I did use superglue the minute it happened but the next day my buddy, an army nurse, gave me dermabond as it is more durable.....
I also have the guitarist callouses, which unfortunately did not stop the blade from severing what felt like thousands of nerves. I don't think I am getting the feeling back in this finger.....

So I am sitting at my desk sweeping away the bugs that once attacked my flourescent lamps now dead on the table.
I am wondering how I ever got to deserve such loyal friends.
By that I mean you guys. Not bugs that stick around so long they end up dead of old age.....
I have finally reached my goal of getting rid of my old job, where I sat and did nothing at a desk all day. Now I sit and do nothing elsewhere allday with no internet. But the winter season is coming in and my time will be spent indoors.
I will not say I am back, but I ain't gone anymore.......
Up on the plate soon, after some titan finishing, is a Tau XV9 kit for Fred and one Tigershark, One Barricuda and One Orca. God help me.......
I will also be doing some odd jobs for Brother Paen. Hopefully in three months I can start my Warlord.
Inbetween all of this I am going back to collage. That will be a blast. NOT!!!!
Thanks for checking in guys. I assure you the rumours of my demise have been grealty exaggerated.......
Good to hear Max. Brian's right - college is more worthwhile than a ead-end job, and we have plenty of immoral support for you. Bring in the hookers and blow...
Of course, you should really have kept those bugs, they fit well into 'nid terrain

You will begin hearing the stampede within the next few days......
Thanks guys, I appreciate your interest. Oh, and Skipphag, I am almost ready to retire. That is one reason I have been so busy. Getting ready to get outta town has me spending a lot of time on other important matters.
I miss the hobby time. The mad scientist is happy to be getting back into the lab.....
I told Vik, that my other friends in the service sort of Drop Off the grid shortly before deployment, we were hoping that wasn't the case, now we are glad of it!
Yeah that is true dave. We do tend to lose time right beforw the vacations begins. Same difference with retirwment too. appointments and classes and there is the buying of a home at the place of retirement to worry about.

So the plasma blast guns are complete and I think they are a far sight better then the last ones. tomorrow I will be finishing the 1KSons and a couple of Chaos Undivided Warhounds.
I think the cannon nozzles are off too. But I know why. I didn't put any gear teeth around rthe outer edge of them as the real ones have and that would have made a difference.
Today: 1000 Sons Preheresy Warhound will be complete.....
No. These are cylindrical with a nozzle shaped insert inside. The real ones are conical a little bit though and have a gearing around the outer edge.....
As seen here:
Automatically Appended Next Post: There are other design differences but I don't think any of thedetails I ommitted or changed make a big difference. Opine?
Looks good, your plasmas are a little wide, but I don't think it matters. The FW nozzles have a slight taper which would be very difficult to reproduce.
I've got to say as good as they look in the pics, in RL they are awe inspiring. I should start laying down paint on the custodes and 1k sons tomorrow afternoon. They have been screaming at me to be painted the last two days. They are soo amazing I'm kinda afraid to jack them up with a bad paint job. Got to say again Max, they are phenomononomonomonominal, I love them, and will be fielding them in battle in about two weeks at the store for our xmas apoc game.
the plasma guns... the ornamental armor... actually....maybe i am the only guy around here that sees the aesthetics in a complete white warhound??? well... this plastic beauty... it would be a grace on every table even unpainted... i sure know i would brawl with any stuborn painter that woudn´t want to fight with your model ...
Thanks Everyone. Prophet The undivided are coming soon, I promise. Also up soon, a couple of Lucius and photos of the 1KSons. I have been dealing witha a dead smart phone the last few days and am just now getting into the new one,
One set of short questions please.
How do you bend the plasticard so that it fits tight to the curves of the model. I have tried and have trouble heating and bending plasicard to get the right curves. Are you using a heat gun.
Also. What glue do you use. I have yet to find a glue that does not just fall apart when used with plasticard.
BTW. Your plasticard skills are as skalk stated. very impressive.

