One set of short questions please.
How do you bend the plasticard so that it fits tight to the curves of the model. I have tried and have trouble heating and bending plasicard to get the right curves. Are you using a heat gun.
Also. What glue do you use. I have yet to find a glue that does not just fall apart when used with plasticard.

BTW. Your plasticard skills are as skalk stated. very impressive.

I do not generally use a heat gun for anything other than making domes....

It causes too much rippling and distortion for anything else other than vacuum forming.

I use Testors plastic cement in the red tube, testors thin plastic cement in the triangular bottle, Bondene and CA (Cyano-Acrylate SP?) aka superglue. I am in the process of using a Flex-i-file brand Touch and Flo tube to apply much more accurate and clean amounts of Bondene and Testors thin plastic cement. I am hopingthis will clean up my seams and edges significantly. to see my stuff in person is to realize that my photos suck and hide many a flaw. However, seeing as so many people are edging on aquiring my work I feel like I need to step up to commercial quality. As for the cuved surfaces- easier done than said I am afraid. I have attempted, poorly I think to demonstrate the technique in the past. Do this: place one of your hands over the other. the curl all eight of your fingers down. imagine now how difficult it would be if your hands were permenantly glued together in that curled position. You wouldn't be able to uncurl them. That is the idea I use. As far as the warhounds go it is a useful.technique on the shinguards but the carapace only has two thin layers. The carapace of the reaver on the other hamd was better with this method because it needed to have a visible thickness and be able to stay in shape while being removeable.

Have I put too much thought into this stuff?

@ max-Well I just got my photobucket working, but I see you beat me to it.
Bear in mind these are very, very wip still. Mainly laying down some base colors and still figuring out the color scheme. I've decided with Legio Astorum for the 1k sons, and Legio Ignatum for the Custodes one.

I have some sketches for an Eldar Assault Transport that would use warp generators to insert a unit into assault - no rules support it, of course, but I thought that if the Eldar had an assault vehicle it would work like that (rather than boring old doors).

Viktor von Domm wrote:that depends on the onlookers point of view

My point of view on the orks is that the average (production) game model looks as if it were put together in a factory (albeit, a dilapidated and sorely under supplied and equipped factory). My goal is to make some ork tech that truly looks like it were slapped together. Much like the custom creations seen in many threads on Dakka, notably Mars' thread. Imagine if you had a two refrigerators, a hair dryer and a fifty seven chevy and needed to make an artillery piece. That is what I mean.

I know that the paint makes the difference, though, and may have to enlist Dave's help in this endeavor. But that is still many weeks away.......
