yes, McDs has a new set of the ponies coming out in March and how he might have to get a set of those too. Buddy turns to me and proceeds to inform me "you know he's just mocking you right?" Regular proceeds to inform the buddy that no he's not, and that ponies are in fact cool. The buddy had managed to pick out one of just a couple bronies (and that i knew he was one) out of a room of over a dozen players to try and mock me about ponies in front of. The look on his face was priceless.
Later on he tried it again when the three of us were talking to another of te top tier regulars ("you won't believe what these two are watching"). Happened to be the other guy there I knew watched the show. So epic. I'm going to have to start bombarding this friend with ponies now just to mess with him. It's only fair.
I used to browse this thread, and I couldn't believe how people could watch the show. Then someone gave me some selling points (Chowderhead and WarOne), and then I started with episode 1...
At first I thought that there were only a few people with pony avatars, but the fact that this thread has gone on for 3 years and 110 pages is just plain ridiculousness.

Does the (New) Lunar Republic have any kind of "official" or standardized story/fluff or is it merely a loose concept and so g? I'm thinking of starting up Khador and am I terested in doing them up in it's themes.

while I love the versions of the ponyhammer setting I've seen, i don't think i'm going to use it. this is going to stay more true to the show somewhat, but will still have a few dark elements.
And im afraid cheese is going to be a must, there will be gating guns that fire apples, huge diamond-powered laser guns, the like