I do not generally use a heat gun for anything other than making domes....
It causes too much rippling and distortion for anything else other than vacuum forming.
I use Testors plastic cement in the red tube, testors thin plastic cement in the triangular bottle, Bondene and CA (Cyano-Acrylate SP?) aka superglue. I am in the process of using a Flex-i-file brand Touch and Flo tube to apply much more accurate and clean amounts of Bondene and Testors thin plastic cement. I am hopingthis will clean up my seams and edges significantly. to see my stuff in person is to realize that my photos suck and hide many a flaw. However, seeing as so many people are edging on aquiring my work I feel like I need to step up to commercial quality. As for the cuved surfaces- easier done than said I am afraid. I have attempted, poorly I think to demonstrate the technique in the past. Do this: place one of your hands over the other. the curl all eight of your fingers down. imagine now how difficult it would be if your hands were permenantly glued together in that curled position. You wouldn't be able to uncurl them. That is the idea I use. As far as the warhounds go it is a useful.technique on the shinguards but the carapace only has two thin layers. The carapace of the reaver on the other hamd was better with this method because it needed to have a visible thickness and be able to stay in shape while being removeable.
Have I put too much thought into this stuff?

I have some sketches for an Eldar Assault Transport that would use warp generators to insert a unit into assault - no rules support it, of course, but I thought that if the Eldar had an assault vehicle it would work like that (rather than boring old doors).

Glad to hear you are quitting cigs... or cutting down anyway.... less cancer scares.... more awesome building.
Well, overall better health is a plus. I am still not convinced smoking isn't anything more than one more in a long list of environmental causes for cancers of any kind.
My father quit smoking when smokes hit 1$ a pack. My mother never did. My father is healthy, my mother has 100's of health problems. I recommend quitting smoking and really glad/hope you have the will to make it through. 4000 chemicals a sick is never good.
Damn your scratch built stuff is awesome! But living in Japan those Titans are too big for my tiny appartment, maybe i should check the net for inflatable titans? :p
LittleSilverGuys wrote: A couple of shots of the 30k point apoc game that took place this past week. You can see two pip Warhounds built by max.
This shot made me realize just why people tell me my Warhounds are good. It is so incredibly refreshing to see them with paint on them. Thank you so very much, LGS.......
@max- Not a problem, I've got a lot more paint to put on them, but all the extra detail you added makes it easy.
@prophet40k- I know right, I had the choice of being templated in the backfield or eaten in the mid-field. but it was a lot of fun, I've def got the apoc bug now.
@Imperial Renegade: You say titan. He's actually made a few... and I don't think he is done yet. What improvements were you thinking of... cause I can't think of any.
Unfortunately those improvements were discovered at the expense of several warhounds completed without them and swveral more already completed to a stage that prohibits the inclusion of said improvements....
But as I have said before: I am incredibly awed by what I have accomplished and would not have thought I would be capable of it.
First I would think that I could improve the ability of my designs to be posed without requiring a base be put on the model.....
Secondly, I think I would like to improve the weapons mounys a bit. What someone who does not have physical contact with my models is that they are incredibly NOT clean.....
I have to improve my glue usage and the edges. Also, the laminating of layers together could be better....
But, ask LGS if he was able to clean it up enough on the paint job....
Well, My improvements would be more GUNS! But nothing in the least as detailed as mxwllmdr has posted. The titan I was referring to was the yellow one a few pages ago.
The weapons just weren't installed at the time of these photos..... I am also eagerly awaiting the up close pics of the paint job on this one. Had I not had the flu I would have been around that Sunday to see it in person.....

Hey Max!
Just saying that I hope you're feeling better and sorry for not being around as of the last few months..
Just got up to speed on all of your impressive work and can't wait to see more!
Having just finished trawling through all 97 pages (soon to break a full century, perhaps?), I'm just in awe. Max, your work is just spectacular. Those titans are things of beauty... I particularly love the Custodes carapace, and given that I'm currently working in a PH Sons army myself, that TS hound speaks deeply to me.
Between them and the Electro Hawk, I'm feeling inspired to try my own hand at some scratch building, and maybe some lighting if I feel really ambitious. After, of course, I get my three hundred and eighty-six other projects-in-progress out of the way, haha.
Subscribed, exalted, all that business. Looking forward, I hope, to some more updates.

Max oh Max where are you? We need your toys, the store is participating in the Big Game this year for Apoc, get out of retirement and get back to work.
LittleSilverGuys wrote: Max oh Max where are you? We need your toys, the store is participating in the Big Game this year for Apoc, get out of retirement and get back to work.
Ahhh, were it so easy. Man, I can't tell you how envious I am of Klaus, Not Claus; Dave, Viktor and all the other fine artists I have met here. You know the ones I mean: the ones with time on their hands. I have not been so lucky as of late. And when I was it seemed that other matters were more pressing.
As LSG so adroitly states "get out of retirement". Well, I have been preparing for retirement not enjoying it. Not retirement from modeling though, mind you. From my first career, the military. Well, it was also my first love but then the missus came along and put it second seat. And the boys, well, they just made time even scarcer over the years.
I digress. The point of the meandering is this:I have failed to finish the warhound mass build on time, and at all thus far. As a result, a good friend of mine is deeply dissappointed in me. And worse a good friend of his (that, sadly, I am not priveledged to know) is dissapointed as well.
This will never do....
As I said early on in this endeavor, I started doing this to see if I even could. No other reason, really. Just that. Well, when I had followers (as I am sure this is falling on mostly deaf ears right now) you all seemed to agree that I could indeed do this. And well, according to some.
So do this I shall. And beginning (mostly) anew with finishing six warhounds that simply must ship within the next two weeks. Four of them by Friday at the latest and the other two as soon after as possible. There will be few pics of this endeavor as I feel it is simply not acceptable to beat a dead horse.
Then I shall finish the tau endeavors I have started.
Then on to other endeavors of a less responsible nature. Namely the stuff I want to do for me. Isn't that what the hobby is about? Keeping myself happy. Or is it keeping myself sane? Or are they the same?
In the interim, major cool developments on the titan front not withstanding, I will be releasing some Forgeworld Maximus fiction. Not sure when the first installment will be. Hopefully soon. I have only a rough outline of the story and many cannon issues to settle so it may be a day or two before I begin.
If anyone is reading this... well, I will just say I hope someone is.........
Isn't that what the hobby is about? Keeping myself happy. Or is it keeping myself sane? Or are they the same?
exactly mister murder!... i am a bit disapointed in your friends... this task you had tackled was hughe... and you did it out of friendship... there shouldn´t be such a reaction then if it would hit some obstacles...well.... some peeps, eh?
but more to pressing matters.... as you are a military man and we live in dire times i was seriously quite often thinking we have heard the last from you... so seeing and reading this anewed sign of life from you is a good way to keep my bloodpressure at bay!!!... so horray for max´ comeback!
Hey man, never feel bad about IRL vs. hobby time. It sucks sometimes, but you have to do what you have to do when you have to do it, and I respect that you are hanging in there to manage the challenges you have. And honestly I think you are way overdue hanging up your brassard and start pulling down that well-earned retirement. You had 20 in 2009 (or close to that)? You've put in more than enough time wearing those crossed pistols. You've gone above and beyond to assist, protect, and defend. Every person in this country should line up and shake your hand (or kiss your ass, as applicable).
When I got out all I had to do was grab my duffel full of civvies, throw my boots over the telephone line near the main gate, and walk away. Your ETS has got to be a mountain of paperwork on top of the unfathomable company / battalion Bravo Sierra you're likely putting up with. I hope someone has your back and is helping you out.
I also remember you had some health stuff going on, hope you are doing better w/ that.
Bottom line- take care of what's important. Dakka will still be here when you can come back.
(if you do throw your boots over the telephone line, take a pic. I'd love to see it )
Thank you all. And yes things are looking better on the health front. Taking cholesteral meds but the only negative is the gas it gives me. And thats only really a negative for the missus......

Good to see the fires rekindling... I am truly looking forward to seeing your future works.
Yes, in fact and very soon. I know my life has been messed up lately and that I have not met my deadlines but as I was saying to Brother Paen the other day my load has lightened considerably. The government shutdown is providing me a little time but the approval of my retirement packet has opened my days up greatly. Also, I am no longer having health issue or money issues.
In short I am shipping Wednesday of next week. And really not before Friday of this week because I am simply waiting on a bottle of bondene that i will use to finish rivets to arrive from Omni Models. Rather cheap supplier and delivers quickly.
Anyone still subbed can expect daily updates of one sort or another from now on until I actually retire and move to Las Vegas. Around ten months from now. I will have to see how things go with the new job then to set a hobby schedule.
I really am happy to know I will now have the time and energy todo this again. It really is the only thing (other than my wife, who has been amazingly supportive) that makes me not want to burn this world to the ground.....

Ok, so next month i begin two hours a day, heavy coverage here (as well as other forums) on my warlord titan. Gonna take a while to build that especially since I am gonna try to make it castable.
In the meantime I am finishing some XV-9s and a few Tau flyers, updates to come soon.
Also, mailing two more Warhounds soon, so pics are coming on those as well.....
Well, I am fond of saying I am back but truth be told my time seems to be getting more valuable. I am however able to work much more often on projects these days. So hopefully I can get back into the conversations.
Your warhounds are superb to say the least! Can't wait to see what you due on the warlord! Therre are already a couple of amazingly detailed blogs on here about them, have you checked out some of the others? Blackadder has a damn impressive one.
Have had several discussions regarding the warlord with the Blckadder. He actually credited me with a little bit of inspiration on his warlord in a certain area. I was very honored, too say the least, his will be a source of inspiration for me.
Very sad to report that the last of my very overdue warhound project are shipping out tomorrow. It has been a long strange ride building them and they are the last public consumption warhounds I will do. I will only build at most four more and they are for my closest friends and will never see blogging. I am showing these here with the very first warhound I ever built. I believe I have made significant progress. I will post more on these from the gaming tables at The Gamers Hideout tomorrow.
Doh...forgot you had mentioned that...and posting on phone so not bothering to check previous posts as I would normally.
Hmmmm...would an Emperor class be about man-sized at this scale...there's your next halloween costume......
Thanks for the look. I plan on going back and "chipping and weathering" the toes and feet , adding some "oily" areas ,some banners and maybe "damage" the carapace . I'm also torn on whether or not to put Glow on the weapons. Opinions?
Automatically Appended Next Post: So the master is done for the shoulder pads/upper arms:
As is the mold, which worked fantastically the first time......
Automatically Appended Next Post: Reminder, these parts are all miscast from the first or second casting attempts from each mold. They arent the best castings....
I like it so far, but there really should be more body to it. The legs are so long and spindly compared to the tiny thorax that it looks out of place to me. Otherwise all the crafting is excellent.
They're just too straight, and there should really be a joint in there somwhere as all Tau (and in turn their mecah) have the 3 joint Unguligrade legs, not Plantigrade like you have there.
(The Warhounds are Digitigrade.. like a dog. )
I also think the head is a little to large for the rest of the body.
The rest, I can put down to alternate design and looks fine so far.
Keep up the good work!
Theo, I flopped back and forth about the body. I think maybe I will beef up the under arm area....
Ovion, I am considering a remake of the foot to fix that...
Automatically Appended Next Post: I personally didnt care for the no rear toe thing they have going on but my foot simply doesn't give that elongated standing on the toes vibe that it should.....
Been think about the legs and I think that it will look better with no rear toe, closer to the unguligrade.
Also, currently mocking up a set of legs with the shorter lower leg and it looks better. Photos later.
Finished the first weapon:
The hand needs some work after it comes out of the mold and the barrels simply need a new mold. This one is so very hard to use. Well, Christmas holiday is coming up..... plenty time to play then......
fixed my post (S)he doesn't buy me Lego or miniatures stupid touchscreen going out on my iPad. Usually it's just the T that gets dropped off. Hope that fixes any strange ideas about me
Had no strange ideas about you at all. I assumed you were a chick. Or gay, neither are strange to me....... Neither are any of my business either..... All are welcome here.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Ten days til I start my warlord project. Finishing a Tau barricuda soon. Gonna post it all at once in a few days.....
